Tributes have been paid to a 'beautiful' husband and stepfather who died in a crash with an ambulance. Alistair Stewart died after his car crashed with the emergency vehicle on the A98 in Arradoul, Moray. He was driving a blue Renault Megane when it collided with an ambulance carrying a patient at around 6.50am on Monday, August 11. The 36-year-old welder from Ardesier was pronounced dead at the scene. Two paramedics and the patient from the ambulance were taken to Dr Gray's Hospital and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Hospital for treatment. None of their injuries are thought to be serious. Alistair married his wife Mikaela in July 2022 after 11 years together. His family said when they married, he became a stepdad to two children called Grace and Leon and a grandad to baby Finn. A statement from the family said: 'He was a loving husband. Alistair was a beloved son to Grace and Neil Stewart, of Ardersier. 'He is a much loved brother to Mhairi and Alan, and caring uncle to Rhys, Eryn, Owen and Jack, he'll be sorely missed by us all'. 'He was a welder at Forsyths Buckie, he was born in Inverness in November 1988 and then brought up in Ardersier and attended Culloden Academy. He attended Global Highland Skills Academy to be trained as a welder. Alistair's wife Mikaela Stewart paid a heartfelt tribute to her husband, posting on Facebook: 'My beautiful husband. Forever in mine and the kids' hearts. Love you.' She also shared a picture with her husband with an angel emoji and the words 'Forever & Always Mr S.' Heartbroken pals and relatives commented on the post to share their condolences. One friend said: 'Mikaela, you, the kids and the whole family are in our hearts. Sending you all the love and strength.' Another wrote: 'Mikaela. I'm so sorry to be reading this. The biggest of hugs to you and the kids. Thinking of you all.' Tributes described Alistair, who worked as a welder, as a 'lovely guy' and a 'gentleman'. Garry Jamieson said: 'So sorry for your loss RIP Alistair Stewart. I still can't take it in - it's heartbreaking.' Fiona Foster said: 'He was a lovely guy sending you the kids and Ali's family so much love.' Stacey Barr added: 'Thinking of you Mikaela, the kids and your family at this sad time. Ali was a gentleman and I feel lucky to have known him.' Police closed the road on Monday as they launched an investigation into the crash. The road remained closed throughout the night to allow Moray Council to carry out repair works and reopened on Tuesday. Officers are appealing for information relating to the crash. Witnesses or any drivers with dash cam footage have been asked to come forward. Sergeant Dave Cooper from the Road Policing Unit, Elgin said: 'Our thoughts are with Alistair's family and friends at this difficult time. 'Our enquiries are ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or the vehicles prior to the crash and who hasn't already spoken to officers to contact us. 'I would also ask anyone who was in the area and may have dash cam footage which could assist to get in touch.' Tesla targets UK home energy supply by 2026 – taking on Centrica and Octopus Energy
TESLA is planning to supply energy to UK households as early as 2026. Elon Musk's firm has applied for a licence in order to take on energy companies including British Gas owner Centrica and Octopus Energy. The company hopes to start supplying energy to homes and businesses across England, Scotland and Wales as soon as next year. Tesla Energy Ventures applied for the licence last month, according to a new filing published by regulator Ofgem. The electric car manufacturer also has a solar energy and battery storage business. The news comes around two years after Tesla had first started hiring for a head of operations who would run its proposed energy supply business. Tesla has been involved in the UK energy market since 2020, when it was granted a licence to be an electricity generator. In the US, the group has been an electricity supplier in Texas for the past three years. The development comes amid a backdrop of waning demand for Tesla's electric vehicles across Europe in recent months. Industry figures showed an almost 60 per cent plunge in the number of new Tesla registrations in the UK last month, compared with last year.
