Meghan Markle reveals Prince Harry's unhealthy eating habits

Independent04-03-2025

Meghan Markle has shed light on her husband Prince Harry 's eating habits as she launches her new cooking show, With Love, Meghan.
The Netflix show was originally due to be released in January but was postponed due to the California wildfires. The series consists of eight 33-minute-long episodes with special appearances from some of the former actor's friends including Mindy Kaling and one of her former Suits co-stars, Abigail Spencer.
During the series, the 43-year-old hints at her life behind the scenes, as she refers to making her children breakfast in the morning and 'doing the school run'.
Using organic ingredients, including tomatoes and herbs sourced from her own garden, the Duchess of Sussex shares her love for making things from scratch, including food but also bath salts, candles, and balloon arches.
In episode 2, 'Welcome to the Party', Markle is cooking with Mindy Kaling. As she prepares ahead of their meeting, she cuts up some vegetables.
'I'll make some bacon too, I find when i'm cooking bacon, my kitchen very immediately becomes full of husband and three dogs,' she says. 'It's not my perfume that's bringing them all in. My bacon brings all the boys to the yard.'
Later she reveals Prince Harry's love for salt. As Kaling asks how she manages to season her food so perfectly, Markle explains that Harry's influence has prompted her to be more careful.
'Well, I have a family, a husband, who no matter what meal is put in front of him, before he tastes it puts salt on,' she says. 'So I try to under-salt.'
'I love knowing that your husband likes it salty,' Kaling replies.
In episode 3, 'Two Kids from LA', Markle is joined by chef Roy Choi as they bond over growing up in Los Angeles. As Choi teaches Markle how to cook flavoursome Korean fried chicken, Markle adds that Harry 'loves fried chicken.'
The show marks Markle's second program with Netflix after 2022's Harry & Meghan tell-all royal docuseries, which was watched by over 2.4 million people on its launch day.
The Duchess – who runs her yet-to-be-launched lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which was recently rebranded As Ever – explains that her program is about 'connecting with friends' and making new ones in a trailer for the series.

The 43-year-old could serve some of her own food creations — including recipes flaunted on her Netflix series With Love, Meghan. Experts say it shows her ambition to move forward and focus on the future, while husband Prince Harry, 40, seems stuck reflecting on the past. She has spent the year rebranding herself away from runaway royal to a lifestyle, entertaining and star hostess. Brand experts said hotels and restaurants fit in with her lifestyle business image. In the first episode of her eight-part TV series in March, Meghan said: 'When I have someone stay, one of my favourite things to do is prep the guest room.' A second series has already been filmed and will be released in the autumn. Her lifestyle brand's website says: 'As Ever is more than a brand — it's a love language. "Created by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, As Ever welcomes you to a collection of products, each inspired by her long-lasting love of cooking, entertaining and hostessing.' On Saturday, her As Ever page posted a new picture of her running through the sea in a white dress. Meghan shares rare video and pictures of Lilibet's 4th birthday celebrations at Disney It was captioned: 'So excited for all the good to come! 'Running into the weekend like', with an ocean wave emoji added. She has also been increasingly active on Instagram after relaunching her personal account on New Year's Day. Last week, she shared an 80-second video of her twerking in hospital in a bid to induce labour when she was pregnant and overdue with Lilibet. Her new products are marketed at Americans and not the UK It attracted criticism in Britain for being vulgar. But a source said: 'Meghan is very pleased with the video. 'In the UK everyone's reaction has been a bit prudish but everywhere else, particularly in America and especially with young people, it's been a huge hit. 'CALIFORNIAN ROYALTY' 'Her new products are marketed at Americans and not the UK.' Meghan has also posted videos of her family at Disneyland, bee-keeping with daughter Lilibet, and going to a Beyonce concert with Harry. Her As Ever Instagram page launched in February. Posts include pictures of her gardening, preparing fresh fruit and baking. PR and branding expert Jack Izzard, of Gallia Communications, said of her trademark application: 'In terms of positioning, it's not a million miles from where As Ever is. "She is very much positioning herself as a star hostess, Californian royalty who makes her guests feel welcome. 6 Meghan has also posted videos of her family at Disneyland Credit: Instagram 'The issue she's potentially going to have is that's a completely different skill set, running a hospitality business. 'A night in an As Ever B&B will be several hundred pounds. "That's really going to blow up if it's bad.' She always intimated she was stifled by life in the Royal Family Mr Izzard Mr Izzard said her recent activities are 'all about her reclaiming her voice' and building her brand. He added: 'She always intimated she was stifled by life in the Royal Family. "She's got to earn a living. It's very much 'I'm this Californian hostess now'. 'Harry's still stuck in the past and trying to settle scores. "She is looking ahead, forging this brand.' William's call came in a speech to the Blue Economy and Finance Forum on ocean preservation at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco after meeting France's President Emmanuel Macron. The prince, whose opening and closing remarks were in French, said those attending were 'united by our deep connection to the ocean and our concern for its safety'. William, in navy suit with a recycled sustainable tie from Wilmok, said the clock was ticking on meeting the target agreed at the 2022 UN Biodiversity Summit aiming to protect at least 30 per cent of the world's land and sea by 2030. Speaking at the heads of state and government session on the forum's final day, the prince added: 'Watching human activity reduce beautiful sea forests to barren deserts at the base of our oceans is simply heartbreaking. 'For the future of our planet, for the future generations, we must listen to the words of Sir David Attenborough: 'If we save the sea, we save our world'. 'I call on all of you to think big in your actions.' World leaders were greeted by a blue carpet as they arrived at the event, with William chatting with Mr Macron and other dignitaries. Addressing an audience of 1,800, William said: 'Rising sea temperatures, plastic pollution and overfishing are putting pressure on fragile ecosystems. 'What once seemed an abundant resource is diminishing before our eyes. We all stand to be impacted. And we are all responsible for change — both negative and positive. But there remains time to turn this tide.' Later, William said he went through a range of emotions when he saw Sir David's new Ocean film. He told Enric Sala, who worked on the film: 'I got angry, then sad, then I got frustrated, then I got happy.' Harry Styles spotted dancing up a storm at London music festival

Harry Styles is not missing out on this year's selection of incredible music festival headliners, even if he's not back on stage just yet. The As It Was hitmaker, 31, has been taking time away from the recording studio after the success of his Love On Tour in 2023. His last on-stage performance was in July last year, making a surprise appearance to duet with headliner Stevie Nicks at BST Hyde Park. On Saturday, he dipped his toe back into the music world and headed to Victoria Park to watch Jamie XX perform at Lido Festival. Possibly, he was warming up his dancing shoes ahead of a secret set at Worthy Farm — or just heading to the festival for fun. Fans won't know until Glastonbury kicks off in three weeks, but Harry looked incredibly happy dancing the night away with friends at Lido. Somehow, the star had managed to get himself right to the barricade without anyone noticing. The One Direction heartthrob rocked a low-key look including a blue cap, a windbreaker and a jumper to protect against the rainy London weather. Dancing in the busy crowd appeared to get Harry a little hot and sweaty as he ditched his jumper to reveal a grey t-shirt with a smiley face on it. While the Watermelon Sugar singer is known for his bold on-stage looks, however, he keeps his street style far less flamboyant (other than the short shorts). Lido Festival was packed for Jamie XX's headlining slot, which was supported by acts such as Sampha, Romy, Skrillex and Nia Archives. Fans were loving Harry's gig-going antics on social media with Moondancerry writing on X: I love that Harry Styles is just living his best life during this break and we get these small glimpses into that🥹.' His break has included a baffling side quest to the Vatican City when he was spotted in the crowd waiting for smoke to confirm the new Pope. On May 8, the papal conclave in the Vatican chose the new Pope, and white smoke began billowing out of the Sistine Chapel. A bell marked the election of Robert Francis Prevost as the new Pope, who will be known as Pope Leo XIV. Another side quest saw Harry speedily run the Tokyo marathon, placing 6010 out of approximately 38,000. More Trending Mainly, he has been seen around London, where he owns a house, catching up with friends and soaking up the sun in some very tiny shorts. As for Lido Festival, the gigs continue across the next month with sets from Turnstile, London Grammar, and the Brat icon herself Charli XCX. Charli is dominating festival season along with Chappell Roan as both pop icons take over Primavera Sound with Sabrina Carpenter. The Apple hitmaker will head to Worthy Farm later this month while Chappell plays Sziget Festival as well as Reading and Leeds in August. Got a story?
