Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao bats for simplification of building construction rules
Speaking at a programme organised at the Sullia Urban Development Authority building, the Minister said that the public and elected representatives have brought to his notice that the construction of buildings and houses is getting delayed due to issues related to the registration of sites/land, obtaining khata, approving building plans, and single-site approval.
Mr. Rao said that he will discuss the matter with the Urban Development Minister and urge him to modify the department's rules to enable applicants to obtain permissions in a hassle-free manner.
The Minister stated that issues, including the disputes related to revenue and forest land, are causing delays in urban development authorities approving site permissions. Both the revenue and forest departments should conduct joint inspections and surveys to address problems faced by the authorities, he added.
Mr. Rao stated that files relating to the grant of land under Section 94(C) of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964, should not be delayed for 'unnecessary' reasons.
Earlier, Mr. Rao inaugurated the new sub-divisional engineering office building of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department at Sullia, as well as the Block Public Health Laboratory and mortuary at Sullia Taluk Hospital. He also inaugurated the new office building of the Range Forest Officer, Department of Social Forestry, in Sullia, as well as the new office building of the Sullia Urban Development Authority.
Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya was present.

BRS leader Rama Rao demands revision of ECI appointment process
Hyderabad, Aug 17 (PTI) BRS Working President K T Rama Rao on Sunday alleged that the Election Commission seems to be functioning as an extended arm of the NDA and demanded revision of the ECI appointment process. Reacting to the EC's press conference, Rao, in a post on 'X', said: 'Today's press conference left us with more questions than answers. Chief Election Commissioner's explanations seem more like excuses than solutions". Addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Sunday, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gynaesh Kumar said the electoral roll revision is aimed at removing all shortcomings in voter lists and it is a matter of grave concern that some parties are spreading misinformation about it and 'firing from the EC's shoulder". Kumar sought to demolish 'vote theft' allegations levelled by Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders, citing provisions of the Constitution and clauses of electoral laws. The BRS leader said, 'Yes! We need an SIR! The Special Intensive Revision not of the electoral rolls but of the Election Commission of India itself. The only thing that we clearly now know is that the Election Commission of India (ECI) which is supposed to safeguard the democratic process seems to be functioning as an extended arm of the NDA". Rao said if the ECI acknowledges 'discrepancies" in the voter list, shouldn't they also accept the 'dereliction of their duties?" 'It is high time that we demand a revision not of the voter list but a revision of ECI appointment process…a clinical overhaul of the system so that we can still continue to call ourselves a democracy," he said. Double standards of Centre and State govt. exposed one more time, alleges KTR
HYDERABAD Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has ridiculed the double standards of the NDA government and the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA), stating that they are not acting on the sinking of the coffer dam of the Polavaram project for the second time. In a statement, Mr. Rao said on Saturday that the NDSA had not taken up investigation into the washing away of the Polavaram cofferdam in 2020 that happened for the first time, even after being asked to go into the matter. The NDA government gave national project status to Polavaram and funded its construction - but is not looking into the quality aspects of construction, he said. During the run-up to the last Assembly elections in Telangana, a few piers of the Medigadda Barrage of Kaleshwaram project sank and damaged the structure under suspicious circumstances, but neither the BJP leaders nor those of the Congress, who had been indulging in mudslinging on Kaleshwaram project continuously, and terming it as 'kuleshwaram' (a collapsed project) repeatedly - had raised an issue on Polavaram, Mr. Rao said. He sought to know if the BJP and the Congress have the guts to term Polavaram as 'kulavaram' since its coffer dam was washed away once and sunk for the second time. In the second instance, it sunk for 10 meters width and about 8 meters deep, and the Andhra Pradesh government had taken up repairs on a war-footing silently, he said. On the other hand, the 'foolishness' of the Congress government is preventing it from taking up repairs on Medigadda Barrage and in giving water to the large ayacut depending on waters lifted from the point, even 20 months after coming to power, he said. Further, the NDSA proved its double standards by not taking up investigation into the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapse in February that buried eight workers, technicians and engineers alive. It is also indicative of the Congress-BJP conspiracy against Kaleshwaram, he alleged.
