Call to unearth contemporary knowledge from Sanskrit
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami called Dharma (righteousness) as the essence of the Vedic religion, as enshrined in Sanskrit literature. He called Sanskrit as having the disciplines such as Ethics, Law, Political Science etc., thus containing the essence of all aspects of Dharma.
Recalling the efforts of the Government of India to re-establish India as the 'Vishwaguru' (global teacher), Mr. Dhami mentioned the creating of Centre for Hindu Studies, spiritual corridors and special scholarships introduced for Sanskrit students as the major initiatives.
Odisha Governor Kambhampati Hari Babu called Sanskrit as not just a language, but a 'living legacy' that guides human life. He maintained that profound knowledge hidden in Sanskrit language had to be unearthed and deciphered. In this context, he mentioned the construction of Ram Setu, Brahmastra and Pashupatastra to highlight the scientific stature of the language.
'Paninian grammar in Sanskrit is useful for modern computational linguistics and artificial intelligence', Mr. Hari Babu said, adding that architectural structures and Vaastu are encoded within Sanskrit.
NSU Vice-Chancellor G.S.R. Krishnamurthy highlighted the university's significant efforts taken for the propagation of Sanskrit and explained the ongoing activities.
Later, Mr. Hari Babu and Mr. Dhami participated in the inauguration of Akshara Purushothama Mandir (belonging to Sri Swami Narayan tradition) constructed in the varsity's Heritage Corridor. BAPS Chief Priest Sadhu Bhadreshdas Swami also participated.

Retrograde Planets: The cosmic code of pending karma
In the vast theater of the cosmos, the planets move in their intricate orbits with divine precision. Yet, from Earth, they sometimes appear to pause and move backward. In Vedic astrology, retrogradation—this celestial illusion—is far more than a curious astronomical phenomenon. Retrograde planets, also known as Vakri Grahas, are considered powerful karmic messengers, urging us to revisit lessons left incomplete in past lives. Rather than being feared, they should be seen as cosmic accountants of pending karma, summoning the soul to complete what it once began. When a planet turns retrograde, its energy doesn't weaken; instead, it becomes deeply self-reflective and karmically potent. Rahu and Ketu are always retrograde, while the Sun and Moon never retrograde. The five major planets that periodically go into retrograde motion are Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. According to Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Phaladeepika, and other classical texts, these planets retain their strength, but express it in unusual ways—often resulting in surprising, unconventional outcomes. A weak retrograde planet can sometimes behave like an exalted one, while an exalted retrograde planet may act in ways that defy its natural disposition. The idea of pending karma is intricately tied to retrograde motion. If you have retrograde planets in your natal chart, you may often feel as though you are repeating certain patterns. For example: Venus retrograde may signify unresolved emotional patterns or relationships the soul is revisiting. Saturn retrograde can feel like a second chance to fulfill duties or responsibilities missed in a past life. Jupiter retrograde turns the light of wisdom inward, encouraging introspection and spiritual realignment rather than external expansion. The effects of a retrograde planet vary depending on the house it occupies in one's birth chart. As each house governs a distinct area of life, retrograde motion brings karmic reflection specific to that realm. 1st House (Self & Identity): Encourages introspection about self-image and expression. Life becomes a mirror, revealing outdated habits and thought patterns needing change. 2nd House (Wealth, Values & Communication): Teaches lessons about past misuse or neglect of resources and words. 3rd House (Courage, Communication & Siblings): Heals old wounds, develops new skills, and confronts shyness or fear rooted in past experiences. 4th House (Home, Mother & Emotions): Stirs family karma, emotional restlessness, and unresolved maternal dynamics. 5th House (Creativity, Children & Romance): Brings delayed recognition of talent, karmic ties with children, or rekindling of past romances. 6th House (Service, Health & Conflict): Revisits old ailments, work-related tensions, or karmic debts needing humility and perseverance. 7th House (Marriage & Partnerships): Indicates karmic relationships, those that feel destined or cyclic offering closure or healing. 8th House (Transformation, Secrets & Inheritance): Deeply transformative; triggers past-life fears, inheritance issues, or intense spiritual awakenings. 9th House (Dharma, Teachers & Philosophy): Revisits spiritual paths or philosophies, often reconnecting with mentors or teachings from previous incarnations. 10th House (Career & Social Status): Brings professional obstacles or detours to realign ambition with soul purpose. 11th House (Goals, Gains & Friendships): Revisits old alliances and redefines desires, steering away from material obsession. 12th House (Spirituality, Loss & Liberation): The most spiritual house, evokes past-life memories, hidden fears, and the need for solitude, reflection, and karmic release. Understanding the placement of retrograde planets transforms fear into opportunity. Life may occasionally feel stagnant or repetitive, but within that stillness lies the call to complete unfinished chapters of the soul. The solution isn't resistance, but awareness and alignment, through meditation, self-reflection, service, and humility. The sages taught that retrograde planets do not punish—they prepare us. They slow down external progress to accelerate inner growth, guiding us to walk the path again and again until the lesson is truly absorbed. Retrograde planets remind us that the soul's journey is neither linear nor hurried. It loops through forgotten routes, revisits old scripts, and relives emotional echoes, until all karmic accounts are settled. The planets' backward motion is not a regression, but a divine spiral toward soul completion and cosmic resolution. This article is written by by Shri ShivaAmit Khanna ji. They Saw It Coming (Kind Of). Astrologers Fight For Credit After Uttarakhand Cloudburst
Uttarakhand's Dharali village became the epicentre of devastation after a deadly cloudburst triggered flash floods in the region. A deadly cloudburst in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi district triggered flash floods on Tuesday, August 5, that caused widespread devastation in the high-altitude village of Dharali. At least 4 people lost their lives in the disaster, while 130 others were rescued as authorities worked swiftly despite continuous rainfall and challenging weather conditions in the region. Shocking visuals from the scene showed flash floodwaters rushing through the river and then sweeping away hotels, houses, shops, trees, vehicles and everything in the path. While rescue operations are still underway, the tragedy has also sparked an unexpected online dispute between two astrologers. The practitioners Astro Sharmistha and Priyanka have entered into a public disagreement over the astrological explanation behind the calamity. What Priyanka Said Priyanka, who identifies as a Vedic astrologer and spiritual awakener, posted a long explanation on X (formerly Twitter) refuting popular claims that 'Jupiter in Ardra Nakshatra" was responsible for the cloudburst. 'Less knowledge is always dangerous: A few Astrologers are claiming that the Cloud burst has happened due to Jupiter in Ardra. Little do they know that cloud bursts happen due to the fixed star Sheat. Jupiter does cause calamities in Ardra nakshatra, but if it comes to cloud bursts, it's something else," she wrote. She went on to explain that the fixed star Sheat (also spelt Scheat) is typically linked with water-related disasters such as cloudburst, floods, shipwrecks and storms, especially when affected by 'transiting malefic planets like Mars, Saturn, Neptune, or Uranus." 'Currently, Saturn and Neptune are close to this fixed star at 07 degrees. Sheat is placed at 6 degrees of Pisces. And also, Health issues will be there, like a water-borne disease or a flu. But there will be NO PANDEMIC. So let us keep it clear and simple," she added. How Sharmistha Responded The comment grabbed Sharmistha's attention, who also frequently shares astrological insights online. She accused Priyanka of making baseless claims for attention and dismissed her interpretation involving fixed stars. 'She has no guts to have a debate and discussion on the technicalities of Astrology, with whatever silly talks she knows. That's why she blocked me. The ultimate goal is to get the followers by putting fingers on bigger profiles. Why the hell to follow fixed stars when it's all about Vedic astrology?" she wrote on X. 'Point is not cloud burst; calamity in Uttarakhand is the highlight here, just the way it happened in 2013, massive earthquake and flooding with Jupiter in Ardra. Similarly, in 2025, Uttarakhand is going through flooding and calamity due to the Guru in Ardra transit. Astrology is not about being self proclaimed Guru ma in a WhatsApp group and selling Yantra. It requires Kripa to get astrology in life. Not everyone has it!" she added. In a post dated the same day, she had written: 'It is very unfortunate that we lost so many lives in the Air India crash in Ahmedabad. In it, she had claimed that a crash was likely to happen in 2025: The astrologer had earlier shared a 'condolence" message in response to the June 12 Air India crash that was linked to a post she had made on June 5. In that post, she made several claims, which included that she is still confident in her 'prediction of a plane crash and destruction in aviation in 2025". She had first 'predicted" a major crash making headlines back in October last year, and later repeated the warning after the Jeju Flight crash on December 29, 2024. In the same post, she also mentioned that aviation would do better in 2025 and will flourish, but 'safety and security will be missing." Many users had slammed Sharmistha for being insensitive, while others accused her of trying to gain attention by connecting the tragedy to her old predictions.
