Tillotama Shome's Baksho Bondi To Open The Indian Film Festival Of Melbourne 2025
Actor Tillotama Shome's Bengali film, Baksho Bondi, will serve as the opening film at the 2025 edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM). The film, co-produced by Shome and actor Jim Sarbh, will have its official Australian premiere on August 14, setting the stage for the 16th edition of the festival.
Directed by first-time filmmakers Tanushree Das and Saumyananda Sahi, the film is set in a Kolkata suburb and follows Maya, played by Shome, a working woman whose story unfolds through moments of quiet strength and resilience. The movie, titled Shadowbox in English, had its world premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival. It is a co-production between India, France, the US and Spain.
Shome said, ''Baksho Bondi' is incredibly close to my heart. Playing Maya was a lesson in listening to silences, in discovering strength in small acts, and in understanding how quiet resilience shapes women's lives in a world that often overlooks them."
'After Berlin, bringing Maya's story to Melbourne feels special… because of the incredible strength and spirit of inclusion that radiates from Mitu, the festival director of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. This film is a love letter to working women, to dusty afternoons in Barrackpore and to the courage that quietly persists even when no one is watching," Shome said in a statement.
Festival director Mitu Bhowmick Lange praised the film as a 'tender, honest, and visually stunning" work. She said, 'We are honoured to open IFFM 2025 with 'Baksho Bondi', a film that exemplifies the strength of Indian independent cinema while touching on themes that are deeply personal and globally relatable. Tillotama Shome's performance as Maya is nothing short of extraordinary…"
'It is exactly the kind of cinema we are proud to showcase at IFFM, and we are excited for Australian audiences to experience this gem on our Opening Night," she said. Backed by the Victorian Government, IFFM 2025 will run from August 14 to 24. The IFFM Awards Night, celebrating excellence across film and OTT, will take place on August 15.

Badshah Claims He Wrote Brown Rang, Takes A Jibe At Yo Yo Honey Singh Over Credit
Badshah picks up fight with Yo Yo Honey Singh again over songwriting credits for Brown Rang. A fresh flare-up has sparked in Bollywood's rap circles as Badshah defended his claim to writing Brown Rang, taking aim at longtime rival Yo Yo Honey Singh. The exchange surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) after a user tried to credit Honey Singh for the track. When a fan cheekily wrote, 'What did he eat?" under Honey Singh's past and present pictures, Badshah shot back with a single-word retort — 'Credits." A pointed jibe alleging that Honey Singh takes credit for others' work. When another user tried to fan tensions by saying, 'Bass kar de bhai. Ek baar tujhe support kardiye to iska matlab ye nahi har baar karenge. And again, Brown Rang Honey Singh ne hi likha hai," Badshah replied with equal sarcasm: 'Chomu, tere support ke liye nahi kar raha main ye." Badshah has consistently made it clear in interviews that he wrote Brown Rang himself and wrote the rap for Angrezi Beat. 'In 2011, Honey Singh called me to mix a song. At that time I had written Brown Rang. He had the beat. But he had written something weird. I said that something strong should be written on it. Then I wrote Brown Rang," he said in 2024 interviews. The fight goes beyond social media digs. Both artists rose through the ranks together as members of Mafia Mundeer—a pioneering hip-hop collective of the early 2010s that included Raftaar, Ikka, and Lil Golu alongside Badshah and Honey Singh. Hits like Khol Botal, Begani Naar Buri, and Delhi Ke Deewane defined the group. But that alliance broke down amid credit disputes and artistic rifts, leading the rappers down solo paths. Badshah has openly accused Honey Singh of being 'self-centred", calling out practices like making collaborators sign blank contracts and failing to acknowledge their contributions. In May 2024, Badshah hinted at a possible end to the feud at GraFest in Dehradun, saying, 'There was a phase in my life where I held this grudge against one and now, I want to call it quits and leave that grudge behind — and that's Honey Singh."
