After Bhopal '90-degree' bridge goes viral, Congress drops pic of Andhra's ‘Temple Run' highway
The Congress Kerala on X shared a Google Maps image of a bridge in Andhra Pradesh Monday, showing its peculiar design featuring three sharp turns squeezed into a single stretch. This post followed the viral discussion about a controversial railway overbridge with a 90-degree curve in Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal.
In a playful jab at the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-BJP ruling alliance, the Congress Kerala post read: 'Bhopal made a 90° flyover. Andhra: 'Hold my chai.''
According to the comments section, the bridge is located on State Highway 57 (SH 57) near a place called Vasudevapuram.

The post quickly gained traction, racking up over seven lakh views and sparking plenty of amused reactions.

Meanwhile, a curious user asked, 'Why can't it be connected to the other side in a curved manner? Any technical reason?'

The Congress's post has come even as the internet was still busy roasting Bhopal's railway overbridge for its bizarre 90-degree curve.
A newly built railway overbridge near Aishbagh Stadium in Bhopal stirred controversy just as it neared completion — not over delays or budget issues, but over what many believed was a major design flaw. The sharp, almost 90-degree turn right after the ascent raised serious safety concerns. While Congress criticised the design online, Madhya Pradesh PWD Minister Rakesh Singh dismissed their claims as politically driven but assured a review. The Rs 18-crore bridge was meant to ease traffic for nearly three lakh daily commuters in the area.

Moong & urad to be procured at MSP in state, says CM Yadav
Bhopal: The state govt has decided to procure moong and urad at minimum support price (MSP) in the interest of farmers. Moong will be procured at Rs 8,682 per quintal in 36 moong-producing districts, while urad will be procured at Rs 7,400 per quintal in 13 urad-producing districts, announced chief minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday. Farmers can register for procurement from June 19 to July 6, and procurement will take place from July 7 to Aug 6. The chief minister also noted that Madhya Pradesh witnessed a 19.6% increase in tourism within a year. In 2024, a total of 13.41 crore tourists visited the state, which is 19.6% higher compared to 2023. This included 1.67 lakh foreign tourists. He remarked that Madhya Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a leading state in tourism. He directed the ministers to review welfare schemes being run by their respective departments and to share suggestions to make these initiatives more effective.

Cabinet approves promotion for govt employees after 9 yrs
Bhopal: The state cabinet, headed by chief minister Mohan Yadav, on Tuesday approved the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Promotion Rules, 2025, ensuring the representation and protection of interests of the reserved categories. After nine years, the state govt on Tuesday opened the doors for the promotion of govt employees. Briefing the media after the cabinet meeting, the minister for urban administration, Kailash Vijayvargiya, said, "In the last nine years, there were many hindrances in the way of promotion of state govt employees. This time, we found a way for giving promotions." He further stated, "With promotions, the lower rank posts will get vacant, making way for fresh recruitments." He mentioned that the govt has taken all precautions to maintain and respect the high court and other court orders, so that there are no legal complications with the promotions. Provisions have been made to include 20% reservation for scheduled tribes (ST) and 16% for scheduled castes (SC). SC and ST public servants will also have the opportunity for promotion based on merit, the minister said. A state govt release explained, "Departmental Promotion Committees may meet in the current year to prepare selection lists for the next year's vacancies. Due weightage will be given to seniority, and among senior officials, those obtaining the minimum qualifying marks will be eligible for promotion. For Class I officers, a merit-cum-seniority principle will apply." For Class IV employees, there will be no marks system; they will be promoted solely based on suitability. Even partial service in a year will be considered as full qualifying service. Provisions have also been made to allow promotion against posts vacated by officers on deputation who will not be available in the promotion year. The rules ensure that posts available on a particular day are filled, based on merit and representation of reserved categories. Approximately 2 lakh new posts will be created with the promotions, leading to enhanced administrative efficiency and effectiveness. In another decision, the cabinet approved the establishment, operation, and construction of 459 new anganwadi centres in special tribal areas under the PM-JANMAN (Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Nagarik Mahaabhiyan) scheme. Approval was also given to create 459 honorary posts for anganwadi workers, another 459 posts for anganwadi helpers, and 26 regular supervisory posts. E xpenditure on the scheme from fiscal year 2025–26 to 2030–31 will be made as per the approval received by the Centre. The total estimated cost of implementation is Rs 143.46 crore, of which the Central share will be Rs 72.78 crore and the state's share Rs 70.68 crore. The cabinet also approved a total estimated expenditure of Rs 5,163 crores for ongoing and upcoming capital projects of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited (MPPTCL) for the period 2025–26 to 2029–30. The funding will comprise 20% equity from the state govt and 80% as loans from financial institutions and banks. Key allocations include Rs 1,154 crores for construction and upgradation of transmission systems approved by the central transmission unit, Rs 185 crores for power infrastructure for Simhastha–2028, Rs 1,015 crores for construction of new extra-high-voltage substations, Rs 54 crores for new EHV (Extra High Voltage) lines for uninterrupted power to Morena Division HQ and northern Gwalior, and Rs 1,280 crores for capacity enhancement of existing EHV transformers. In yet another decision, the cabinet approved the establishment of district treasuries in the newly formed districts of Pandhurna, Maihar, and Mauganj.

Delays in Goa road projects could cost Centre crores
Panaji: Over the past few years, bridge and road projects worth over Rs 14,000 crore have been funded by the Union ministry of road transport and highways in Goa. However, some of these infrastructure projects could soon cause losses to the ministry running into hundreds of crores. Contractors of three major projects have already gone in for arbitration in three separate cases, claiming that losses of Rs 300 to Rs 500 crore each have been caused to them due to delay in the projects, sources said. The contractors have said that the delays in the project execution occurred because Goa govt was unable to complete land acquisition for the road or bridge works within the required time. 'Three separate cases are already in the process of arbitration for road and bridge stretches in Cortalim, Mormugao, and Salcete. A fourth contractor is also in the process of taking the same route for work carried out in Pernem. The contractors have said that delays in land acquisition and changes to scope of work caused due to protests have caused them losses of around Rs 400 crore each,' said the source. The contractors have said that their machinery lying idle due to the delay in the works are some of the causes for the losses to them.
