Zakharova calls on ICC to investigate British war crimes
Moscow - Saba:
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova expressed her belief that the time has come for the International Criminal Court to closely examine crimes committed by British military personnel.
"This should become a matter of close attention for the entire international community and the United Nations," Zakharova said on her Telegram channel, commenting on a BBC investigation.
Zakharova drew attention to the materials published in the investigation, as part of which journalists were able to obtain eyewitness accounts.
According to her, British military personnel are reported to have committed war crimes on a massive scale in Afghanistan and Iraq. Numerous cases of extrajudicial executions of non-combatants have been officially documented, and British military personnel have committed crimes against Iraqi and Afghan children.
In addition, it was noted that the London authorities sought to conceal the evidence of war crimes committed by British forces in order to avoid responsibility.
Zakharova said, "What the BBC reported should be investigated by the international community, including the United Nations. At the very least, the UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions and the UN Human Rights Council should pay attention to this issue. Finally, the notorious International Criminal Court may begin its investigation into British war crimes."
A BBC Panorama investigation, aired a few days ago, revealed that British Special Forces (SAS) committed war crimes against civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, including children. The program included testimonies about war crimes committed by the elite British Navy special forces, the Special Boat Service (SBS), which has been accused of committing extremely serious crimes such as executing unarmed and wounded people.

He further emphasized, "During yesterday's phone call, U.S. President Donald Trump said he had no information about the preparation of this terrorist act by the Kyiv regime. But if we speak broadly about the international assessment, we would naturally prefer to hear at least a strong condemnation of this terrorist act." Peskov confirmed that Russia's response to Ukraine's "terrorist strikes" on Russian airports would be determined by the military in whatever manner it deems appropriate.
