Billy Ray Cyrus Revealed the Surprising Way He & Elizabeth Hurley Reconnected Amid Recent Romance
During this past Easter weekend, Billy Ray Cyrus and Elizabeth Hurley almost broke the internet with a picture of them looking cozy on Instagram. The pic, which featured Cyrus giving a kiss on her cheek, hard launched their relationship with quite a bang.
But as fans continue to wrap their hands around the couple, Cyrus got candid recently about how they reconnected after starring in the 2022 movie Christmas in Paradise together.

Elizabeth Hurley's Son Damian Drops Clues About Billy Ray Cyrus Romance
'We did very few scenes together, but the couple times we were in the same scene, there was a chemistry there,' Cyrus said of their on-set chemistry on The Ty Bentli Show, per People. 'We just laughed, and it was at a time I wasn't laughing a lot.'
'The oddest part was, first, how much we laughed,' Cyrus gushed. 'Second, I figured we were so different, but in some very strange way, we had way more in common than we had different.'
But, despite their connection, Cyrus and Hurley never pursued anything romantic at the time. In fact, Cyrus said they 'didn't speak for two years' until she reached out to him during a dark period in his life. Whether the dark period was because of the drama with his daughters, Noah Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, and his ex Tish Cyrus, or his divorce from Firerose in August 2024, he didn't specify.
'For me, at a certain point it was like, you can't get knocked down any flatter than lying on your back when life is kicking you,' Cyrus said of his mindset. 'And in this moment… a friend reached out.'
When Hurley gave him some support, however, Cyrus didn't even have her number. 'So, I text back, I go, 'Who is this?' And it's like, 'Elizabeth Hurley.' Of all the people to reach out to me in that second that maybe I needed most… this friend who made me laugh,' Cyrus said.
As they reconnected, it seems Hurley helped Cyrus leave his dark period, and changed his entire outlook.
'If all we ever were [is] the friends that we are, I would take that,' he said. 'She's so impressively brilliant. She reminds me a lot of Dolly Parton. She's a very smart businesswoman.'
He's happy things turned romantic, though. 'If you can laugh together, you can make it through everything,' he said. 'It's just been beautiful.'
Their internet-breaking hard launch aside, Cyrus and Hurley are taking their relationship one step at a time. 'Again, no expectations of where we go from here other than her and her son — I do love him a lot, and it's great that God brought them into my life when he did,' he said. 'It's just a good thing. It's been a long time since I've been this happy.'
While we certainly weren't expecting this couple, we're so glad they found each other.Best of SheKnows
