Highest IPL team scores: SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) scored 278/3 against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday to go into the record books yet again to score the third highest Indian Premier League total. SRH already hold the record for the highest team total in Indian Premier League history, having smashed a record 287/3 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2024 season. The Orange Army also smashed 277/3 against Mumbai Indians in the same season.
SRH also whipped up the sixth-highest total with a whopping 266/7 against Delhi Capitals. They also scored the second highest total in IPL history in their 2025 season opener against Rajasthan Royals with 286 runs. Thus, SRH have 4 of the top 5 highest totals in the league's history with Kolkata Knight Riders' 272/7 vs DC in 2024, the only other team in the top 5.
In the match, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head gave SRH a blistering start with Heinrich Klaasen chipping in with stormy century in just 37 balls. The Kolkata bowlers couldn't catch a break at all with the Hyderabad batters making merry on a flat pitch.
Klaasen led a scintillating top-order batting performance with a sensational hundred to power Sunrisers Hyderabad to a challenging 278 for 3 against Kolkata Knight Riders in their final IPL match here on Sunday. Opting to bat, Klaasen smashed 105 not out off 39 balls, while Travis Head made 76 off 40 balls and opener Abhishek Sharma hit a 16-ball 32. Sunil Narine (2/42) picked up two wickets. Both the teams are out of playoff race.

Bengaluru stampede: Secretary, treasurer of Karnataka State Cricket Association resign
The secretary and treasurer of the Karnataka State Cricket Association have resigned from their posts, taking 'moral responsibility' for the stampede outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium that killed 11 persons and injured more than 50, reported PTI on Saturday. The stampede took place on Wednesday at Gate Number 3 of the stadium, where fans had gathered to celebrate Royal Challengers Bengaluru's victory in the Indian Premier League and welcome the team. Shankar and Jairam's resignation came a day after the Karnataka High Court granted interim protection from arrest to senior officials of the Karnataka State Cricket Association, provided that they cooperate with the police, reported The Indian Express. The cricket association and the Royal Challengers Bangalore cricket team had approached the High Court in connection with the first information reports filed against them, The Indian Express reported. They had moved the court seeking that the case against them be quashed. On Thursday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah suspended Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda and several police officers. On Friday, the Karnataka Police arrested four persons, including Nikhil Sosale, the marketing head of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, along with event management firm DNA Entertainment Networks' Sunil Mathew, Kiran and Sumanth. Siddaramaiah also announced a judicial probe into the stampede, to be headed by retired Karnataka High Court judge Justice Michael D'Cunha. This inquiry will run alongside the earlier magisterial investigation already assigned to Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner Dayananda K Jagadeesha, The News Minute reported.

The letter, dated June 4, was a swift response to KSCA's request on June 3, but came with a comprehensive list of stringent conditions, anticipating a large gathering. The victory celebrations for RCB, which lifted the IPL trophy after 18 years, turned tragic on Wednesday as 11 people were killed in a stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium near the Vidhan Soudha. Foremost among the government's concerns was the potential for damage to the iconic Vidhana Soudha premises. 'As a large crowd is expected, precautions must be taken to ensure no damage is caused to the grand steps, statues, roads, or gardens," the letter stated, making it clear that KSCA would be liable for full repair costs in case of any mishap. Other key conditions included obtaining prior permissions from the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, BBMP, and other authorities, ensuring no obstruction to traffic or office work, and maintaining strict cleanliness. Plastic items were strictly prohibited. Financial stipulations were also laid out, requiring a Rs 10,000 advance security deposit for refreshments and a non-refundable Rs 10,000 cleaning fee. Crucially, a substantial security deposit of Rs 15 lakh was mandated for tents and other arrangements. The government also insisted on mandatory certifications for any structural or electrical installations on the grand steps, emphasising the KSCA's sole responsibility for any untoward incidents. Further safety measures included the deployment of firefighters, fire tenders, and health department medical staff. Drone usage was strictly banned as the area is a no-drone zone. The letter also stipulated that furniture must be removed within three hours of the event's conclusion to avoid forfeiture of the security deposit, and that KSCA was responsible for identifying and managing invitees. The letter comes amid a blame-game between the government and the organisers over the event that killed 11 and led to over 45 being injured. CNN-News18 had earlier reported that Bengaluru Police were not in favour of the felicitation ceremony at the Vidhana Soudha. The chaos erupted with RCB announcing the victory parade in a social media post on Wednesday morning. What ensued was utter chaos—uncertainty over the parade's status, conflicting information about ticket requirements, poor communication, multiple rescheduling, and finally the tragedy. The chief minister had then blamed the Karnataka Cricket Association, which had organised the event, saying: 'We did not organise the event, the cricket association did. Our duty was to provide security. The crowd turnout should have been equal to the number of passes given. What can we do if more people come?
