The Athletics are once again in the cellar of the American League West, and in the first season of starting pitcher Luis Severino's three-year contract, the Athletics are already on the verge of trading him away at the deadline, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

Severino is winless at home with a 6.79 ERA, playing in the minor league ballpark the Athletics are calling home as they await their new stadium in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, he has been outstanding on the road in seven starts, posting a 2.27 ERA.
"The Athletics are now open to trading him after he continues to bash the environment in Sacramento, agitating the organization," Nightengale wrote. "It may come as a surprise if he's still with the organization come August."
If the Athletics choose to move on from Severino, teams searching for starting pitching should be calling on him as the trade deadline approaches. Teams will likely look at Severino's road starts as his value-building numbers and what he will bring to their team.
Meanwhile, his atrocious home performances will likely be brushed over while teams look for depth in the rotation heading for the stretch run.
With a light starting pitcher class for this season's trade deadline, Severino might be one of the league's hottest commodities as July kicks off.

Shohei Ohtani to Make 4th Start of the Season While Celebrating His 31st Birthday
Shohei Ohtani will make his fourth start of the 2025 MLB season on Saturday, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday. When Ohtani takes the mound next, it will come on his 31st birthday. Ohtani will again serve as an opener and Justin Wrobleski is expected to follow as a bulk pitcher against Houston. The Japanese two-way star threw 27 pitches over a season-high two scoreless innings last weekend at Kansas City, giving up a hit with one strikeout and one walk.
