#NSTviral: Dad mistakes child's tie-dye project for black magic

New Straits Times21 hours ago
KUALA LUMPUR: A father who believed his family had been targeted by black magic was surprised to discover that the mysterious object was actually his child's art project.
In a now-viral Facebook post, Eizwan Shah Omar shared his experience.
"At first, I thought someone had sent santau (black magic) or something similar. I told my wife to throw it away. Then my child came looking for it and said, 'That's my art project.'
"What kind of art project is this?" he said.
The suspicious object turned out to be a small piece of white cloth, folded and tied with three strings — enough to set any superstitious mind racing.
The father later realised what it really was after seeing it in his child's textbook.
In the comments, users found the situation hilarious.
Iffah Harun wrote: "That's actually a tie-dye technique. Once it's dipped in dye and the strings removed, it won't look like santau or a pocong anymore — it'll turn out beautiful."
Liyana Aznan added: "This is called tie-dye. We used to do it in school for art class. You tie the cloth, then mix whichever colours you like on it. Once you untie it, it looks really pretty."

(Video) Zarina Anjoulie Sparks Criticism For Hanging Out With Controversial Figure Hot Daddy

Local media personality Zarina Anjoulie is no stranger to controversy. However, netizens say she might have gone too far after the actress-turned-influencer revealed that she and Hot Daddy are filming a video together. Over the weekend, Zarina updated her social media, revealing that she had recently filmed a video with Hot Daddy and his female partners. For those unaware, Hot Daddy, whose real name is Hasli Ikhwan Arif Zul Hasli, is a controversial social media figure who was arrested last year for engaging in the making of adult films and distributing pornographic material of him and other women via social media. While police have dropped the charges, Hot Daddy was shunned by netizens, who expressed disgust over his actions. As such, Zarina's posting sparked outrage with many criticising her for platforming the polarising individual and his partners. As for why Zarina was filming with Hot Daddy, it's assumed that the group was shooting an advertisement for a product under Zarina's Sylvia's Secrets brand. On social media, many netizens slammed Zarina for collaborating with Hot Daddy. Some also lamented that the actress seemed friendly with him and his female partners, despite once criticising him for his content and alleged crimes. Others also expressed disappointment over Zarina using a controversial figure to bring publicity for her brand, noting that it would do more harm than good to her company. Zarina has yet to respond to the criticisms, but considering her personality, it's unlikely that she will. Meanwhile, she continues to post about the filming with Hot Daddy and his female partners on her social media. However, some netizens said that the video was the last straw for them, arguing that they can no longer support the media personality or her brand since she's working with someone as controversial as Hot Daddy. It appears Zarina made the wrong move in collaborating with Hot Daddy. Perhaps she believes that bad publicity is good publicity. What are your thoughts on this? Sources: Instagram, Facebook

When halal transcends meat, food preparation but includes avoiding food operators with exposed ‘aurat'

THE adage 'eating with your eyes' takes on a new meaning with a video uploaded on a foodie influencer's Facebook page that raised many eyebrows. Brade Sodok's review of Nasi Kukus Cik Rohani did not contain any lengthy wordy descriptions. Instead, he let the video and the restauranteur do the talking. The food does indeed look very appetising with Cik Rohani herself assuring the dishes are not only authentic and home-cooked but also reasonably priced. However, it seems it was not the food that was the star attraction with the food entrepreneur attracting plenty of comments for her appearances. The post has generated 5.6K likes, 1.7K comments and 574shares and 680K views at time of writing with plenty of commenters focusing on the restaurateur's physical appearances instead of how her food would taste, Those with a conservative perspective were less than impressed with her 'indecent' dressing. One commenter simply declared this lady 'knew no shame'. Agreeing with the sentiment, another commenter said there was no need to display her wares even if she did not wear a head scarf. She added not every customer would avert their gaze. One commenter went as far as to question the moral fibre and religious upbringing of the enterprising businesswoman, taking umbrage with the manner in which she spoke even though it was mere social media content. I 'Might as well not wear anything, sis' was the view of one commenter since she seemed to think that she needed to show off her cleavage to drum up some business. One lady commenter stated that she was embarrassed even as a female. She argued it would be awkward if there were other family members, especially kids, in tow. There were those who pointed out that this was clever 'marketing strategy', specifically the supposed flashing of cleavage was the main attraction at the restaurant. However, there were those who seem think it was just fine. One commenter urged Cik Rohani to just ignore the brickbats as they were just jealous, applauding the lady's entrepreneur spirit. If you are not offended by the choice of attire and indeed want to give the food a try, you can find the establishment in Taman Danau Kota, Kuala Lumpur. With the video having fetched a staggering viewership of 680K times, do not be surprised if you find it difficult to find an empty seat given this post has significantly increased the profile of Cik Rohani and her restaurant. This is regardless of one commenter having marked Cik Rohani as having failed from the food preparation perspective 'for failing to wear the apron and hair cover'. On this note, a commenter ticked off the poster for making the content of a woman who exposed her aurat or parts of the female body that should be covered, – Aug 18, 2025
