Michael Jackson biopic likely Moonwalking to 2026
Despite the palpable audience demand for more pop music in movie theaters, moviegoers will likely have to wait another year for at least one Bad biopic. Per Variety, executives at Lionsgate say that Michael, the Antoine Fuqua biopic about the extremely normal and uncomplicated life and times of Michael Jackson, will likely move to a 2026 release date. You can practically hear the crowds of people shamoan-ing in anguish over the decision. Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer stated during the studio's Q4 2025 earnings call that they have seen '3½ hours of amazing footage' and will give a more concrete release date next week. However, the studio will likely move Michael 'out of the fiscal year, which will impact fiscal '26 financial results but will bolster an already strong fiscal '27 slate.' The film was initially set to bow in October 2025.
Of course, do you remember the time five months ago when Puck reported that the film was having third-act problems, namely over how to handle the child sexual abuse allegations Jackson faced over the final 20 years of his life. According to that report, the film 'directly engages with the allegations against Jackson. And it not only engages, it wants very much to convince you Michael is innocent.' The script included a scene in which the Jackson family discusses paying off Jordan Chandler, who accused Jackson of child sexual abuse in 1993. The Jacksons and Chandlers settled out of court for a reported $25 million and an agreement that the Chandlers would not appear in any dramatizations. Unfortunately for those looking to finally clear Jackson's name in a biopic starring his nephew, the scenes were reportedly already shot and have since been scrapped as the filmmakers searched for a new happy ending to Michael Jackson's life. Those reports were contested by anonymous production sources to People, who said, 'The Michael Jackson biopic is not in total chaos. The inflammatory headlines about the moving halting are simply not true. The film is moving forward, and reshoots are happening in March.' The following month, Deadline reported that the film would be split into two movies, presumably titled HIStory Begins and HIStory Continues. Alas, it sounds more like HIStory Delayed.

The Touching Reason Princess Diana's Winter Coats Have Never Been for Sale
One of the largest ever auctions of Princess Diana's belongings is set to take place later this month in Beverly Hills. Over 300 items will be up for grabs in the sale, called 'Princess Diana's Style & A Royal Collection' and put on by Julien's Auctions. One item that you won't find in this auction (or any other)? Winter coats—for a thoughtful and poignant 300 pieces from Princess Diana's personal collection are going up for auction this month—but one item bidders won't find? The late Princess of Wales' winter coats. The auction—set to take place on June 26 at 10 a.m. PST at The Peninsula Beverly Hills—will feature Diana's clothes, shoes, accessories, and handbags, but no winter coats. Julien's Auctions is putting on the sale, called 'Princess Diana's Style & A Royal Collection,' and the auction house's co-founder and executive director Martin Nolan explained why to People—and what it says about the late royal. 'We learned through this how generous Diana was, always giving items,' he said. 'And you never see a coat from Diana come to auction, because she used to get her butler or her staff or friends to drive around London, [in] January, February, [in the] freezing cold.' 'She'd find homeless people, and she would give her coats away,' Nolan continued. 'That's how she was—without any spectacle or whatever.' Living in the U.K., Diana certainly had no shortage of coats—but, alluding to her passion for helping the homeless, she donated them all. Eradicating homelessness is a cause she's passed down to her sons Prince William and Prince Harry, as they have taken up the mantle since her death on August 31, 1997 at just 36 years old. Though there won't be any winter coats, there will be plenty of other items in the sale to choose from, including pieces from Diana's enviable wardrobe. 'She worked with Anna Harvey from British Vogue, an editor, and other designers because she always wanted to spotlight British designers and up-and-coming designers,' Nolan said. 'But then the people that she [had] advising her said, 'Diana, you're more than just a British royal. You're a global icon.'' 'So then she started wearing Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, Versace,' he added. 'So she wore more of the internationally known brands.' One item up for auction is Princess Diana's Lady Dior purse, named for Diana—who was Lady Diana Spencer before her 1981 marriage—and gifted to her by Bernadette Chirac, the First Lady of France, in September 1995. Originally known as the Chouchou bag, the bag was renamed in her honor after Diana wore it on her arm in Argentina in November 1995 and popularized it. 'And it's the most talked about, sought-after item that we could have in this entire lot,' Nolan told People. 'People just love, love, love this bag. If you were to buy it in the high street today, [it would] cost you somewhere between $6,500 and $7,000, if you could get it. We estimate this one, Princess Diana's, [will go for] $20,000 to $40,000—but it'll go to the roof.' Read the original article on InStyle

‘King of the Hill' Creators Pay Tribute to Jonathan Joss: ‘His Voice Will Be Missed'
It's been three days since Jonathan Joss was shot to death by a neighbor in San Antonio, but tributes continue to roll in for 59-year-old actor. Ahead of the 'King of the Hill' Season 14 premiere on August 4, the team behind the Hulu revival paid tribute to the late voice actor on Tuesday. 'Jonathan brought King of the Hill's 'John Redcorn' to life for over a dozen seasons, including in the upcoming revival. His voice will be missed at King of the Hill, and we extend our deepest condolences to Jonathan's friends and family,' creators Mike Judge, Greg Daniels and co-showrunner Saladin Patterson said in a joint statement. Meanwhile, Joss' 'Parks and Recreation' co-star Chris Pratt also shares a message in his honor. 'Damn. RIP Jonathan,' he wrote on Instagram on Monday. 'Always such a kind dude. He played Ken Hotate in Parks and was also in Mag 7. Sad to see. Prayers up. Hug your loved ones.' 'The cast has been texting together about it all day and we're just heartbroken,' fellow co-star Nick Offerman told People. 'Jonathan was such a sweet guy and we loved having him as our Chief Ken Hotate. A terrible tragedy.' Joss' husband Tristan Kern de Gonzales previously explained that the shooting was caused by a homophobic neighbor who had allegedly accosted the newlywed couple in the past. 'My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at the site of our former home. That home was burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire. We reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times and nothing was done,' he wrote on Facebook. 'Throughout that time we were harassed regularly by individuals who made it clear they did not accept our relationship. Much of the harassment was openly homophobic. 'When we returned to the site to check our mail we discovered the skull of one of our dogs and its harness placed in clear view. This caused both of us severe emotional distress. We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw,' Kern de Gonzales continued. 'While we were doing this a man approached us. He started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired. Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life.' The suspected shooter was detained at the scene and has been charged with murder. However, despite Joss' family statement, the San Antonio Police have stated: 'Despite online claims of this being a hate crime, currently the investigation has found no evidence to indicate that the Mr. Joss's murder was related to his sexual orientation.' Arnold Schwarzenegger Just Confronted His Son Patrick Schwarzenegger After He Said He Wished He Didn't Have His Dad's Last Name
When Patrick Schwarzenegger landed the role of Saxon in Season 3 of The White Lotus, it was inevitable that he was going to be subjected to the usual nepotism discourse. For reference, 31-year-old Patrick had already been acting for 10 years by the time he starred in the hit HBO series, but hadn't really broken into the mainstream before this point. And in an interview with the Times back in February, Patrick opened up about the frustration that he felt as a result of his last name — and how he even briefly wished that he wasn't a Schwarzenegger so that he could avoid the nepo baby backlash. If you're wondering, Patrick's dad is Hollywood actor, esteemed bodybuilder, and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and his mom is Maria Shriver, a journalist and the niece of former US President John F. Kennedy. Related: I'm Absolutely Losing It Over Miley Cyrus's Theory About "Disney Gays" And "Nickelodeon Gays" That Just Destroyed My Entire Childhood "I know there are people who'll say I only got this role because of who my dad is," Patrick said at the time. "Of course, it's frustrating and you can get boxed in, and you think at that moment: I wish I didn't have my last name. But that's a small moment. I would never trade my life with anyone.' And Arnold confronted his son over this comment when they were paired up for Variety's latest Actors On Actors series. In the video, which dropped on Tuesday, Arnie expressed his confusion over how 'Schwarzenegger' could ever be considered a hindrance, as it has always been 'a big plus' in his experience. Related: Let's Talk About How Creepy The Sydney Sweeney Bikini Pics Are He said to his son: 'One of the quotes that I read was how it was difficult to get through this because you have the name Schwarzenegger. So explain that to me, because I didn't understand it.' 'To me, the name Schwarzenegger always meant a big plus,' Arnold went on. 'And all of a sudden, you were talking about [how] it can also be kind of an obstacle, explain that.' Patrick then told his dad that he went so far as to consider changing his name for the sake of his career, and revealed that White Lotus creator Mike White was apprehensive about casting him because of his famous family ties. 'I mean, from my side, I feel it in multiple different ways,' Patrick said of the obstacles that come with Schwarzenegger. 'Mike White said it comes with baggage, is what he said. Not meaning our last name, Schwarzenegger, but I think this idea of when you have successful parents, like I do with you and with mom.' 'Anybody out there that's trying to be an actor that's kind of in those shoes, there's an added level of what other people think,' he went on. 'And Mike was worried about, if he cast me, what other people would think — which they did, they did care about that. People said I got the role just because of you or mom, and I think Mike was a little bit apprehensive at first about that.' 'There were times earlier in my career where I was wondering: 'Does it make sense to go under some sort of alias? Does it make sense to go under a different name? Do I just use Schwarzenegger? Does that add to the comparison?'' Patrick then confessed. 'Ultimately, what you've done with your last name and what you've built is incredible," he added. "It took a while for me to get to a point where I was less worried about comparison and living in your shadow versus me just wanting to carve my own path and wanting to do it the way that I thought I should.' 'Well, I'm glad that you kept the name,' Arnold replied before joking: 'Because now I can take credit: 'Yeah, my son! The apple doesn't fall from the tree!' That's the kind of lines that I'm using now.' The 77-year-old star then pointed out that nepotism in Hollywood is nothing new, saying: 'You basically joined the shortlist of people that are actors in Hollywood who had famous parents; Jamie Lee Curtis with Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh. Michael Douglas, who I have worked with — and I've worked with his father, Kirk Douglas.' 'There's a whole list of people,' Arnie observed. 'I mean, Jeff Bridges, I've worked with, and there was his famous father, doing the TV series. The list goes on and on and on, and all of them benefited — and also, of course, had to show that they had talent.' 'I think that if you show that you have the substance, you can get rid of this whole idea of nepotism,' he concluded. 'And I think that everyone recognizes that now.' 'Of course, I understand that you guys have given me… You know, how hard you've worked throughout your life, and mom, to give the life that I have, and the opportunities that I've had,' Patrick replied. 'I totally understand the life that you guys have given me, but one of the biggest [pieces of] advice you always gave us kids is to work hard, and I feel like I've tried to honor that by working as hard as I can.'
