World Governments Summit reveals record international participation with over 30 heads of state and government, 140 international government delegations

Speaking at the World Governments Summit Dialogue, held today at the Museum of the Future in Dubai to address the key themes and latest additions to WGS, His Excellency Al Gergawi said: 'The World Government Summit has achieved its prominent status through a unique and forward-thinking vision. His Excellency Al Gergawi announced that this year's Summit will host over 30 heads of state and government, 80+ international organizations, 140 government delegations, and 6,000+ participants, including leading global experts. The expanded agenda features 21 global forums exploring future trends across 200+ interactive sessions, addressed by 300+ prominent figures. Over 30 ministerial meetings and roundtables will convene 400+ ministers, culminating in the release of 30 strategic reports developed with the Summit's international knowledge partners.

Seychelles participates in the 45th Ordinary Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit of Heads of State and Government
The 45th Ordinary Summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Heads of State and Government, along with the preceding Senior Officials and Council of Ministers meetings, took place in Antananarivo, Madagascar from 4th to 17th August 2025. During the opening ceremony of the Summit on Sunday 17th August, 2025, H.E Mr. Andry Rajoelina, President of the Republic of Madagascar officially assumed the SADC Chairpersonship, succeeding Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe. The Republic of Seychelles was represented by Mr. Jean-François Ferrari, Principal Minister, who led the Seychelles delegation. He was accompanied by Mr. Christian Faure, Director General for Regional Affairs, and Ms. Trisha Hoareau, Second Secretary from the Department of Foreign Affairs. Hosted under the theme, 'Advancing Industrialisation, Agricultural Transformation, and Energy Transition for a Resilient SADC,' the Summit deliberations focused on accelerating regional integration through enhanced development cooperation. The Summit also provided an opportunity for member states to discuss the review on the progress of the region on the Regional Strategic Indicative Development Plan (RISDP) 2020-2030. A key discussion of the Summit was for the development of a value proposition, a detailed investment plan and roadmap on North South Economic Corridor including a SADC Maritime Corridor Strategy. The Summit further approved the reappointment of H.E Mr. Elias Magosi as SADC Executive Secretary for a second term of four years. India, Qatar push to double trade by 2030
India and Qatar are making 'steady, structured progress' on the commitments agreed upon during the landmark state visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to India last February, as both countries seek to double bilateral trade by 2030. Speaking on the sidelines of the recent launch of 'India Utsav 2025' at LuLu Hypermarket Al Gharafa, Indian ambassador Vipul emphasised that His Highness the Amir's visit created a positive trajectory of cooperation and partnership with India as the two nations seek to enhance economic, cultural, and political ties. Vipul noted that current bilateral trade has held steady, dominated by Qatari exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), as well as crude oil, petrochemicals, and urea. 'The trade between India and Qatar is, of course, dominated by the energy exports... and the overall figure has been about $14bn for the last two years between India and Qatar. India would be the second largest trading partner of Qatar... and I think India would be the third largest exporter to Qatar,' Vipul explained. Emphasising both countries' trade and economic goals to achieve wider trade and investment links, he said: 'We decided at the time of the visit that we should double our bilateral trade by 2030. So we have to keep making efforts in that regard.' According to Vipul, both governments are committed to expanding their trade baskets, capitalising on 'complementarities' between the two economies, and fostering stronger business-to-business links to give further momentum to growing cooperative relations. The ambassador also outlined ongoing talks across a broad range of sectors, including food processing, ports, shipping, civil aviation, infrastructure, Information Technology (IT), banking, financial services, and emerging fields like startups and technology partnerships. High-level Qatari delegations to India and joint commission meetings are planned in the coming months to maintain momentum, Vipul also pointed out. Aside from key targets, such as doubling bilateral trade by 2030 and further enhancing Qatari investments in India, India and Qatar are also creating more opportunities for Indian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in Qatar, according to Vipul. He said: 'It was decided that there should be further enhancement of Qatar investments in India...I also see a good opportunity for enhancing our partnership in startups and technology companies as well.' The ambassador added: 'We have to take advantage of those complementarities...
