High tide of 4.6m to hit Mumbai shoreline today as IMD predicts gusty winds
According to the civic authorities, the height of the tide may swell up to 4.60 metres at 1.56 pm on Sunday. This will be the fifth consecutive day when the city will witness high tides rising above a height of 4 metres.
On July 26, Mumbai witnessed a high tide of 4.67 metres at 1.20 pm, while on July 25, a high tide of 4.66 metres was recorded at 12.44 pm.
For July 28 (Monday), the authorities have predicted a similar high tide of 4.04 metres during the afternoon.
The BMC, in the wake of a high tide warning for four days in Mumbai, on July 24, urged citizens not to visit the shorelines as a precautionary measure.
Furthermore, the civic officials have predicted that a low tide of 1.19 meters will be seen around 8 pm on Sunday.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), gusty winds ranging between 30 and 40 kmph will blow over Mumbai, and a cloudy sky will persist throughout the day, accompanied by moderate rainfall.
Meanwhile, data from the BMC's automatic weather stations (AWS) show that Mumbai's eastern suburbs have recorded 17.16 mm of rainfall till 8 am on July 27, followed by 13.71 mm in the western suburbs and 10.18 mm at the island city.

Thundershowers likely in parts of Maha this week
Pune: The Met department on Monday issued a forecast for thundershowers across parts of Maharashtra around Aug 7, but officials clarified that these would be convectional in nature, and not typical monsoon showers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted isolated heavy rainfall over different regions of Maharashtra and adjoining areas in a phased manner. Marathwada is likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall on Aug 6 and 7, while Konkan and Goa are expected to receive similar precipitation on Aug 7 and 8. Madhya Maharashtra may witness isolated heavy rainfall on Aug 8. Pune city may also get passing showers around this period. IMD scientist S D Sanap said, "There has been significant heating over the past few days as the monsoon has remained subdued, leading to increased solar heating. Delhis maximum temperature settles at 33 degrees Celsius on Monday
New Delhi, Aug 4 (PTI) Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 33.4 degrees Celsius on Monday, with the weather office predicting rain along with thunderstorms. The minimum temperature settled at 27.2 degrees Celsius, 0.3 notch below the seasonal average. At 5.30 pm, humidity levels were recorded at 68 per cent. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted generally cloudy sky with moderate rain on Tuesday with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to hover around 32 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively. The air quality was in the moderate zone with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 116 at 4 pm. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good", 51 and 100 'satisfactory", 101 and 200 'moderate", 201 and 300 'poor", 301 and 400 'very poor", and 401 and 500 'severe".
