CM Appeals to Show Respect to All Rivers Like a 'Mother'
River Festival Organized at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar
On the occasion of completing four successful years as the Chief Servant of the state, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami performed a traditional worship of Mother Ganga at Brahmakund, Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar, praying for the prosperity, peace, and progress of the state. He also prayed to Mother Ganga to fulfill the wishes of all devotees visiting Haridwar.
While addressing the River Festival program, the Chief Minister said that rivers are not just water sources but have been the foundation of social, economic, and religious life since ancient times. He emphasized that in order to tackle global challenges like global warming, the conservation and rejuvenation of rivers are extremely important.
The Chief Minister appealed to all citizens to honor rivers like a 'mother' and to contribute to keeping them clean and pure. On this occasion, the Chief Minister, along with the gathered devotees, took a pledge to never pollute rivers and to always keep them clean.
The Chief Minister was grandly welcomed by Nitin Gautam, President of Shri Ganga Sabha, Sabhapati Krishan Kumar Sharma, Reception Minister Siddharth Chakrapani, and other officials. The ritualistic worship of Mother Ganga was conducted by Acharya Amit Shastri.
On this occasion, former Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', Rajya Sabha MP Kalpana Saini, MLAs Madan Kaushik and Adesh Chauhan, Vice-Chairman of the State Disaster Management Authority Vinay Ruhela, District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Singh Dobal, along with a large number of public representatives, devotees, and distinguished citizens were present.

The Chief Minister saluted the indomitable spirit of the Indian Armed Forces, stating: 'Kargil Vijay Diwas is not just the celebration of a military victory; it is the immortal saga of sacrifice, duty, and national pride that can never be forgotten.' Dhami, accompanied by Soldier Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi, also announced the construction of two key facilities to support the welfare of servicemen: an ECHS (Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme) centre and rest house in Kaleshwar (Chamoli district), and a Sainik Rest House in Nainital. In another message on social media, the Chief Minister highlighted India's growing military strength under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Referring to key moments in recent military history—including the surgical strikes post-Uri, air strikes after Pulwama, and the recent Operation Sindoor—Dhami said India has made it clear that any threat to its people will be met with decisive action. 'A clear message has been given: Whoever dares to harm the dignity of our sisters and daughters will face complete destruction,' he wrote. The event also saw the felicitation of ex-servicemen and families of martyrs, where CM Dhami personally honoured them with shawls and mementoes. The programme, organised by the Soldier Welfare Department, was attended by several dignitaries, including MP Naresh Bansal and local MLAs. Uttarakhand, often called the 'land of the brave', lost 75 sons in the Kargil War, which lasted over 60 days and ended on July 26, 1999, with a resounding victory for India. 527 Indian soldiers laid down their lives in the battle, making it one of the most poignant chapters in the nation's military history.

Angamaly-Sabarimala line work can proceed once Kerala starts land acquisition: Railway minister
New Delhi, Jul 26 (PTI) The construction on Angamali-Sabarimala new line can proceed once Kerala begins acquiring land, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has told the Rajya Sabha. In a written reply to Parliament on Friday, he said that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was requested in a recent meeting to acquire land with the state's 50 per cent share of the cost of the project. The reply came in response to a query by Congress MP from Kerala, Jebi Mather Hisham. Vaishnaw said the Angamaly-Sabarimala via Erumeli line project was sanctioned in 1997-98, and the work on the 7-km Angamaly-Kalady and long lead work on the 10-km Kalady-Perumbavoor is on. 'However, further works on this project could not be taken forward due to protests by local people against land acquisition and fixing of alignment of the line, court cases filed against the project and inadequate support from the State Government of Kerala,' he said. Vaishnaw said the estimated cost of the project was updated to Rs 3,801 crore and submitted to the state government in December 2023 for acceptance and to share the cost of the project. In August 2024, the Kerala government communicated its conditional consent, but the Railways sought an 'unconditional consent' for cost sharing. Vaishnaw said the Kerala government was asked to enter into an agreement with the railway and the RBI for the project. How many new trains has Centre introduced to improve regional connectivity in last one year?
Indian Railways new trains: Indian Railways (IR) is considered as the backbone of the national economy. In recent years, it has undertaken several initiatives to enhance connectivity, including the introduction of new trains, track doubling and expansion, and the construction of Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs). Apart from these, the national transporter is also actively redeveloping stations across the country under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). Since the railway network spans across state boundaries, train services are introduced based on operational requirements across various regions. This raise an interesting question: how many new trains have been introduced in the past year? The question surfaced after Rajya Sabha MP Medha Vishram Kulkarni asked Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for details on the number of new trains launched over the last year. She also sought information on how many trains pass through Maharashtra, particularly Pune city. In response, Vaishnaw on Friday (July 25, 2025) informed that Indian Railways introduced a total of 182 new train services during the period 2024–25 and 2025–26 (up to June 2025). With the launch of these new trains, the regional connectivity has improved further. 'To cater to the needs of passengers, IR, during 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 (upto June,2025 ) have introduced 182 train services of which the following 20 train services, on originating/Terminating basis, are catering to the needs of stations located in the State of Maharashtra…,' the minister added. The minister also stated that a new train will be introduced between Pune and Rewa. He also stated that CSMT-Jalna Vande Bharat train will be extended. '…it has also been decided to introduce a new train between Pune and Rewa [with commercial stoppages inter alia at Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Akola, Bhusaval, Manmad, Kopargaon, Ahmednagar, Daund] and to extend 20705/20706 Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj (T) – Jalna Vande Bharat Express (six days a week) upto Hazur Sahib Nanded,' he said. The Railway Minister also noted that Pune, Nasik and Aurangabad are presently being served by 291, 155 and 62 train services, respectively. 'Moreover, introduction of new train services is an ongoing process on Indian Railways subject to traffic justification, operational feasibility, resource availability, etc,' Vaishnaw added.
