En-Nesyri Set for Saudi Switch as Al Hilal Prepare Bid

Morocco World2 days ago

Youssef En-Nesyri might be on the move once more – and this time, Saudi Arabia is calling.
After a prolific season with Fenerbahçe, where he netted 30 goals and chipped in with seven assists across 52 games, the Moroccan forward has caught the eye of Al Hilal. The Saudi giants, who have just brought in Simone Inzaghi as manager, are ready to splash €40 million to lure him away from Istanbul.
Fenerbahçe, who signed En-Nesyri from Sevilla for €19.5 million last year, are open to the deal. And they're not the only ones who stand to gain.
Sevilla smartly included a 10% sell-on clause, meaning they'd pocket around €4 million from the transfer – a considerable sum at a time when they're missing out on European competition.
This isn't the first time Saudi clubs have come knocking. Al Nassr had tried their luck with a €35 million offer last January, but Fenerbahçe held firm. Now, with a bigger bid on the table and En-Nesyri reportedly open to a new challenge after much backlash from fans in recent weeks, the stars might be aligning.
If the move goes through, Fenerbahçe could use the cash to go after Aleksandar Mitrovic, who ironically plays for Al Hilal, as they look to bolster their frontline once again and compete for silverware next season. Tags: Al HilalFenerbahceSaudi pro leagueYoussef En-Nesyri

Two Moroccan Banks Make 2025 Forbes Global 2000 List

Doha – Two Moroccan banking giants, Attijariwafa Bank and Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP), have secured positions in the prestigious Forbes Global 2000 ranking of the world's largest publicly traded companies for 2025. Attijariwafa Bank, led by CEO Mohamed El Kettani, ranks 979th globally with impressive financial metrics. The bank reported $4.84 billion in revenue, $956 million in profits, $71.7 billion in assets, and a market capitalization of $14.44 billion. Founded in 1911 and headquartered in Casablanca, Attijariwafa Bank employs over 20,583 people. The bank provides international commercial banking services through various business areas, including domestic banking, Europe and offshore; specialized financial subsidiaries; international retail banking; and insurance and property. BCP, under the leadership of Naziha Belkeziz, placed 1,812th in the global ranking. The bank posted revenues of $3.3 billion, profits of $416 million, assets valued at $53.5 billion, and a market capitalization of $5.97 billion. Established in 1926 with headquarters also in Casablanca, BCP operates as a commercial bank focusing on banking intermediation and management services. The institution employs 2,717 people and was formally incorporated on February 2, 1961. The Forbes Global 2000 list, now in its 23rd edition, evaluates companies based on four equally weighted criteria: revenue, profits, assets, and market value. Africa's representation in the ranking remains limited, with only 17 companies making the cut. South Africa dominates the continental presence with 14 companies, followed by Morocco with two and Egypt with one. Attijariwafa Bank and BCP rank 6th and 16th, respectively, among African entries. The global ranking continues to be topped by American companies, with JPMorgan Chase maintaining its top position for the third consecutive year. The US has 612 companies on the list, while China follows with 317. The top 10 global companies include JPMorgan (USA), Berkshire Hathaway (USA), ICBC (China), Saudi Aramco (Saudi Arabia), Amazon (USA), Bank of America (USA), China Construction Bank (China), Agricultural Bank of China (China), Alphabet (USA), and Microsoft (USA). Collectively, the 2,000 companies in this year's ranking represent $52.9 trillion in annual revenue, $4.9 trillion in profits, $242.2 trillion in assets, and a combined market capitalization of $91.3 trillion. Banking remains the most represented industry in the ranking with 328 institutions. The sector's strong presence is partly attributed to banks' naturally high asset values, with 88 of the top 100 companies by assets being financial institutions. Belgium Opens New Visa Application Center in Rabat

Doha – Belgium inaugurated on Thursday a new center for processing visa applications in Rabat. The facility, located at TLS-Millenium Business Centre, complements an existing center in Casablanca, expanding services for Moroccan visa applicants. The opening ceremony was attended by several officials, including Joris Salden, Director General of Consular Affairs for Belgium's Federal Public Service for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, along with Gilles Heyvaert, Belgium's Ambassador to Morocco, and Bassem Missaoui, TLS Contact's Director General for North and West Africa. In his address, Salden noted that the new center represents an important step in improving access to consular services. He stated that his mission within consular diplomacy is to ensure transparent, professional, reliable, and accessible service. 'This center aligns perfectly with our strategy to bring our services closer to citizens,' Salden said. He explained that the Rabat TLS center will initially be dedicated exclusively to students to simplify the visa application process for those pursuing education in Belgium. 'We are pleased to welcome these students for high-quality training in Belgium, which helps strengthen the historical ties between our two countries,' he added. Previously, students enrolled in higher education programs in Belgium had to visit the embassy in Rabat to complete a study questionnaire and travel to Casablanca to submit their applications. Now, students can complete all procedures in Rabat on the same day: file submission at TLS Rabat, followed by a questionnaire at the Belgian Embassy. 'From now on, a single procedure will be sufficient, which represents a significant simplification of the process,' Salden pointed out. He went on to explain that implementing a digitalization system allows for more efficient processing of applications, while requiring a new work approach based on dedicated software and digital infrastructure. Ambassador Heyvaert stated that this initiative aims 'above all to guarantee quality services and ensure applications are processed within reasonable timeframes.' The ambassador noted that 'Morocco is a strategic country for Belgium, just as Belgium holds a strategic position for Morocco,' continuing that visa policy 'is part of the relationship framework that helps strengthen ties between the two countries.' Missaoui of TLS Contact recalled that since 2016, TLS has proudly worked with Belgium to collect visa applications, initially in Casablanca. 'Today marks an expansion of operations,' he said. The company is committed to ensuring optimal reception conditions that match the high service standards and quality of welcome it intends to offer visa applicants, Missaoui affirmed. The Belgian Embassy in Morocco processes more than 20,000 visa applications annually, a figure that continues to rise. Read also: France Expands Consular Services to Morocco's Southern Provinces

Brahim Díaz Staying as Real Madrid Sign Mastantuono

Brahim Díaz isn't going anywhere. Despite Real Madrid signing 17-year-old Argentine wonderkid Franco Mastantuono, new manager Xabi Alonso has told Díaz directly that he's part of his plans and will have an important role this season. Mastantuono is already making a name for himself back home, especially after scoring in the Superclásico against Boca Juniors. He's quick, confident, and can play both on the wing and in central areas. But his arrival raised a few eyebrows about what it might mean for Díaz. Would the Moroccan be pushed out? Alonso has made it clear that Díaz is staying. He personally told the Atlas Lion he's trusted, valued, and will get his chances this season. Real were also thinking about signing Lyon's Rayan Cherki, but Alonso shut that idea down because he prefers Díaz's style and attitude. That hasn't shut interest from other clubs. Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly eyeing Díaz as a possible replacement for Florian Wirtz, who has moved to Liverpool. Madrid haven't received a formal offer yet, but it could come. Still, Díaz is focused on Madrid. He's already shown he can fight for a place and impress when given the chance. And with Alonso backing him and Madrid continuing to mix youth with experience, it looks like he'll have a real shot this season. Tags: Brahim DiazFranco MastantuonoReal MadridXabi Alonso
