gets candid about working alongside an 'enormous' cast in
Marvel
Alongside co-star David Harbour, Scarlett opened up about her role in the MCU with Interview magazine. She shared how hard it was for her to play the same role over and over again for the superhero franchise. She talked about how while certain films challenged her character, while some more felt monotonous.
She shared that 'Some of the films that I did for Marvel engaged my character more than others. Like in Captain America: The Winter Soldier with
Chris Evans
, we were dynamic.
In some of the other films, the cast was so enormous and there was so much plot to serve that you start to feel like you're a device to move it along. And if you're committed to five and a half months of that, it's like, 'Okay. I can't paint my nails, I can't get a haircut.' These sound like silly problems, but your identity is wrapped up in this job for a long time, and if you're not doing engaging work as an actor, you feel a little cagey sometimes.

Harbour 'understands' Scarlett's view on her roles
David Harbour, who is known for playing Alexei in the films 'Black Widow' and 'Thunderbolts', shared how he fully understands Scarlett's feelings about her roles. He talked about playing Hopper in the popular series 'Stranger Things' and how it can get repetitive, especially after 10 years.
'When I started, I loved it so much. Buddies of mine who'd done TV shows for many years said, 'By season three or four, you'll be running.'
And I was like, 'Never! I love all these guys so much.' And then you get to a certain point where you're like, 'How much more story is there?' You're having to play a lot of the same beat, and there's a feeling where you're like, 'I want to take a risk. I want to do something that people haven't seen me do before.
' So yeah, after 10 years, it's like, 'Okay,'' said Harbour.
The actor then congratulated Johansson for her role as producer on the new 'Thunderbolts' film by saying, 'It's the opening day of a movie that basically you are the seventh Thunderbolt in. Your character is all over this movie…. You are an executive producer on it. Congratulations.'
The 'Black Widow' actress, however, shared that as soon as she got to know about her name being included in the film credits, she had requested its removal.

Donald Trump met with cheers and boos at ‘Les Misérables' debut amid Kennedy Center boycott & control row

President Donald Trump faced a mixed reception of cheers and boos as he attended the opening night of Les Misérables at the Kennedy Center on Wednesday, a visit marked by political overtones, a reported cast boycott, and rising tensions over his takeover of the iconic arts institution. When asked on the red carpet about the Kennedy Center performers who planned to walk out rather than perform in his presence, Trump dismissed the question sharply: 'I couldn't care less! Honestly, I couldn't. All I do is run the country well,' he said, before listing off what he described as his accomplishments. Melania Trump accompanied him at the event. CNN reported that about a dozen cast members were given the option to sit out the show and planned to do so, underscoring the ongoing friction between Trump and the arts community. The discord follows Trump's February move to install himself as chairman of the Kennedy Center, purge its board, and replace key figures with loyalists. He has also vowed to eliminate what he calls 'woke' programming, including events featuring drag performers. The performance of Les Misérables, a show centred on revolution and resistance to authoritarian rule seemed to mirror political divisions outside the theatre. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it better to shower in the morning or at night? Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance joined the Trumps at the show, days after the president deployed troops to quell immigration-related protests in Los Angeles. 'We're going to have a safe country... Remember, if I wasn't there... Los Angeles would have been burning to the ground,' Trump said. Critics including California Governor Gavin Newsom slammed Trump's actions as 'dictatorial.' On social media platform X, Newsom reacted to Trump's musical appearance with the jab: 'Someone explain the plot to him.' Despite the controversy, Trump claimed to be a longtime fan of Les Misérables. 'I love the songs, I love the play,' he said in an interview last week. When asked which character he identified with, he deferred to Melania: 'That's a tough one... you better answer that one, honey.' Trump's control of the Kennedy Center has already sparked resignations from prominent figures like Shonda Rhimes and Ben Folds. The musical Hamilton canceled its run at the venue in protest, which Trump dismissed by saying he had 'never liked' the rap-based show. His influence has extended beyond the Kennedy Center to other cultural institutions like the Smithsonian and universities, in what critics see as a broad campaign to reshape American arts and education around conservative values.

Scarlett Johansson says Marvel's large casts made her feel like a ‘plot device' in some films, talks about personal limits

Scarlett Johansson, widely recognized for playing Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), recently shared her experience working in films with large ensemble casts. In an interview with Interview Magazine, Johansson spoke candidly about feeling 'cagey' during her time on some Marvel projects, especially when character depth took a backseat to expansive plotlines and star-studded lineups. Johansson made her final MCU appearance in Avengers: Endgame, released in 2019. The film also marked the last appearance of Chris Evans, who played Captain America, concluding their journey in Marvel's Phase 3. The actress featured in a total of nine Marvel movies, becoming a key figure in the franchise. Character depth varied across Marvel films Johansson mentioned that her character had more screen engagement in certain films, particularly Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where she shared significant screen time and story arc with Chris Evans. 'Some of the films that I did for Marvel engaged my character more than others,' she said. 'Like in Captain America: The Winter Soldier with Chris, we were really dynamic.' However, she pointed out that not every film offered the same creative involvement. Being part of a large cast came with its challenges Reflecting on her overall MCU journey, Johansson admitted feeling more like a functional piece in some of the bigger ensemble movies. 'In some of the other films, the cast was so enormous and there was so much plot to serve that you start to feel like you're a device to move it along,' she explained. She also highlighted how such long commitments often blur personal identity, adding, 'If you're committed to five and a half months of that, it's like, 'Okay. I can't paint my nails; I can't get a haircut.'' Cannes praise and Jurassic world Despite the mixed experience, Johansson is moving forward with new creative ventures. Her directorial debut, Eleanor the Great, received positive attention at the Cannes Film Festival. She is also set to appear in Jurassic World Rebirth opposite Jonathan Bailey. The film is scheduled for release on July 4.
