Another 10,000 drivers face Citroen recall over faulty airbags
Citroen has expanded its critical 'stop-drive' airbag campaign, now including C4, DS4, and DS5 models. The urgent recall instructs owners not to drive their vehicles due to a potentially dangerous airbag fault. This expansion follows an initial recall earlier this year, prompted by a report of fatal injuries sustained by a woman in a 2014 Citroen C3 in Reims, France, last year. That incident led to the recall of C3 models manufactured between 2009 and 2016, and DS3s from 2016 to 2019. The recall now affects C4 models built between 2010 and 2011, DS4s from 2010 and 2011 and DS5s produced from 2010 and 2013, resulting in 9,968 vehicles across the UK. A Citroen spokesperson told the PA News Agency: 'To date, more than 66,000 vehicles have had their new replacement airbags fitted. We forecast that the majority of customer vehicles will have their new replacement airbags fitted by the end of September, with the remaining cases handled as swiftly as possible within the coming weeks.' They added: 'In addition, Stellantis has proactively decided to expand the stop-drive to include additional Citroen C4 (2010-2011), DS4 (2010-2011), and DS5 (2010-2013) vehicles. In the UK, this amounts to an additional 9,968 vehicles.' Citroen says that owners can check if their vehicle has been affected and what actions they will need to take by simply typing in their vehicle's VIN number into the brand's 'check tool' on the Citroen website.

Oxford road set for overnight closures ahead of traffic filter trial
A key city road will close overnight next month to allow for layout changes and signage ahead of an upcoming traffic filter Ferry Road and Cherwell Drive in Oxford will shut from 22 to 27 September, between 19:30 and 06:00, for resurfacing and installation of traffic islands and County Council confirmed the works were part of preparations for the trial, which will see motorists fined £70 for driving through certain roads at restricted times. Marston Ferry Road is one of six filter trial has been delayed until after Botley Road reopens following the completion of major rail improvement works in August 2026. In the meantime, the council is considering a temporary £5 congestion charge on the same roads. A decision is expected in mid-September after a public approved, the charge could begin this autumn. The proposal will be reviewed by the council's scrutiny committee on 27 August, with a final decision due on 10 on Hollow Way and Marston Ferry Road would operate Monday to Saturday, 07:00 to 09:00 and 15:00 to 18:00. On other roads - Hythe Bridge Street, St Cross Road, Thames Street, St Clements, and Hollow Way - they would apply daily from 07:00 to 19:00. After the closure, motorists will need to travel to Reading for their nearest store. Other alternatives include Tonbridge, Mayfair, Tottenham and Milton Keynes. Customers were informed of the closure via email. The motor company said its central client care team will handle vehicle finance, workshop bookings and servicing. The email was subsequently shared across social media, although their website is yet to be updated. It reads: "As a valued client of Stratstone Land Rover Slough, we are writing to inform you that as part of a strategic regional restructure, we have taken the decision to permanently close our Slough showroom on 31 August 2025.
