Saskatoon Transit says the driver charged in a pedestrian hit-and-run is no longer employed
A former Saskatoon Transit driver was charged for failing to stop at the scene of a crash that left a 49-year-old seriously injured back in May.
In a Tuesday news release, the Saskatoon police said the 42-year-old driver was charged in connection with a May 18 collision with a pedestrian in the 1900 block of 8th Street East. The victim, a 49-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries, police said.
Investigators with the traffic unit later determined the pedestrian was hit by a Saskatoon Transit bus.
Saskatoon Transit told CTV News in an email that it fully cooperated with the police investigation.
'The employee was put on administrative leave shortly after the incident occurred while an internal investigation was carried out and no longer works for Saskatoon Transit.'
