Trump Administration Calls on UN to Dismiss UN Rapporteur Francesca Albanese over Palestine Report
The administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump has officially requested the United Nations to dismiss Francesca Albanese from her role as UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, accusing her of 'antisemitism and supporting terrorism.'
The demand came after Albanese published a report accusing over 60 companies—including major arms manufacturers and tech giants like Microsoft and Amazon—of supporting Israeli settlements and the genocide in Gaza.
Albanese's report is scheduled to be presented on Thursday in Geneva.
The U.S. Mission to the United Nations issued a statement condemning the report, accusing Albanese of launching an 'economic war' against American and international companies by exposing their involvement in the Israeli occupation's crimes in Palestine.
The statement accused her of sending 'threatening letters to dozens of global entities, including major U.S. companies,' alleging their complicity in 'gross human rights violations, apartheid, and genocide.' It added that such actions constitute 'an unacceptable political and economic campaign against the U.S. and global economy,' and described her reports on Israel as 'false and offensive.'
The statement further warned that 'continued failure to act will not only undermine the credibility of the United Nations but will also necessitate significant steps in response to Ms. Albanese's misconduct.'
Despite U.S. objections, the United Nations reappointed Albanese to her position earlier this year. She is widely known for her strong criticisms of Israel.

International Organizations issue urgent humanitarian appeal to stop ongoing Zionist aggression on Gaza
Cairo – SABA: The Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the African Union launched an urgent humanitarian appeal on Wednesday to halt the ongoing Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip, during a joint consultative meeting held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. According to Quds Press Agency, the three organizations affirmed that the actions committed by the enemy forces in Gaza constitute full-fledged genocide, demanding immediate international intervention to stop it. They stressed that the use of starvation and siege as tools of war against civilians constitutes a crime under international law. The organizations warned of Gaza being rendered uninhabitable amid collapsing humanitarian conditions and called for ensuring safe, sufficient, and sustained access for humanitarian aid. They strongly rejected the current aid distribution mechanism, which has turned into "killing fields for civilians and relief workers." The organizations also firmly opposed any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land, emphasizing that such actions constitute grave crimes under international law. They demanded the urgent formation of an independent and impartial international investigation committee to examine war crimes, serious violations, and acts of genocide committed in Gaza, and to determine individual and collective legal responsibilities. Additionally, they called for enabling UNRWA to carry out its duties in the Strip without obstruction, rejecting any attempts to undermine its role or transfer its mandates to other entities. They underscored the necessity of providing political, financial, and legal support to the agency. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print
