Miley Cyrus speaks out about dad Billy Ray's romance with Elizabeth Hurley
Miley Cyrus is sharing her thoughts on her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus' new relationship and reflecting on how their own bond has evolved. In a new interview with The New York Times published Saturday, the Grammy winner spoke candidly about Billy Ray's romance with actress Elizabeth Hurley, as well as her mom Tish Cyrus' marriage to actor Dominic Purcell. "Now that my mom is so in love with my stepdad, who I completely adore, and now that my dad, I see him finding happiness, too -- I can love them both as individuals instead of as a parental pairing," Miley told the outlet. "I'm being an adult about it." She continued, "At first it's hard, because the little kid in you reacts before the adult in you can go, 'Yes, that's your dad, but that's just another person that deserves to be in his bliss and to be happy.' My child self has caught up." Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus, who tied the knot in 1993, divorced in 2022 after nearly 30 years of marriage. They share three children -- Miley, Braison, and Noah -- and Billy Ray also adopted Tish's two older children, Brandi and Trace. Her comments followed a rare family photo that Billy Ray shared earlier this month, showing the family reunited to celebrate Braison's 31st birthday -- a moment that came after months of rumors about a rift between the father and daughter. Miley also directly addressed those rumors in a statement shared to her Instagram stories on May 10. "My dad and I have had our challenges over the years," she wrote at the time, per E! News. "Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else. I'm at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family." Billy Ray echoed those sentiments in his own Mother's Day post on Instagram, praising his daughter and the progress they've made. "We are so close to a full healing." The 63-year-old continued, "We have all been through a lot. On this Mother's Day I would like to testify to a couple facts. 1) I still very much believe in the power of prayer and respectfully ask if you do also ... and have an extra prayer for the CYRUS Family... I humbly would accept," according to E! News.

According to Cyrus, the text from an unknown number read: 'Hey, it looks like life might be a little bit tough and just wanted you to know I'm in your corner. You've got a friend in your corner.' 'So I text back, I go, 'Who is this?' And it's like, 'Elizabeth Hurley,'' Cyrus recalled. 'Of all the people to reach out to me in that second that maybe I needed most… this friend who made me laugh.' Cyrus likened the sentiment to a moment in 1992 when the late Johnny Cash supported him as critics were bashing his music. 'Johnny said, 'Hey, you know, just remember that all things that are good come from almighty God above and that stuff happens, and in your case… the good outweighs the bad. Let 'em have it. I'm in your corner.'' The 'Achy Breaky Heart' singer went on to praise Hurley, telling Bentli: 'She's so impressively brilliant. She reminds me a lot of Dolly Parton. She's a very smart businesswoman. If you can laugh together, you can make it through everything.' He also said he has a relationship with Hurley's 23-year-old son Damian. Elizabeth Hurley says she and Billy Ray Cyrus are ‘happy together'
Elizabeth Hurley is sounding pretty giddy about her relationship with Billy Ray Cyrus. The model and actress recently spoke with European news outlet RTL TV at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation's 2025 Hot Pink Party about her romance with the country singer, People magazine reported. 'I have to go back to England tomorrow, but Billy will come to England soon,' she told the outlet. The couple hard-launched their relationship in April, posting a photo on social media showing Cyrus - in bunny ears - kissing Hurley on her cheek. 'Happy Easter ♥️,' the caption on the photo read. CNN reached out to representatives for the two for comment. Hurley told RTL TV that she and Cyrus have much in common. 'We are very happy, we both love country music, we both love the country, and we both love our kids,' she said. 'We're happy together.' And while their romance may be new, the pair have known each other for awhile. They worked together in 2022 as costars in the holiday film 'Christmas in Paradise.' Hurley shared a video about the project at the time. 'Shooting the poster for Christmas in Paradise with the heavenly @mrkelseygrammer and glorious @billyraycyrus,' she wrote in the caption of that post. Cyrus split with his wife, Australian musician Johanna Rosie Hodges, who goes by the name Firerose, in June 2024, less than a year after they married. When he announced their engagement in 2022, the singer and actor described Firerose as 'the real deal.' That news came after his former wife, Tish Cyrus, filed for divorce from him in April 2022, after 28 years of marriage. According to her filing, they had not lived together for two years. Billy Ray Cyrus said at the time there were no hard feelings in terms of the split from the woman with whom he shares five children: sons Trace and Braison and daughters Brandi, Miley and Noah. Hurley's only child, her 23-year-old son model and actor Damian Hurley, reacted positively in the comments of the post of his mother with Cyrus. The younger Hurley wrote celebratory emojis, including a red heart. His father is Hurley's ex, the late American businessman and philanthropist Steve Bing, who died in 2020. Elizabeth Hurley also famously had a longtime romance with fellow British actor, Hugh Grant. The couple split in 2000 after 13 years of dating.
