Last Updated: Rakesh Singh stressed that every child has unique talents and specially congratulated parents whose children didn't succeed this time, encouraging hope for the future The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently declared its results, sparking mixed reactions from students and parents—some celebrated success, while others faced disappointment. In the midst of this, a heartening example was set by Rakesh Singh, Aligarh's Basic Education Officer. He publicly praised his son, Rishi Singh, for securing 60% in his intermediate exams, encouraging other parents to support their children regardless of their marks. Rakesh Singh's post on social media, sharing Rishi's marksheet, quickly gained attention for its uplifting message. His son achieved 60% in the CBSE 12th examination, and rather than expressing disappointment, Singh celebrated his son's effort and urged other parents to foster a positive outlook in their children. Singh's message was shared over 230 times on the X platform. In his post, Rakesh Singh wrote that life can be started anew at any time. He congratulated his son on passing the intermediate examination with 60% marks. — Rakesh singh BSA Aligarh (@bsa_aligarh72) May 13, 2025 Singh recalled a conversation with his son, who asked if he was upset about the average marks. Singh replied that he wasn't angry, in fact, he was as happy as the day he landed his first government job. Singh shared his own academic journey, revealing that he had scored just 52% in graduation, 60% in high school, and 75% in intermediate. He reassured parents whose children didn't score well or failed that there's no need for disappointment or panic—life offers many second chances. Through determination and hard work, Singh gained admission to Allahabad University and eventually secured 80% in history in the Public Service Commission exams. Singh emphasised that every child has unique talents and offered special congratulations to parents whose children didn't succeed this time. He reminded them that every child is a valuable creation of the universe, with the potential to grow, learn, and excel in the future. Rishi Singh scored 66 in English, 62 in Geography, 70 in Physical Education, 53 in Political Science, and 50 in History in the CBSE Class 12 exams. He aspires to become a lawyer and is currently awaiting counselling for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). First Published:

Father's morale-boosting message wins hearts after son's 60% CBSE result

: Success in examinations is temporary but the parental encouragement necessary to instill the courage to face various challenges posed by life can be permanent. Whether a child scores 90%, 60% or even less, it necessary for parents to shun the path of panic, rebuke and scorn and, instead, deliver a morale-boosting message to their wards: 'We can start life from anywhere, anytime.' This is the sum and substance of a heart-warming and eye-catching message posted by an education official whose son passed the CBSE Class 12 exam with 60% marks. Aligarh basic education officer Rakesh Singh also posted his son Rishi Singh's marksheet. His post has been reposted by 230 X users. '... all the parents should encourage their children to pass the examinations which life will throw before them every now and then as they move out of the protective boundary of their schools and step into colleges to pursue their higher studies that will define their personality and character,' Rakesh Singh wrote on X. His post read: 'My son Rishi has passed his intermediate examination with 60% marks, many congratulations and best wishes son.' Delving into the thought behind his post, Rakesh Singh wrote, 'As soon as I posted his marksheet on social media, my son asked, 'Papa, are you not angry that I have got such average marks?' I told him 'no, I am not angry, rather I am as happy today as I would have never been on my selection in government services'.' 'Because you obtained 60% marks, I had only 52% marks in graduation, 60% in high school and 75% in intermediate. Those children who have got low marks or could not pass, their parents need not be disappointed and panic. We can start life from anywhere, anytime. I completed my intermediate and went to give the entrance test for graduation. I got admission in Allahabad University. As a boy, I did not know the ABC of history, yet scored 80% marks in history in 2000 in the Public Service Commission. I proved it, because of my determination.' 'Talent is present in every child,' he further wrote. '… I want to specially congratulate the parents of those children who have not achieved success. Remember your child is a precious creation of this universe, he will definitely grow up some day and do well...' Rakesh Singh's post read. A retired basic education officer, Lalita Pradeep, wrote: 'It is inspiring to see your journey. Plz convey my good wishes to your son. Children learn from parents the basic values of life. I'm sure guardians will find it inspiring.' Rishi Singh obtained 66 in English (core), 62 in geography, 70 in physical education, 53 in political science and 50 in history. He wants to become a lawyer and is waiting for counselling for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) to begin.

Aditya Birla Capital Ltd (NSE:ABCAPITAL) reported a 24% sequential growth in consolidated profit after tax, excluding one-off items, reaching INR 865 crore. The company's NBFC business saw a 28% sequential increase in disbursements, with a 20% year-on-year growth in the portfolio. The housing finance business achieved a 69% year-on-year growth in AUM, with significant improvements in asset quality. The asset management business experienced a 15% year-on-year growth in mutual fund average AUM, with a 19% increase in profit after tax. The life insurance business reported a 34% year-on-year growth in individual first-year premium, maintaining a healthy VNB margin of 18%. The economic environment remains volatile due to geopolitical tensions and recent tariff measures, posing uncertainty for growth. NBFC margins remain under pressure despite growth, with concerns about the sustainability of interest income. There is a noted increase in NPAs in the unsecured business loan segment, particularly in government-guaranteed portions. The unsecured personal loan segment has seen a decline in share from 17% to 12%, reflecting cautious lending practices. The company's reliance on bank borrowings, which are largely linked to MCLR, may delay the benefit of recent rate cuts. Q: Can you explain the current state of NBFC margins and what factors are influencing them? A: Rakesh Singh, Managing Director and CEO of Aditya Birla Finance Limited, explained that the margins have been stable at 12.9% for Q3 and Q4, with a slight expansion from 6% to 6.07%. The change in product mix, particularly the reduction in personal and consumer loans from 20% to 12-13% of the loan book, has impacted yields. However, as this segment stabilizes and grows, margins are expected to expand. Q: What is causing the high NPA ratio in the unsecured business loan segment, especially those guaranteed by the government? A: Rakesh Singh noted that the unsecured segment includes supply chain business and term loans. The elevated NPA levels are due to the segment not being written off at 180 days because of government guarantees. The company has tightened underwriting and expects improvement as recalibration efforts take effect. Q: How does Aditya Birla Capital plan to achieve its growth targets for the NBFC business over the next three years? A: Rakesh Singh stated that the company aims to double its loan book by leveraging existing branches, digital assets, and platforms like the ABCD app and Udyog Plus. The focus will be on improving productivity and expanding the product range slightly, while maintaining a balanced product mix. Q: What are the expected drivers for improving ROA in the housing finance business over the next 8 to 10 quarters? A: Pankaj Gadgil, Managing Director and CEO of Aditya Birla Housing Finance Limited, explained that the improvement in ROA will primarily come from operating leverage, with a reduction in OpEx to average loan book ratio by 100 to 130 basis points. Credit costs are expected to remain stable, and NIMs may slightly decrease, but overall, a net improvement in ROA is anticipated. Q: How is the company managing its funding mix, and what impact will recent rate cuts have on cost of funds? A: Rakesh Singh mentioned that most bank borrowings are linked to 3-month and 1-month MCLR, with a small portion linked to repo rates. The company expects to benefit from rate cuts over time, with improvements in borrowing mix and cost reductions from short-term borrowings. Q: What are the benefits of the merger with the holding company for Aditya Birla Capital? A: Vijay Deshwal, Chief Strategy Officer & Head - Investor Relations, highlighted that the merger provides better access to capital and releases approximately INR 3,000 to 3,500 crore worth of capital, supporting growth requirements for 1 to 1.5 years. The unified NBFC structure also enhances operational efficiency. Q: Can you provide insights into the performance and future plans for the ABCD app? A: Pankaj Gadgil noted that the app has onboarded a significant number of customers and contributes to personal loan origination. The company plans to expand its offerings to include more products and services, with detailed metrics to be shared in future quarters. Q: What factors contributed to the positive operating variance and assumption change variance in the life insurance business? A: Kamlesh Rao, Managing Director and CEO of Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance Company Limited, explained that better experience in lapses and group business profit contributed to positive operating variance. Assumption changes were driven by improved persistency and mortality experience, contributing to margin expansion.
