Barrington area business community leaders welcome Luna Bee Farms during ribbon cutting
Luna Bee Farm is a six-acre destination in Barrington where blooming lavender fields, pollinator-friendly gardens, and beehives create a serene space rooted in sustainability and connection, according to a news release.
Founded by Alina and Gardiner Sutton, the farm grew from Alina's lifelong love of gardening, which was first inspired by her great-grandfather's garden in Romania and later nurtured in her own backyard in Chicago, the release said. In 2021, the Suttons moved their family to Barrington to bring this vision to life.
'Luna Bee was built with heart, hard work, and a vision for bringing people together through nature,' Alaina Sutton said. 'We are so grateful for the support of this community and excited to welcome others to experience the peace and beauty that blooms here.'
In addition to a beautiful selection of plants, flowers, herbs, and upcycled furniture, Luna Bee hosts a variety of community events and wellness experiences, according to the release. Regular offerings include yoga in the lavender fields, kid-friendly workshops, and creative collaborations with local artisans and businesses.
According to the release, signature experiences like Petals to Pour invite guests to craft floral-forward mocktails using fresh garden herbs and botanicals, a refreshing way to connect with nature and creativity at the farm.
Luna Bee Farm is open for events and by appointment, with ongoing updates shared on its website, lunabeefarm.com, and Instagram, @lunabeefarm. For more information, call (224) 454-3318.

Goldburger's Chinatown Location Suddenly Closes After Less Than a Year

Why former Georgia RB is in contract dispute with the Buffalo Bills
Former Georgia Bulldog running back James Cook is looking for an extension with the Buffalo Bills. Unfortunately, the extension talks have sputtered to the point where there's been speculation that Cook might be "holding in" as a non-participant in practices, according to Rory Parks of TradeRumors. Cook is entering the final year of his rookie contract with the Buffalo Bills and wants a new deal. There have been many instances of players holding out or holding in until they earn a new contract, but when he reported to the first training camp practice on July 24, it gave indication that Cook would practice. That changed on Aug. 3. Cook was a non-participant on Sunday's practice, and when asked about why by ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg, he said "business". He kept repeating it on follow-up questions too. General manager Brandon Beane didn't see Cook's hold-in coming. "Yeah, you know, it's not something we were fully aware of until shortly before practice," Beane said, via The Buffalo News. "So, I get it, I understand it; it's the world we're in, I guess, of how players want to respond and things like that. "So, you know, at the end of the day, I wish we weren't here," Bean said. "This is my ninth season here, we've never had a player miss due to a contract or anything like that, so that's disappointing for me." Cook's has an asking price of at least $15M per year, he publicly announced via his Instagram. That would tie him with Derrick Henry for the third-highest average annual value among all NFL running backs. The Bills have already reached long-term deals with quarterback Josh Allen, wide receiver Khalil Shakir, cornerback Christian Benford, edge rusher Gregory Rousseau, and linebacker Terrel Bernard, so they could be looking to save a little on Cook's extension. Cook wants to be paid what he believes he's worth. He's arguably the second-most important player in the Bills' offense behind quarterback Josh Allen. In the regular season, Cook recorded 1,009 rushing yards, 16 rushing touchdowns and caught 32 passes. In the playoffs, Cook posted over 300 total yards and three touchdowns as he helped the Bills advance to the AFC championship game. He has blossomed at the NFL level, but not every NFL team values the running back position. Before he became a two-time Pro Bowl running back with the Bills, Cook played for four seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs, racking up 1,503 yards and 14 touchdowns on 230 carries. He even caught 67 passes for 730 yards and 6 touchdowns. His elusive, versatile running style fit in perfectly with the bruising, hard-hitting running style of Zamir White, and it was on full display when both of them rushed for a combined 165 yards on 19 carries against Alabama to win the 2021 national championship. Here are the key differences between "Made in Canada" and "Product of Canada" and how to buy each as Trump's newest tariffs take effect. U.S. President Donald Trump has slapped a 35 per cent tariff on Canada, escalating the president's attack on one of America's largest and most loyal trading partners. The tariff, which came into effect on Friday, targets Canadian goods that fall outside of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico (CUSMA) trade agreement. The White House cited Canada's failure to "cooperate in curbing the ongoing flood of fentanyl and other illicit drugs" as the rationale behind the tariff hike. Fentanyl seizures at the Canada-U.S. border represent less than 0.1 per cent of the total U.S. seizures of the drug. On top of Trump's new 35 per cent duties, the president also introduced 50 per cent tariffs on semi-finished copper products and sustained existing duties on Canadian steel, aluminum and automobiles. The tariff hike follows news of the "de minimis exemption" suspension earlier last week. Until recently, the de minimis tariff exemption allowed shipments of $800 USD or less to be eligible for duty-free treatment. Under an executive order signed by Trump, starting Aug. 29, all shipments, including those valued at $800 USD or less, will face "all applicable duties" — a move that could hurt many small business owners in Canada. What is the de minimis exemption? The de minimis exemption was a trade loophole that allowed low-value exports (goods worth $800 USD or less) to enter the U.S. duty-free. Last week, Trump suspended the de minimis exemption, which will majorly impact small businesses and independent sellers, including those from Etsy, Instagram and TikTok, alongside mega global shippers like Temu and Shein. The order goes into effect Aug. 29. Since Trump took office in January, many Canadians have felt a new wave of patriotism, consciously choosing to buy made-in-Canada products in lieu of American alternatives. With the trade war in effect, the push to buy Canadian will likely continue to grow. For those devoted to buying Canadian at the grocery store, a host of new phone apps help identify domestic products. However, finding Canadian alternatives to American cleaning and personal care products, fashion, and homeware can be more challenging — challenging but not impossible. "Made in Canada" vs. "Product of Canada" vs. "Canadian owned" vs. "Based in Canada" — what's the difference? Unlike at the grocery store, where "made in Canada" labelling is made clear, the origins of fashion, beauty, personal care and home brands can be difficult to decipher. Is "made in Canada" the same as "based in Canada?" What about a Canadian brand no longer 100 per cent Canadian-owned, like Hudson's Bay and Tim Hortons? To satisfy a "Product of Canada" claim, Canada's Competition Bureau requires non-food products to meet a "higher threshold of Canadian content" (98 per cent). "Made in Canada" claims are subject to a 51 per cent threshold of Canadian content, but should be accompanied by a qualifying statement indicating that the product contains imported content." When a brand is based in Canada or owned/designed by Canadians, that doesn't automatically mean it's made in Canada. Shoppers still choose to support a Canadian-owned or founded business, but its manufacturing may occur overseas. That said, buying from online and brick-and-mortar Canadian retailers can help support Canadian workers, too. Roots, for example, is no longer completely Canadian-owned, but its leather goods are still hand-crafted in Toronto, Ont.
