Public parking in Sharjah will be free of charge on Friday, June 27, 2025, in celebration of the Hijri New Year, according to a statement issued by the Sharjah Municipality on June 26.
The exemption applies to most public parking areas; however, it does not cover zones where fees are collected seven days a week, including public holidays. These areas are marked with blue parking information signs.

In Dubai, all public parking zones, except multi-level parking terminals, will be free of charge on Friday, June 27, in observance of the Hijri New Year holiday. Regular parking fees will resume on Saturday, June 28, the Roads and Transport Authority announced on Wednesday.
Dubai Metro will operate on Friday, June 27, from 5am to 1am the following day (June 28); while Dubai Tram will run from 6am on June 27 until 1am (June 28).

Meanwhile, in Al Ain, a traffic diversion will be implemented on Zayed The First Street from Saturday, June 28, 2025 (12am) to Saturday, July 19, 2025 (5am). The diversion is part of ongoing road enhancement efforts aimed at improving traffic flow and infrastructure in the city. Residents and commuters are advised to stay informed about traffic changes by monitoring official announcements from local transport authorities. Drivers are also reminded to adhere to posted detour signs and follow traffic safety measures to ensure a smooth and safe travel experience during these roadworks.

UAE: 25-minute delay after accident on Emirates Road from Sharjah towards Dubai

A 25-minute tailback on Emirates Road from Sharjah towards Dubai has been reported after an accident on the highway on Thursday evening. Taking to X, Sharjah Police informed residents of the incident that took place at Al Badi Bridge on the major road. Motorists have been asked to use alternative routes. After about 35 minutes since the accident occurred, a 7.8km stretch on the road, which normally takes just five minutes to cross, will now take motorists a whole half hour.
