India needs a scale of transformation to become 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047: Pranav Adani
New Delhi [India], June 19 (ANI): Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises, on Thursday said that the 'scale of transformation' is required for India to realise its full potential and become 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.
Speaking at the first foundation day of Chintan Research Foundation in New Delhi, Adani Enterprises Director said, 'The scale of transformation is required for India to realise the full potential and become 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047 as envisioned by PM Modi.'
Speaking on the activities of the Chintan Research Foundation (CRF), he said that the CRF focuses on crucial issues like climate change, equitable energy transition, the evolving global economy, crucial supply chains and dynamic trade relations, and geopolitics that shape the world's future.
'For three decades now, the Adani Group has been driving growth and accelerating innovation by entering the toughest and most critical infrastructure sectors of our nation. We see the Chintan Research Foundation working on the same lines, entering critical areas of research, deliberation, recommendation and impact while upholding independence and editorial integrity,' Adani added. Separately, speaking to ANI on the economic growth of India, Pranav Adani said, 'I think India is right now in a very great situation. I think these 1.4 billion people that we have are our real asset, like we heard in one of the speakers, he said that 50 per cent of the economy is really engaged in the growth of the GDP, and the other 50 per cent is passive. Now that has to really come into focus, and I think that's when the real Indian growth story will happen, and I'm very optimistic. We as a group are very optimistic.'
Emphasising inclusiveness, Adani Enterprises' Director stated that CRF's work and research should be diversified beyond national capital so that other regions get the benefit of the remote areas.
'Let us move beyond Delhi. India is not just one city or one region. It is a chorus of diverse voices across geographies. The time has come to be inclusive by reaching out to Ranchi, Raipur, Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, the northeast, the coastal areas, and the heartlands. Our work must extend to wherever our people are... The Chintan Research Foundation must deepen its presence across regions, conducting ground-level research, engaging with local policymakers and arranging events nationwide. This will help regional priorities to surface, and then our job is to bring them to the nation's attention,' Adani said.
He further added that the foundation 'must offer policy narratives' to other developing countries.
'At the same time, our ambition must also cross borders and oceans. As the Global South rises, we must offer policy narratives to other developing countries based on our growth experience,' he added. Speaking to the media after the event, Adani also spoke about the safety and security of the projects of the Adani group, given the tensions in the Middle East, adding, 'all our assets abroad are safe.'
'There are concerns, but luckily, all our assets abroad are safe. We shouldn't worry about it,' he added. (ANI)

Ottawa, June 19 (UNI) Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has said that exchanging high commissioners with India is a 'basic first step' in restoring the diplomatic relationship with New Delhi. Answering a media query on why his government has chosen to reappoint a high commissioner to India following talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Alberta, PM Carney said: 'It's a foundational necessary first step for the relationship, which is to exchange high commissioners, and re-begin effectively diplomatic service, or consular service. 'We have very deep ongoing ties, people to people, not just of Indo-Canadians but of Canadians with India. We don't have a high commissioner in India right now, we are not serving Canadians in India right now, because of where we are. It's reciprocal for the Indian government. 'So having a basic level of engagement is in many respects a duty of the government. I'm glad we came to the agreement understanding. It is also based on several things, the law enforcement cooperation, understanding of issues of transnational repression, which we discussed not just at the G7 but also in the conversation that PM Modi and I had.' To a question on whether the two leaders discussed the issue of the killing of prominent Khalistani and Indo-Canadian Hardeep Singh Nijjar in 2023 in British Columbia, over which issue the relations between the two nations had soured, PM Carney brushed it off, with: 'Look, I never make it a policy to give a line by line transcript readout of what exactly was said in the meeting, and I'm not about to start now.' On June 6, the Canadian PM called up PM Modi to invite him for the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta. Later on June 7, explaining his stance, PM Carney had said that India being the fifth largest economy in the world, having the largest population, and being central to very vital supply global value chains, deserves to be at the G7 Summit table, and that he had spoken to PM Modi to invite him. 'India is the fifth largest economy in the world, effectively the most populous country in the world, central to a number of those supply chains, at the heart of those supply chains, and so that (invite) makes sense. 'And in addition, bilaterally, we have now agreed, importantly, to continue law enforcement dialogue, so there's some progress on that which recognises issues of accountability. I extended the invitation to PM Modi in that context and he has accepted.' During their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit earlier this week, the two leaders agreed to reinstate High Commissioners in their respective countries. The two leaders also underscored the importance of 'restarting senior ministerial as well as working-level engagements across various domains to rebuild trust and bring momentum to the relationship'. They also discussed the importance of restarting the stalled trade negotiations. Prime Minister Modi in a post on X, termed their meeting as an excellent one and added that the two prime ministers look forward to working closely to add momentum to the bilateral friendship. 'Had an excellent meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney. Complimented him and the Canadian Government for successfully hosting the G7 Summit. 'India and Canada are connected by a strong belief in democracy, freedom and rule of law. 'PM Carney and I look forward to working closely to add momentum to the India-Canada friendship. MUMBAI: Amazon will invest $233 million (over Rs 2,000 crore) in India this year to expand and upgrade the company's operations infrastructure in the country. Portions of the capital will also be deployed to build new tools and technology for the firm's fulfilment network as the Seattle-based e-commerce company takes on deep-pocketed startups Zepto, Zomato, and Swiggy in the cash-guzzling quick commerce space. "This new investment builds on top of Amazon's investments in creating an ops network that helps the company deliver to all serviceable pin codes across India. This investment will enhance processing capacity, improve fulfilment speed, and increase efficiency across the company's operations network that will help Amazon serve customers across India faster," the firm said in a statement on Thursday. For Amazon, which entered India twelve years ago and was largely operating in a two-player e-commerce market alongside Walmart-controlled Flipkart for a good few years, competition has now grown. Startups such as Meesho, backed by storied investors like SoftBank, are foraying into the market and carving a space of their own by targeting a whole new set of customers who were underserved. They added that there is also "no clarity as yet" on any timeline for a confirmed meeting with representatives of the Chinese govt, despite the intervention of Indian officials. The applications for sourcing magnets were filed mainly by auto component manufacturers, who provide fully-built sophisticated component assemblies such as speedometers, electric motors, e-axles, electric water pumps, automatic transmission kits, speakers, sensors and ignition coils (used in engines). After this, the EUC needs to be sent to China for approvals - first from the provincial govt from where the exporter in China will produce and export and then from China's ministry of commerce.
