Kuki MLAs to boycott Manipur's new govt post President's rule
The decision came at a joint meeting of key Kuki-Zo civil society organisations and community bodies held Friday at Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) secretariat.
Representatives from KIM and its units attended alongside district units and department heads.
Manipur has been under President's Rule since Feb amid continuing ethnic unrest between Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities, which erupted in May 2023.
The joint meeting has adopted a resolution asserting that the community would never compromise on its ancestral land, culture, identity, and its political, social, and economic rights.
While the statement stopped short of making any demand for statehood or administrative separation, the unified declaration is seen as a direct challenge to any attempt at political normalisation in Manipur without addressing Kuki-Zo grievances in Manipur.

Thousands attend funeral of businessman Khemka; dy CM, Cong neta meet kin
1 2 3 4 5 Patna: Thousands of people, including businessmen from all over the state, participated in the funeral procession of businessman Gopal Khemka from his residence in Gandhi Maidan area to Gulbi Ghat in Patna, where he was cremated on Sunday. His younger son Gaurav Khemka, a doctor at IGIMS, lit the funeral pyre. The family of Khemka, who was shot dead late on Friday night, was waiting for his daughter to come to Patna for the cremation. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also posted on social media regarding the murder of the businessman, stating, "BJP-Nitish have turned Bihar into a crime capital". Bihar Industries Association expressed condolences and concern over the murder of businessman Khemka. President K P S Keshri said that Khemka was a good human being and it is unlikely that he had any dispute or conflict with anyone. "The murder likely had an economic motive. Such an incident will directly impact the state's business and industrial environment," he said. Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries president Subhash Kumar Patwari remarked that a murder in a densely populated area like Gandhi Maidan is an open challenge to the police administration. "The chamber demands action against anti-social elements disrupting the state's environment and the arrest of those involved in the murder," he said.

CM: Implementation process of Tiprasa Accord underway
Agartala: A day after BJP's junior partner in Tripura govt TIPRA Motha threatened to withdraw support from the govt for not implementing the promises, chief minister Manik Saha on Sunday said the implementation process of the Tiprasa (tribal) Accord is underway. "I am in regular touch with Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman about the issues related to their demands. The Prime Minister is very much concerned about the development of tribals in the country and our leaders have a special feeling towards royal family," he said. His remarks came in response to TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma's statement, accusing both the state and central govts of inaction regarding the Accord's implementation and threat of withdrawing support from the BJP-led govt. Saha termed Ranjit's statement as an internal matter of their party. "I don't think I should comment on that. I haven't received anything officially in writing. I can say that the process of implementing the Tiprasa Accord is ongoing," the CM said while speaking on the 125th birth anniversary of Syama Prasad Mookerjee on Sunday. Addressing media, TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma on Saturday said they have extended support to the govt following some conditions but none of them were fulfilled. Despite the high court order, the state govt has not conducted village council election, two seats of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) were vacant for long time. Meanwhile, a TIPRA Motha delegation on Saturday began a foot march for Jantar Mantar in Delhi, demanding push back of illegal Bangladeshi nationals who came here after 1971.

Unlike TN, only against imposition of Hindi in primary schools: Raut
Mumbai: A day after Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin tweeted to back the rally by the Thackeray cousins in Mumbai and said BJP had been forced to retreat for the second time against Hindi imposition in schools, Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday welcomed his support. However, he said his party was not opposed to Hindi, only to its imposition in primary schools. "The southern states have been fighting against Hindi for a long time. They don't speak Hindi. Our stand is different. We have not stopped people from speaking in Hindi, or Hindi films and newspapers. We are only against the imposition of Hindi in primary schools," Raut told reporters. Responding to CM Devendra Fadnavis's jibe referring to Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray as rudaali (weeper) who kept complaining about how deputy CM Eknath Shinde brought down the MVA govt, Raut said, "Fadnavis was scared by the success of the rally. In fact, Fadnavis and Shinde should participate in a rudaali competition and we should organise it."
