Britney Spears Given Warning After Lighting Cigarette on Flight — and It's Not the First Time (Exclusive Source)
Multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE that while traveling from Cabo San Lucas to Los Angeles with her security, the "Toxic" singer was drinking alcohol and lit a cigarette during the flight, which is a violation of federal aviation regulations.
The move alarmed flight attendants on the charter plane, who insisted that Spears, 43, put out the cigarette — which she did. Regardless, authorities were contacted mid-flight.
When the plane landed in LAX, Spears was met by authorities and warned about her in-flight conduct, and was then free to leave, PEOPLE has learned.
"This is not her first warning," a source tells PEOPLE exclusively. "She doesn't exactly follow the rules."
JSX, the public charter operator that Spears was aboard, has no comment regarding the incident, while a rep for Spears did not return a request for comment. TMZ was first to report the news.

Spears was under a conservatorship for 13 years following mental health concerns after a series of troubling incidents in the early 2000s. Her father Jamie served as the conservator of her estate.
She successfully petitioned the court to terminate the conservatorship in November 2021.
Since the conservatorship ended, Spears has released her best-selling memoir, The Woman in Me. In the tell-all book, she spoke about her childhood, her relationship with Justin Timberlake, dancing with a snake during the 2001 MTV VMAs and other anecdotes about her life in the spotlight.
Ahead of Spears' book release, the singer exclusively told PEOPLE about moving on from the conservatorship that oversaw her life from 2008 to 2021. "Over the past 15 years or even at the start of my career, I sat back while people spoke about me and told my story for me,' she said about reclaiming her voice.
'After getting out of my conservatorship, I was finally free to tell my story without consequences from the people in charge of my life," Spears added.

Xavier Worthy reacts to Taylor Swift's viral NFL draft reaction: 'That's crazy'
Taylor Swift, NFL draft scout? While most of the attention surrounding Swift's appearance on the "New Heights" podcast was focused on her relationship with Travis Kelce, the pop star also pointed out her excitement during the 2024 NFL Draft. Specifically, Swift detailed her elation about the Kansas City Chiefs' selection of Xavier Worthy with the 28th overall pick. On Tuesday, Worthy responded to the viral clip. "That's crazy," Worthy said. "I ain't gonna lie, she's the biggest pop star in this generation so it's crazy to have somebody running around the house screaming, 'We drafted you!'" The pick was only made possible after the Chiefs traded up with the Buffalo Bills, which became cause for celebration in the Swift residence. "I became like a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, 'We drafted Xavier Worthy,'" Swift said. Kelce was a non-believer at first, saying that he wasn't sure if Swift had the right information. "I forget where I was, but you were the first person to tell me that we drafted the fastest man in the draft," Kelce said. Chiefs fans were given many reasons to be happy about the selection and their newest superfan wasted no time joining the crowd. "I was freaking out," Swift added. Worthy certainly proved to be a solid addition to the Kansas City offense in his rookie year, totaling 742 scrimmage yards and nine touchdowns on 79 touches – also proving to be someone that rose to the occasion in the postseason. Heading into his second season, the former Texas star will look to build off an impressive rookie year. Turns out, he'll be doing it with one of the world's biggest celebrities in his corner.
