John Wall has officially closed the book on his NBA playing career. However, his connection to the game is far from over. Just hours after announcing his retirement, the five-time All-Star secured his next role as he joined Prime Video's studio crew as the platform begins its first season broadcasting NBA games under a new 11-year rights deal.
Wall's new role in the NBA world started another chapter in his legacy.
John Wall lands new role after NBA retirement
John Wall, 34, will join a high-profile team that already features Blake Griffin and Dirk Nowitzki as lead analysts. Dwyane Wade, Steve Nash, and Candace Parker will rotate between the studio and commentary duties, giving Prime Video a stacked lineup for its debut season.
For Wall, the transition is a natural one. Though his broadcast résumé is short, limited to two G League Winter Showcase games for ESPN and NBA TV last year, he sees this as a chance to channel his lifelong love of basketball into a new format.
'If you never really had the opportunity to sit down and talk to me, you won't really understand how much I love basketball, where my basketball mind is at, where my IQ is,' Wall told the Washington Post. 'I can basically tell you the best player in the country — from girls to boys, high school, to the players that's in college, to the people that's at the NBA and WNBA.'
The former point guard joked that broadcasting will at least spare his family from his nonstop in-game commentary.
'I love to do it when I'm home, watching with my friends and kids,' Wall said to the Associated Press. 'They all would eventually end up telling me to 'shut up and let us watch.''
John Wall's NBA career in a nutshell
Wall retires after 11 NBA seasons, most of them with the Washington Wizards, where he became the face of the franchise. Drafted No. 1 overall in 2010, he averaged 18.7 points and 8.9 assists across his career, earning five consecutive All-Star selections.
Wass is known for his blistering speed and vision. He guided Washington to multiple playoff runs before injuries cut into his prime. Later stints with the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers gave him brief flashes of a comeback, but by 2023, it was clear his playing days were winding down.

Casey Mittelstadt trade rumors stir Boston Bruins off-season buzz

Casey Mittelstadt (Image Via Twitter) In this off-season, the Boston Bruins find themselves again at the focal point of trade speculation. After their streak of playoff appearances came to a bitter end last year, the management wasted little time in ruffling the roster. Victorious new faces such as Viktor Arvidsson, Tanner Jeannot, Sean Kuraly, Michael Eyssimont, and Jordan Harris put forth a strong case to come back in 2025–26. But despite these acquisitions, trade rumors are rife in Boston. Casey Mittelstadt is now in the limelight, with his position in the playmaking room between fans and analysts. Casey Mittelstadt's uncertain future with the Boston Bruins Brought in at the trade deadline to shore up Boston's center depth, Casey Mittelstadt's early numbers say otherwise, as in his 18 games, the 26-year-old has only six points to show for and an alarming minus-17 rating. While the skill set indicates some untapped potential, some insiders contend the Bruins were more interested in acquiring the young prospect William Zellers in the Charlie Coyle deal, and Mittelstadt was more of an afterthought. Should he be dealt once again, it would be his third time moving since 2024, highlighting just how precarious his status may be despite having both age and potential on his side. Tips and Tricks Undo Goaltender Joonas Korpisalo and forward Pavel Zacha have found themselves in rumour mills since the draft, but their agents have put paid to any notion of discontentment in Boston. Still, if the Bruins should stumble at the start of the season, tweaks to the roster might present themselves. Another name appearing in the speculation is right-winger Fabian Lysell, the Bruins' 2021 highly touted first-round pick. Lysell has been linked to the Edmonton Oilers but has never quite established himself as a full-time NHL player. However, cap space restrictions and Edmonton's unwillingness to give up young assets make any trade a difficult proposition, thus leaving his short-term future in limbo.
