Liverpool sent Harvey Elliott message as the club set price for midfielder
Micah Richards says there is 'not a chance' he would sell Harvey Elliott if he was in Liverpool's position following the midfielder's heroics for England at this summer's European Under-21 Championship.
Elliott was named Player of the Tournament as England successfully defended their title from 2023, with the 22-year-old Liverpool man scoring five goals across the Young Lions' triumphant campaign.
It was Elliott's early strike that opened the scoring in Saturday's dramatic final as Lee Carsley's men recovered from an almighty second-half scare to come away 3-2 victors over Germany in Bratislava.
But while Elliott's recent form at international level cannot be questioned, the youngster has had to be patient for regular first-team opportunities with Arne Slot's Liverpool.
Across the entirety of the Reds' title-winning campaign, Elliott was limited to a total of just two starts in the Premier League – and there have been some calls for the ex-Fulham man to leave and secure game-time elsewhere.

According to talkSPORT, the English champions would be prepared to let Elliott depart should they receive an offer in the region of £40million for his services this summer.
It's understood RB Leipzig and Newcastle United are keeping close tabs on Elliott's situation, with the two clubs scouring the market for midfield reinforcements in preparation for next season.

'If I'm Liverpool, I'm not selling him. Not one bit! I'm not selling him!' former Manchester City and England defender Richards said of Elliott on The Rest Is Football.
'It's similar to the Cole Palmer situation when he was at Manchester City. Okay, you've got Phil Foden, you've got Kevin De Bruyne at the time and other young players coming through…
'But I just think, if he [Elliott] could get a good Premier League team on loan for the season [then he should stay at Liverpool].
Richards believes Elliott would be the perfect long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah when the Egyptian brings an end to his stay at Anfield.
'Salah signed a two-year deal and a year from now he might not be the same player that we've been used to over the years,' Richards added.
'Elliott can play that position so well and I would just wait.
'I wouldn't get rid of him now, not a chance.'

Host Gary Lineker, meanwhile, suggested there would be no shortage of potential suitors should Liverpool put Elliott up for sale this summer.
'It's an interesting decision for him because they've obviously brought other players in, Florian Wirtz has come in who is another forward/midfield player,' the ex-England striker said.
'What a tournament he had. If it's not going to happen for him at Liverpool, I think there would be a host of clubs that would be keen to sign him.'
Speaking to Channel 4 after England's defeat of Germany, Elliott said he needed to 'show it at club level' to give himself a shot of a call-up to Thomas Tuchel's senior squad.
'It's never going to be easy because of the talent that is in the team… world-class players from top to bottom,' he said.
'It's about me working hard, trying to show it at club level and hopefully getting the opportunity.
'We're thankful for him [Tuchel] coming out here and hopefully we put on a show and who knows? It's one of those, you just need to wait and see.'
Should Elliott leave Liverpool this summer? Yes

'We've been rash' - fans on Quansah sale
We asked for your thoughts on the decision to sell Jarell Quansah to Bayer is a selection of comments:Eug: Good business for Liverpool. He has a lot of potential but he's not there yet. Maybe he won't realise his full potential, you never know. The money the club got for him is more than I This is a mistake. He was outstanding for England Under 21s recently, especially in the final. He's a big-time Would have personally kept Jarell. In my opinion, he is as good as any centre-half. Alright he makes a few mistakes, but who doesn't? He also makes a lot of tackles. I personally think he is equal to or better than Ibrahima Konate, who let it be known has made many errors himself over a few I'm not sure if we would be upgrading on Quansah if we signed Marc Guehi. Yes stats can be misleading. Palace had far more defensive pressure to cope with than Liverpool FC. But this is a big step up from Palace and the expectation of win at all costs, every week, is always the litmus test for any new signing. Konate doesn't appear to want to extend his contract with Real Madrid looking to steal another Red for free. The club are rolling the dice here and with a year to go on Konate's contract the club are right to gamble now rather than 12 months down the The moment Slot took him off at half-time in the first Premier League game away at Ipswich, the writing was on the wall for Jarell and as the season went on the likes of Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez got the same treatment. They weren't trusted by the new coach and got limited minutes. I personally think it's a mistake letting him go if he can just cut out the silly mistakes he occasionally makes. He could have been the natural successor to Virgil van Jarell has potential, but is far from the need right now. £35m is good business and I'm sure we've negotiated a decent buy-back I think we've been rash to get rid of Quansah and I'm not sure Guehi will be an improvement. Quansah was still improving and his front-footed style suits Liverpool far better.

'He had everything' - Joe Cole questions Chelsea letting England U21 star leave
Joe Cole has questioned Chelsea's decision to allow Tino Livramento to leave – and claims the full-back would get into Enzo Maresca's current starting XI. A breakdown in contract talks saw Livramento depart Chelsea's academy for Southampton in 2021, with the Saints seeing off strong competition from Brighton, AC Milan and RB Leipzig to sign the defender. Livramento quickly established himself as a first-team regular at St Mary's and his outstanding performances caught the attention of Newcastle, who captured the 22-year-old for a fee of £32million – plus £8m in add-ons – two years ago. In that time, Livramento has gone from strength under the tutelage of Eddie Howe and the youngster played a key role last season as the Magpies finally ended their 70-year wait for a major trophy by lifting the Carabao Cup. To cap off a memorable few months, Livramento added another piece of silverware to his collection on Saturday as the England Under-21 side successfully defended their European Championship title with a 3-2 victory over Germany in Bratislava. The right-back – who has been capped once at senior level – was subsequently named in UEFA's Team of the Tournament, along with five of his fellow countrymen in James Beadle, Charlie Cresswell, Elliot Anderson, James McAtee and Harvey Elliott. 'I watched him throughout the tournament and I coached him a few times at Chelsea. He was coming through when I was there,' ex-Chelsea and England winger Cole said of Livramento on The Dressing Room Podcast. 'He's a lovely lad, great ability. I remember doing a session with him on crossing and I was just trying to break down the three different crosses you would do. 'He had everything: big, powerful, great skill, great attitude. 'I was like, 'Once you get to the byline you've only got three options: you've got the dink to far post, you whip it across or you cut it back', and he did it on both sides, left and right.' Cole is unsure whether the new recruits Chelsea have brought in recent years have been an upgrade on 'top players' like Livramento and Lewis Hall, who left Stamford Bridge for Newcastle last year. He added: 'When we talk about the new model at Chelsea and we praise them… you've still lost Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall, another top player. 'I don't know how much money but they've gone out. Are the ones coming in [better]? 'Tino Livramento would get in Chelsea's team now I think.' According to Cole, Livramento would have had a strong case for the Player of the Tournament award had it not been for Elliott's heroics across England's triumphant campaign. 'He [Livramento] was absolutely brilliant,' he continued. 'If it wasn't for Harvey Elliott getting Player of the Tournament, he could have been in the running for it.' Cole's namesake, Ashley Cole, who was on Lee Carsley's coaching staff at the U21 European Championship, has been similarly impressed and tipped Livramento for a 'beautiful future' last month. 'He was in the U21s, in the reserve group at Chelsea. You always see the passion and level he could get to,' the legendary ex-Chelsea, Arsenal and England left-back said. 'I think him getting the opportunity at Newcastle and continuing to play first-team football gave him the belief, the confidence in his own ability. 'And of course, a manager that's trusted him to play at such a young age. I think he had quite a big challenge going to Newcastle, but he's developing into a top player. 'I think he's got a beautiful future, a bright future. Long may it continue that he keeps playing for Newcastle, keeps gaining experience and keeps his levels up.'
