Paul George has arthroscopic knee surgery after recent workout injury
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia 76ers wing player Paul George had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Monday to treat an injury that occurred during a recent workout.
The club said the procedure was performed by Dr. Jonathan L. Glashow at the NYU–Langone Sports Medicine Orthopedic Center.

George's rehabilitation program is set to begin and he will be re-evaluated prior to the start of training camp, the Sixers said.
The coming NBA season would be George's 16th since Indiana drafted him 10th overall in 2010 out of Fresno State.
George, who turned 35 on May 2, signed a $212 million, four-year contract in free agency last summer. But his first year in Philly was marred by knee and adductor injuries that resulted in the forward having one of the worst years of his NBA career.
He averaged 16.2 points in just 41 games, easily his lowest scoring average in a full season since he averaged 12.1 points for Indiana in his second NBA season.
The nine-time NBA All-Star has averaged 20.6 points in 908 career games.

If Brad Stevens could also do that in a way to improve the rest of his roster, it's possible that things could look great for the Celtics in the short and long term. When recently looking for a few trade ideas around for Anfernee Simons, Matt Moore of FanSided proposed a few intriguing ones. Perhaps his most intriguing, however, was a deal with the Chicago Bulls for Nikola Vucevic and Ayo Dosunmu. 'That, along with the Giddey extension, sets their direction for the long-term in the backcourt while Matas Buzelis develops... The Celtics shave off another $1.4 million off their cap space, while continuing to clean the books for 2026, and add a dogged defender in Dosunmu who fits their system better than Simons. Think of what Dosunmu will learn as Derrick White's understudy,' he wrote. Vucevic would be an interesting piece for the Celtics, as he has a somewhat similar skill set to Kristaps Porzingis. While Porzingis is much better, and tough to disagree with, Vucevic can also make shots from beyond the arc, so in that sense, they have some similarities. Dosunmu could also be a decent piece, and perhaps someone who could run the second unit, depending on what the Celtics want to do.

Report: Packers RB Emanuel Wilson avoids serious knee injury
Green Bay Packers running back Emanuel Wilson avoided a serious knee injury at Friday's practice and shouldn't miss much time, according to reporting from Bill Huber of Wilson, the team's backup running back behind Josh Jacobs last season, went down awkwardly while attempting to catch a pass during a team period on Friday. Despite initial concerns of a major injury, it appears Wilson avoided a worst-case scenario and will eventually return during training camp. Huber described the injury as a "tweak" and reported there is "no damage" inside the knee. The Packers are already without running back MarShawn Lloyd, who injured his groin during the team's first padded practice of the week and is expected to miss time into next week. Wilson rushed 103 times for 502 yards and four touchdowns and caught 11 passes for 48 yards and another touchdown across 17 games last season. The Packers also have veteran Chris Brooks, rookies Jalen White and Amir Johnson and recent addition Israel Abanikanda at running back behind Jacobs entering the team's Family Night practice at Lambeau Field on Saturday. Maple Leafs, Nick Robertson reach 1-year, $1.825 million deal to avoid arbitration hearing
TORONTO – The Toronto Maple Leafs and restricted free agent Nick Robertson agreed to a one-year deal worth $1.825 million, the team announced Saturday, avoiding the scheduled arbitration hearing. The Leafs and Robertson were set to go before an arbitrator on Aug. 3 after he elected salary arbitration earlier this month. That earned him a raise on the $875,000, one-year deal he signed last September. A second-round pick by Toronto in 2019 who made his NHL debut as an 18-year-old during the 2020 COVID-19 playoffs, Robertson is still pushing to carve out a more established role with the team. He was scratched for 10 of 13 playoff games in the spring after being sat down for Game 7 against the Boston Bruins during the 2024 playoffs. He scored goals in four games immediately following a scratch last season. Even after signing a third NHL contract with the Leafs, Robertson's future with the organization remains murky. The 23-year-old publicly requested a trade last summer and is facing yet another season where he'll be in a battle for minutes and opportunity with the Leafs currently carrying 14 forwards following the offseason acquisitions of Matias Maccelli, Nicolas Roy, Dakota Joshua and Michael Pezzetta. There's also the possibility 2023 first-round pick Easton Cowan pushes for a spot on the roster during training camp. With that glut of NHL-calibre players, the Leafs could still ship out one or more of David Kämpf, Calle Järnkrok or Robertson before the season begins. However, they've been reluctant to part with Robertson because of his age-related upside and ability to put the puck in the net. Just 19 players from the 2019 NHL Draft have scored more career NHL goals than the 53rd pick. And Robertson has done that while receiving depth minutes at 5-on-5 and limited power-play usage. The next hurdle for Robertson is establishing himself as an everyday player who can be trusted to handle the highest-leverage situations. That means earning the coach's trust with more disciplined play and better puck decisions so that he can be in position to utilize his biggest weapon — his shot — in games carrying the highest stakes for his team.
