National Western Center to begin expansion on equestrian center, hotel
DENVER (KDVR) — The National Western Center has planned on building an equestrian center, hotel and more on its campus in Denver, and now, construction is set to start soon. On Monday, Denver announced that the city council approved the launch of the project, committing more than $800 million over the next 35 years, according to the Denver Business Journal. This marks the final step to completing the initial phases of the 2015 voter-approved master plan to expand the campus. Here's what it is planning to look like: 'There is no more cherished tradition in Denver than the Stock Show,' said Mayor Mike Johnston in a press release. 'Today, we are further committing to carrying that feeling throughout the rest of the year with events, entertainment, and a renewed dedication to putting people to work and improving the lives of neighbors through sustained – and lasting – trust and partnership.' New CSU campus at National Western Complex stacked with variety The mayor's office said that based on a recent economic impact study, the center and CSU Spur campus could bring in nearly $3 billion in gross domestic product for Colorado along with $2.1 billion in personal income and support more than 11,000 jobs over a five-year period. Extraco Events Center welcomes new president and CEO
Waco, TX (FOX 44) – The Extraco Events Center is welcoming its new president and CEO! Wes Allison previously served as president and CEO for approximately 22 years. He now passes the torch to Dustin Coufal. Growing up in Troy, Coufal said it's a dream come true for a small-town boy like him to become the president and CEO of a huge corporation. 'My history is a little more unique,' Coufal said. 'I was a cast scramble participant, also had the opportunity to serve in a capacity where I was able to evaluate the halls at the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo, and served as a sheep superintendent.' Coufal has been a key figure at the Extraco Events Center. His promotion to general manager was part of a strategic reorganization in 2021 aimed at positioning the company for future growth. He says their goal is to continue on the foundation they have built. 'This is a really good ship that's doing a lot of great things with economic impact, over 70 million, over 350,000 in scholarships,' Coufal said. 'I'll be honest with you, we're going to continue on that and we're going to increase those numbers, and just make a bigger impact in Central Texas.' Allison is moving on to work for the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado. Upon passing the torch to his successor, he said Coufal will bring great success to the Extraco Events Center and be a true leader. 'The board did a great job of vetting him and making sure he was ready for the program,' Allison said. 'Really intensely for probably the last three to five years, we have been working together very closely to ensure that he was ready when this opportunity came on. I'm so excited for Dustin.' Coufal is excited and grateful for this new honor and the start of a new era at the Events Center. 'It's truly an honor and a blessing to be able to step into the fall of Wes's legacy and lead such a great organization,' Coufal said. 'It means so much to the folks of Central Texas.' Colorado rancher elected policy division vice chair of National Cattlemen's Beef Association
DENVER (KDVR) — A Colorado cattle rancher received some exciting news at the 2025 Cattle Industry Convention in San Antonio. Kenny Rogers was elected to be the new policy division vice chair of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, the association announced in a press release on Thursday. Developed in 1898, the National Cattlemen's Beef Association has helped cattle producers through advocacy, research and promotion. It is the oldest and largest national organization that represents cattle farmers and ranchers. 'It is an honor to be elected NCBA's policy division vice chair,' said Rogers. 'My family has been in the cattle industry for more than 70 years and I am thrilled to join the leadership of this association to advocate for ranching families and protect this way of life.' In a non-agricultural role, he is an elder at his church. In his position at the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, Rogers will be part of the officer team and help lead the association's advocacy activities for the next year, according to the association.
