Winter pyjamas are so popular at our house that some days they never come off (hello, pyjama day!) and I'm not just talking about the kids.
The trouble is when you grab last year's pjs from the back of the cupboard, you might find, as I have, that your kids have had a growth spurt, and nothing fits. The pj bottoms finish half way up their legs and tops barely cover their stomach. Plus a year on, their tastes have changed, so while last winter was all about unicorns and dinosaurs, this year might be mermaids and superheroes. And who doesn't like a fresh new look?
To make your (winter) life easier, we've rounded up a few of our favourite pjs, in a range of fun colours, bold prints and cute styles that you can grab online and make your little ones eager for bedtime, night after night. They may not want to go to sleep, but getting the pjs on is definitely a step in the right direction.
Our top pick is the Oodie, the original oversized hooded blanket from the ultimate comfort brand, The Oodie. It may not be conventional sleepwear, but every kid needs one. Super warm and cosy, the Oodie is lined with ultra soft sherpa fleece and feels like a big warm hug. Perfect for kids to lounge around the home and snuggle up in bed on cold winter nights. And parents couldn't be happier.
'Super soft, really cute, fun design,' said a five-star reviewer. 'My daughter loves it and now doesn't have to steal her brother's.'
'Absolutely amazing!!!' said another. 'My kids love wearing these during winter! So soft and fluffy, definitely a must have!'
And if you have a toddler on your hands, you can't go past the Merino Wool Collection Sleepsuit from Love to Dream. Featuring 30 per cent merino wool filling, this zippered sleepsuit is so snug and cosy, it will keep your little one oh-so warm, (and hopefully asleep), all night long.
One parent described this sleepsuit as 'excellent' and left a five-star review saying, 'Our toddler adores her extra warm sleepsuit with legs – perfect for getting out of bed on chilly mornings.'
Keep reading to check out our top picks this season, but as many have already been discounted, you'll have to hurry …

WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING KIDS PYJAMAS
We took the following factors into consideration when choosing the pyjamas on this list:
Fit: It's always best to buy the right size for your kid and not be tempted to size up to get more wear out of your purchase. Chances are they will want a different style or pattern by the following year, so buy for comfort instead.
Feel: Kids are particular about the feel of their clothing particularly pjs, so make sure it's soft and comfy, rather than scratchy, itchy or any other word they come up with.
Fabric: Look for the right fabric to suit your climate. Soft breathable materials are always comfortable for nightwear, especially if you have a hot sleeper.
Cost: There's a huge variety in price points and you can choose between cheap and cheerful basics to something a little more luxe that might last longer.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT FABRIC IS BEST FOR KIDS' PYJAMAS
During winter, the best pyjama fabrics to opt for are flannel, fleece, cotton jersey and knit. Fleece and flannel are probably the warmest options if you live somewhere that gets super cold, whereas cotton jersey and knit are cosy while still being breathable and stretchy for comfort.
HOW MUCH SLEEP DO KIDS NEED?
The exact amount of sleep a child needs depends on their age, but for school age children, a total of nine to 11 hours of shut-eye is recommended per night.

Meghan's ‘hotel and restaurant' plan revealed as she looks to expand empire

The Duchess of Sussex is adding hotels and restaurants to her brand wish list as she goes on a social media charm offensive to win new fans. Ex-actress Meghan is trademarking her lifestyle firm As Ever for 'hospitality services'. It will include places to stay, 'provision of food and drink' and temporary lodgings, reports The Sun. The 43-year-old could serve some of her own food creations — including recipes flaunted on her Netflix series With Love, Meghan. Experts say it shows her ambition to move forward and focus on the future, while husband Prince Harry, 40, seems stuck reflecting on the past. She has spent the year rebranding herself away from runaway royal to a lifestyle, entertaining and star hostess. Brand experts said hotels and restaurants fit in with her lifestyle business image. In the first episode of her eight-part TV series in March, Meghan said: 'When I have someone stay, one of my favourite things to do is prep the guest room.' A second series has already been filmed and will be released in the autumn. Her lifestyle brand's website says: 'As Ever is more than a brand — it's a love language. 'Created by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, As Ever welcomes you to a collection of products, each inspired by her long-lasting love of cooking, entertaining and hostessing.' On Saturday, her As Ever page posted a new picture of her running through the sea in a white dress. It was captioned: 'So excited for all the good to come! 'Running into the weekend like', with an ocean wave emoji added. She has also been increasingly active on Instagram after relaunching her personal account on New Year's Day. Last week, she shared an 80-second video of her twerking in hospital in a bid to induce labour when she was pregnant and overdue with Lilibet. It attracted criticism in Britain for being vulgar. But a source said: 'Meghan is very pleased with the video. 'In the UK everyone's reaction has been a bit prudish but everywhere else, particularly in America and especially with young people, it's been a huge hit. 'Californian royalty' 'Her new products are marketed at Americans and not the UK.' Meghan has also posted videos of her family at Disneyland, beekeeping with daughter Lilibet, and going to a Beyonce concert with Harry. Her As Ever Instagram page launched in February. Posts include pictures of her gardening, preparing fresh fruit and baking. PR and branding expert Jack Izzard, of Gallia Communications, said of her trademark application: 'In terms of positioning, it's not a million miles from where As Ever is. 'She is very much positioning herself as a star hostess, Californian royalty who makes her guests feel welcome. 'The issue she's potentially going to have is that's a completely different skill set, running a hospitality business. 'A night in an As Ever B&B will be several hundred pounds. 'That's really going to blow up if it's bad.' Mr Izzard said her recent activities are 'all about her reclaiming her voice' and building her brand. He added: 'She always intimated she was stifled by life in the Royal Family. 'She's got to earn a living. It's very much 'I'm this Californian hostess now'. 'Harry's still stuck in the past and trying to settle scores. 'She is looking ahead, forging this brand.' Representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were approached for comment.

‘What do you mean?': Half-naked trend you are allowed to be intimidated by

'What do you mean we're not wearing pants anymore?' It was a sentence uttered to me by a friend over a $35 breakfast. He was wearing a puffer jacket, because it was a Saturday, and he is a white man, and he was also beginning his journey into the five stages of Millennial fashion grief — starting with denial. While trying not to dip my boxy blazer sleeve into my smashed avocado, I had to gently tell him that this was the new world order. He then swiftly moved into anger, 'Well, that's ridiculous,' and then onto bargaining, 'Are you sure it isn't just shorter shorts?' Then he sadly spiralled straight into depression, 'I'm getting too old for these trends, and who can pull it off?' Then, eventually, he got to acceptance, 'Maybe with a trench, it'd look cool, or will I just look like a creep?' I'd just dropped quite the bombshell on him by solemnly delivering the news that pants, much like flavoured lip-gloss and berets, unless you're in Paris, not just because you've watched Emily in Paris — are out. It was better he heard it from me than discover it at the local shopping centre, in a few months. There's nothing more confronting than discovering what is cool by what the Cotton On mannequins are dressed in. It's how so many discovered the return of the mico-mini skirt. It is downright embarrassing to learn what is trendy again in the unflattering lighting of a shopping centre. It can make anyone feel like a sad middle-aged woman, no matter how young and hot they are! Not that I would know, of course. I've been grappling with the no-pants news for the last fortnight, but it has been brewing for a while. I've been treating it like an electricity bill and ignoring it, but at this point, I'm going to accept it because celebs are going everywhere without pants! They're at dinners, on Instagram, swanning around fashion events, and heading to red-carpet events. I can't stress enough that they're doing all this without pants! Hailey Bieber was seen rocking a trench without pants, and Kristen Stewart has been doing the no-pants dance. Dakota Johnson was seen ditching pants just after her reported break-up with the man Gwyneth Paltrow consciously uncoupled from, Chris Martin. Oh yeah, and he is in Coldplay too. Even Charli XCX has been known to leave her pants at home, and we all know whatever she's doing is cool; this is the woman who managed to reference her birth control in a song, and it wasn't cringe. We should have seen it coming when Sabrina Carpenter, under the instruction of Pharrell Williams, wore no pants to the Met Gala. Pants much like a footballer's career after a knee injury are over. I don't have any problem with celebrities not wearing pants, like they're celebrities, if they're being weird, I'm more entertained, so go for it, but I know what happens when a trend goes mainstream. It goes from something you see looking edgy on red carpets to something you see looking wrong on someone at Kmart. While my friend may have reached acceptance. I think I'm still in the bargaining phase. 'Okay fine no pants are in, but can we just please not see anyone wearing them at the supermarket?' Everyone's got a line, mine is drawn at no pants in the frozen section.

Global superstar Cynthia Erivo on what to expect from Wicked: For Good and her new album

Oscar-nominated actress and singer Cynthia Erivo says recording her new album last year provided her with "a sanctuary" amid her rise to global super-stardom. Erivo, who was nominated this year for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as Elphaba in the smash-hit musical movie Wicked, has just released her sophomore solo album, I Forgive You. She told ABC News Breakfast that the writing process for the album took place during the production of Wicked. "I really got down to it as we were filming," she said. "Then I was really in the middle of making it when we were on the press tour. So, it took a lot." Erivo says recording the album proved to be a cathartic experience for her as Wicked propelled her to international fame. "It was a sanctuary for me," she said. "It was really lovely to almost re-centre every time I went into the studio, to find little pieces of myself in the music and express pieces of myself, and just even to get back to writing again was just lovely. "I keep using the word 'freeing', because it was such a lovely way to explore what I could do with my voice and what I could do with music and it's been such a lovely affirming process to be a part of." The highly anticipated trailer for the sequel to Wicked, titled Wicked: For Good, was released earlier this week. Erivo says she's excited for fans to see part two, which is due out later this year. "These two women are now grown up. They're now having to deal with some of the decisions that they've made in the first movie, and it's not easy for either of them. "You have to follow each of their stories and they have to find their way back to each other. "I feel like this part is quite special because they have to be independent in their ideas, they have to be independent in the decisions they make from now on, and you get to see them both, I think, in their power." Erivo told News Breakfast host Bridget Brennan that tea is one of the ways she cares for her voice. "We joke about it but tea is always really helpful. "A type of mug has always been with me. Lots of hydrating, trying to get as much rest as you possibly can, which is not always possible, but if you offset it with how much you hydrate it should be fine. "I warm up before every kind of vocal anything, because it sort of makes sure that my vocal cords aren't shocked when I start singing, but just trying to take it easy. "Sometimes it's time to be quiet, sometimes it's time to talk." Erivo hopes her new album will allow fans to see her more vulnerable side. "I don't think I'll ever stop being a work-in-progress. "I think I'm always going to be growing, I think I'm always going to be learning about things. "I think I'm always going to look back at certain things and be a little bit mad at myself, or then have to let go of things, and I think that being able to talk about it really frankly and openly was just, like, helpful, just to hear it out loud." Cynthia Erivo's new album, I Forgive You, was released on Friday.
