ET Intelligence Group: Infosys reported strong sequential revenue growth for the June 2025 quarter driven by lower base in the previous quarter, higher pricing, and improved utilisation. In comparison, its peers including Tata Consulting Services HCL Technologies , and Wipro failed to report a meaningful sequential top-line growth.Infosys also revised the FY26 constant currency (CC) revenue guidance to 1-3% growth from earlier 0-3% growth citing a higher traction in new deal wins during the June quarter. For Infosys, revenue grew by 4.5% sequentially to $4,941 million in the June quarter after falling by 4.2% in the previous quarter. Analysts on average had anticipated 2.8% growth. The June quarter sequential growth may not help much in predicting the trend in coming quarters since it is benefitted by the low base in the previous quarter. A year-on-year comparison shows that revenue rose by 4.8%, the second fastest growth in nine quarters after the 5.9% increase seen in the December 2024 quarter. Given a sustained momentum in the European market and strong order booking in the June quarter, the country's second largest software exporter is expected to show improved traction in the coming quarters. The company continued to show improving year-on-year business growth-12.3% in the June quarter, coming on the back of 13% growth in FY25 - in the European market, which contributes nearly one-third to its revenues. It reported flat trend in the US, its largest market, which forms over 56% of revenue. In addition, the total contract value (TCV) of large deal wins for the June quarter amounted to $3.8 billion, the highest since the previous year's June quarter when the TCV was $4.1 billion. The operating margin (EBIT margin) fell by 20 basis points sequentially to 20.8%. While phase-wise salary increase in the quarter and currency headwinds impacted the margin, better pricing and utilisation, and absence of acquisition related impairments compared with the prior quarter provided cushion.Despite revising the lower end of the revenue guidance upwards, the company has retained the target margin band at 20-22% for FY26 indicating that there may not be any significant margin levers in the short term.Like the majority of peers, Infosys also reported higher employee attrition, which rose to 14.4% in the June quarter from 14.1% a quarter ago and 12.7% a year ago. The company's headcount increased by 8,456 year-on-year to 323,788, the highest addition among peers. The company management has stated that it would continue to execute hiring for the current fiscal year as planned. Infosys has gained nearly 11% on bourses since announcing its March quarter numbers on April 17, beating the 10% gain in the BSE Infotech index and the returns earned by peers. The stock is expected to stay on investors' radar given the sustained traction in new deals.

US to review, reduce number of its troops in Europe

Washington, July 26 (UNI) The United States is reviewing the positions of its troops on a global scale, the presence of US forces in the European region will decrease, Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur said. On Friday, during a visit to Washington, Pevkur, with counterparts from Latvia and Lithuania, met with US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to discuss cooperation aimed at enhancing transatlantic ties, the ERR broadcaster reported. "As for the position of the US troops on a global scale, it is now under review... This process is being carried out in cooperation with the Supreme Commander of Forces in Europe and NATO headquarters. It is possible that more precise figures will be announced in the autumn," Pevkur told the ERR. The focus of the United States' attention is now shifting to the Indo-Pacific region, the military presence of its troops in Europe will decrease, however, Hegseth "could not answer exactly to what extent," Pevkur also said. In early July, the Euractiv portal reported that European NATO members started preparing for a possible reduction in the number of US troops on the continent. These countries are convinced that US President Donald Trump will reduce the number of forces there, now amounting to about 80,000 people, and redirect them to Asia and the Middle East, the news portal added. Since his return to office in January, US President Donald Trump has been pushing the idea of greater military spending by US partners, including the members of NATO. The June 24-25 NATO summit in The Hague raised the target threshold for defense spending by alliance members to 5% of GDP, which countries are expected to reach by 2035. In recent years, Russia has been flagging up NATO's unprecedented activity near its western borders. NATO is expanding its initiatives and calling it "containing Russian aggression." Moscow has repeatedly expressed concern about the buildup of alliance forces in Europe. The Kremlin noted that the Russia did not threaten anyone, but would not ignore actions potentially dangerous to its interests. UNI SPUTNIK AAB

IDFC First Bank Q1 results: PAT declines 32% YoY, NII rises by 5.5%

IDFC First Bank has reported a 32% YoY decline in its profit after tax (PAT) at Rs 463 crore in the first quarter of the financial year 2026, while the net interest income (NII) witnessed a growth of 5.1% YoY to Rs 4,933 crore in the same period. The bank's Net Interest Margin (NIM) on AUM dropped by 24 basis points quarter-on-quarter, falling from 5.95% in Q4 FY25 to 5.71% in Q1 FY26. This decline was mainly due to the impact of repo rate changes, a shift in the asset mix, including a sharp fall in the microfinance segment, and lower investment yields. Operating profit (excluding trading gains) declined by 6.2% YoY, from Rs 1,858 crore in Q1 FY25 to Rs 1,744 crore in Q1 FY26. However, on a sequential basis, it rose by 7.8%.
