Iowa basketball to take part in 2025 Thanksgiving week classic
Iowa basketball will be taking part in a Thanksgiving week holiday classic in 2025.
As more details about next season's non-conference schedule take shape, Total Sports Consulting announced on Monday that Iowa basketball will take part in the 2025 Acrisure Series. Iowa will play two games in the event on Nov. 25 and on Nov. 26 from Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, Calif.

Other confirmed teams for the Acrisure Series include Colorado, Minnesota, Utah, Stanford, Washington, San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Jose State, California Baptist, San Diego, Nevada, Loyola Chicago, Tulsa and Northern Iowa.
The schedule for the Acrisure Series is still being finalized and matchups will be announced at a later date. All games will be televised on TNT Sports, truTV or MAX.
The Hawkeyes will also be playing Xavier on Friday, Nov. 14. CBS Sports reporter Jon Rothstein broke the news last week that Iowa basketball had locked in a home-and-home series with the Xavier Musketeers.
As anticipation for Ben McCollum's inaugural season directing the Hawkeyes builds, he and the Iowa coaching staff continue to do a terrific job putting their first roster together.

On Monday, Iowa announced it had signed former Robert Morris forward and reigning Horizon League Player of the Year Alvaro Folgueiras to a scholarship agreement.
The 6-foot-9, 215 pound forward averaged 14.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game while shooting 54.8% from the field, 41.3% from 3-point range and 78.4% from the free-throw line. A native of Málaga, Spain, Folgueiras played in and started all 35 games last season as he led the Colonials to the Horizon League regular season and tournament championships.
Folgueiras joins a group of that includes Drake transfers Bennett Stirtz, Kael Combs, Cam Manyawu, Isaia Howard and Tavion Banks, high school signee Trevin Jirak and Hawkeye returnee Cooper Koch.

Texas A&M is reportedly the 'frontrunner' for elite 2026 4-star wide receiver Two of Texas A&M's priority prospects in the 2026 recruiting class will take an official visit to College Station this weekend, as five-star wide receiver Ethan "Boobie" Feaster and five-star OL/DL Lamar Brown represents the two most essential prospects for coach Mike Elko and his staff that will make their final decision early next month. Yes, OC Collin Klein and WR coach Holmon Wiggins also deserve credit, but it starts at the top, especially battling the likes of LSU, USC, Texas, and Alabama. From a production standpoint, Featster has delivered impressive statistics that align with his recruiting expectations. He wrapped up his 2024 sophomore season with a personal best of 57 receptions, 855 yards, and 14 touchdowns. Throughout two varsity seasons, Feaster has amassed 1,489 yards and 23 touchdowns. According to On3, Feaster is currently positioned as the 44th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 5th-ranked wide receiver prospect, and the 5th-ranked prospect in Texas. Colorado football lands in final three schools for four-star in-state tackle Colorado's head coach, Deion Sanders, has excelled at recruiting since he took over, landing some of the most impressive recruits in school history and multiple five-stars. Sanders has made the Buffaloes' offensive line a focal point, and Coach Prime is close to landing another outstanding lineman to further the rebuild. The Buffaloes were announced as finalists for four-star tackle Deacon Schmitt out of Windsor, Colorado. The local product stands 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, potentially bringing collegiate-ready size to the Buffaloes. Schmitt announced that he is down to three schools, Oklahoma, Alabama and Colorado, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett. Schmitt visited Boulder on May 2, the earliest visit of any of the three finalist schools. He visited Oklahoma on June 6 and Alabama on May 30. Schmitt displays quality footwork and above-average mobility, but what flashes on his tape is his tenacity. On multiple plays, you can find him driving his matchup five or 10 yards off the line of scrimmage, even if the play isn't going his way.
