Cheech And Chong THC Seltzers Highlighted At Tales Of The Cocktail
In what is being described as 'a groundbreaking cultural first for both the cannabis and spirits industries,' New Orleans' Tales of the Cocktail has named High & Dry THC-infused seltzers from iconic comedy duo Cheech & Chong as the first cannabis beverage sponsor for the Spirited Awards.
The nonprofit organization Tales of the Cocktail Foundation works to empower the global hospitality industry through education, advocacy and community support. At its annual conference held in New Orleans each July, the group brings the hospitality industry together for an event 'that blends education, networking, and celebration like no other,' according to organizers.
Cheech & Chong's High & Dry seltzers come in a variety of flavors and feature 5mg of THC per can.
The conference also honors leaders from the global cocktail industry with its coveted Spirited Awards in categories such as World's Best Cocktail Bar, World's Best Cocktail Menu and Tales Visionary Award, among others.
Cheech & Chong's High & Dry Seltzers are hemp-based THC-infused canned beverages designed to deliver the psychoactive effects of cannabis in a palatable, drinkable formulation. A growing category that is gaining market share, hemp-derived THC beverages have become a common sight at liquor stores and bars in some states since the legalization of hemp agriculture and products via the 2018 Farm Bill.
First Cannabis Beverage Spirited Awards Sponsor
This year marks the first time that the Spirited Awards has embraced a cannabis brand as an official sponsor of the event. As part of the festivities, weed culture heroes Cheech & Chong (Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong) will present the Spirited Awards for the Best Broadcast, Podcast or Online Video Series and the Best Cocktail and Spirits Publication.
The High & Dry seltzers will also be highlighted throughout the Tales of the Cocktail experience, giving bartenders and other industry professionals an opportunity to sample the products and learn how they integrate with the cocktail world.
'We're not just bringing drinks-we're bringing the culture,' Chong, co-founder of Cheech & Chong's Beverages, said in a statement from the company. 'High & Dry is all about fun, connection, and new experiences. And Tales of the Cocktail is the perfect place to share it.'
Hemp-THC Drinks A 'Whole New Category' In Cannabis Consumption
In an exclusive interview, Marin says that hemp-derived THC beverages including the High & Dry Seltzers and the company's High Tea THC-infused iced tea offerings make cannabis accessible to a wide range of consumers.
'It's a whole new category, it's a brand-new way of enjoying the herb,' says. 'And we want to go to where the people are, and make it easier, so you can get your you're drink at a grocery store, you know? And that makes it a lot easier for when you go watch your kid play soccer.'
Cheech Marin (l) and Tommy Chong
Cheech & Chong's THC infused seltzers are available in a variety of flavors, as are the High Tea canned iced tea drinks. When asked what sets his THC-infused beverages apart from the others in a market crowed with weed drinks, Marin notes one important difference.
'Well, you know, they're called Cheech and Chong,' he replies with a chuckle. 'And everybody knows that name. So, we hope that this stands for high quality and enjoyability and accessibility and you know, we kind of want to spread the news. At a certain age, you get kind of wary of smoking, you know, and I know the age. Hemp or THC in a liquid form, that's a lot better.'
Tales of the Cocktail kicks off on July 20 in New Orleans and runs through July 25.

This buddy cop comedy is one of three Netflix action movies you need to watch (August 2025)
This month on Netflix, we're spotlighting the action comedy. What's better than mixing in a few laughs with some fight scenes and explosions? Our first movie features an actor — the funniest man alive — reprising a legendary role in Beverly Hills. Our second pick is a buddy cop movie from the '90s featuring an indelible duo. Finally, we're taking you back to 1980 to experience some blues music. All three action movies are now streaming on Netflix. Recommended Videos We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, and the best movies on Amazon Prime Video. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024) More often than not, legacy sequels fail to recapture the magic of their predecessor. Look no further than Space Jam: A New Legacy, Zoolander 2, The Exorcist: Believer, and Jaws: The Revenge as examples. Luckily for the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, it has Eddie Murphy, who reprised his iconic role as Axel Foley in the surprisingly effective fourth outing, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. When Axel Foley (Murphy) heads back to Los Angeles, it's personal. He's looking to reconnect with his daughter, Jane Saunders (Taylour Paige), a defense attorney. When a criminal organization zeroes in on Jane, Axel teams with her ex-boyfriend (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and his two old friends, Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton), to protect his daughter. You can't fake charisma, and when Murphy slips back into Axel's fast-talking ways, the movie soars. Stream Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F on Netflix. Rush Hour (1998) I'm unaware of the national consensus on Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker as a buddy cop duo. For me, they're top draft picks. The martial arts star and the comedic lightning rod joined forces in 1998's Rush Hour. After the kidnapping of a Chinese diplomat's daughter, Hong Kong Detective Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) travels to America to work the case. However, the FBI does not want Lee to be involved, so they assign him to be the LAPD's problem. Enter Detective James Carter (Chris Tucker), the obnoxious and smooth-talking cop tasked with babysitting Lee. Lee and Carter initially hate each other. However, the duo realizes that their best chance of saving the little girl is to work together. From Chan's extravagant fight choreography to Carter's crisp one-liners, Rush Hour is a classic '90s comedy that remains a gold standard for chemistry between co-stars. Stream Rush Hour on Netflix. The Blues Brothers (1980) With elaborate car chases and thunderous explosions, The Blues Brothers is most definitely an action comedy. John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd star as Jake and Elwood, the Blues Brothers, based on their excellent sketch from Saturday Night Live. After being released from jail, Jake reunites with Elwood and checks in on the Catholic orphanage that raised them. Unfortunately, the orphanage will close unless they pay $5,000 in property taxes. After an epiphany, Jake and Elwood decide to reform their band, the Blues Brothers, and organize a concert to raise money. Along the way, the Blues Brothers are chased by Neo-Nazis, rival bands, police, and a sadistic woman. The music is great, the chases are exciting, and the laughs are nonstop. What more could you want? Stream Blues Brothers on Netflix.

Tom Brady Jokes He Feels 'Kind of Old' as His Statue Is Unveiled by the Patriots Outside of Gillette Stadium
NEED TO KNOW The New England Patriots unveiled a 12-foot-tall statue of Tom Brady outside of Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., on Saturday, Aug. 9 The retired star quarterback told fans gathered at the unveiling in Patriot Place Plaza that he never imagined "being made of bronze and frozen in time" He also said, "I feel extremely honored, deeply grateful and, if I'm being honest, kind of old"Tom Brady is being honored for being an unshakable force on the field — fittingly with a 12-foot-tall bronze statue now standing proud outside of Gillette Stadium. The seven-time Super Bowl champion, 48, was immortalized at Patriot Place Plaza on Saturday, Aug. 9, when the New England Patriots organization and CEO Robert Kraft unveiled a towering statue in his likeness ahead of the team's 2025 home game against the Washington Commanders. Kraft previously announced the honor during Brady's 2024 Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony, before making it official on Saturday. After Kraft, 84, spoke about his franchise's former star quarterback, he and Brady stood up to watch the unveiling, as flames shot up behind the statue. Brady then examined the statue from the back, gave Kraft a hug and shared some remarks with fans in attendance. "Right now, I feel extremely honored, deeply grateful and, if I'm being honest, kind of old," Brady joked during the unveiling ceremony outside of the stadium that was his home turf from 2000 to 2019. "I'm also a little surprised because usually they don't build statues until you're really old... It's not every day you get a statue, at least not one like this," he continued. "Seeing myself as a statue isn't something I could've ever imagined growing up. When I was drafted, I just hoped to make the team. I never dreamed I'd be standing here two-and-a-half decades later, made of bronze and frozen in time. It actually feels pretty appropriate, given my 40-yard dash time." Brady called the moment an "incredible honor," joking that it marked the "first time" in his life that Boston sportswriters would describe him as "chiseled." Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. He then thanked the Kraft family for their "leadership," his former teammates and coaches for their efforts, and his family — which includes children Jack, 17, Benjamin, 15, and Vivian, 12. "I'm sure most of them are mumbling under their breath right now, 'Yeah, we love you, but a statue?' " Brady joked. "In the end, this statue isn't just for Pats fans," he later said. "It'll also give Jets fans something to throw beers at as they leave the stadium every year. Probably in the second quarter. Maybe the third." Brady then said that, ultimately, the statue wasn't about just "one guy," but rather a "team and a commitment to being great together." He continued: "To think that a kid from California might someday travel here to this plaza, stop, gaze at this work of art and say, 'Who the hell is that guy?' I've said this before, but I want to say it again: I'm humbled and honored to have been part of this organization for 20 incredible years. You guys shaped my life and the life of my family. And for that, I'm forever grateful." As for Kraft, the team's owner called the statue a way to "immortalize" a man he considered to be the "greatest NFL player of all time." "Tom was the 199th draft pick, who not only transformed himself into the greatest quarterback the league has ever seen, but also helped transform the Patriots into a 20-year dynasty," Kraft said. "He demanded excellence of himself and made everyone around him better. Tom wasn't just the face of our franchise, he was the true heartbeat." Brady played for the Patriots for two decades after being selected 199th in the 2000 NFL Draft. Between then and 2020 — when he left New England for free agency and joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Brady earned six Super Bowl championships with the franchise. He later led the Bucs to a Super Bowl of their own in 2021, before his retirement in 2023. According to the Patriots organization, the newest addition to Gillette Stadium makes Brady the first player in franchise history to earn the honor of having a bronze statue standing at the location. Per ESPN, the statue was created by a local sculptor and its granite base was quarried in Vermont. Read the original article on People
