Washington [US], May 27 (ANI): The 2025 American Music Awards made a glittering return to television after a two-year hiatus, with a grand celebration at the Fontainebleau Resort in Las Vegas.
In a night filled with electrifying performances and emotional tributes, it was Billie Eilish who stole the show, winning in every category she was nominated for, a stunning seven-for-seven sweep.
Eilish, already a nine-time Grammy and two-time Academy Award winner, added multiple AMA titles to her name, including the coveted Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, and Song of the Year for Birds of a Feather.
She also secured wins for Favorite Female Pop Artist, Favorite Pop Album, and Favorite Touring Artist, among others.
The AMAs, the largest fan-voted music awards in the world, also introduced new categories this year, including Song of the Year and Social Song of the Year, the latter claimed by Doechii for her viral track 'Anxiety', as per Deadline.
Despite leading the pack with 10 nominations, rapper Kendrick Lamar walked away with just one win, Favorite Hip-Hop Song for his breakout hit 'Not Like Us'.
The ceremony featured show-stopping sets from artists including Blake Shelton, Gloria Estefan, Gwen Stefani, Benson Boone, Lainey Wilson, and Renee Rapp.
Music legend Janet Jackson was honoured with the Icon Award, recognising her enduring influence and career spanning decades.
Rod Stewart received the Lifetime Achievement Award, delivering a high-energy finale to close out the evening, as per Deadline.
The night was hosted by Jennifer Lopez, who doubled as the opening performer.

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], June 2 (ANI): Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited Kalinga Studio in Bhubaneswar to review its renovation progress on Sunday. Odisha's iconic Kalinga Studio is undergoing a massive transformation and is currently in its final phase. CM Mohan Charan Manjhi claims that around 90-95 % of the renovation work has been completed. In a media interaction, after paying a visit to the under-construction Kalinga Studio on Sunday, CM Mohan Charan Manjhi said, 'A few days ago, members of the Cine Arts Association met with me and requested to visit Kalinga Studio. Kalinga Studio has been modernised as per industry standards, with 90-95% of work completed. Renovation began in 2021-22, when I was the Chief Whip of the Opposition.' He further highlighted the Cine Arts Association's demands for 'additional infrastructure' in the Kalinga film studio, which includes a police station, a village, a hospital, a temple and a court. As per the Odisha CM, the inauguration of the iconic Kalinga Studio is set to be held soon, which will be followed by a 'detailed planning' for film shooting in the next phase. 'The Cine Arts Association has proposed additional infrastructure such as a police station, a village, a hospital, a temple, and a court. I have directed the department to prepare a new DPR and fulfil these demands to develop Kalinga Studio into a full-fledged film city. Today, I reviewed the progress and instructed on early completion. Inauguration will be held soon, and detailed planning for film shooting will follow in the next phase,' said Odisha CM. As per the Industries Department of Odisha, Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC) had submitted estimates for Rs 2.13 crores for the construction/renovation/modification of the developmental works. The renovation work include the repairing of Compound Wall, grading of Green Room (Make-up rooms), renovation of cottages, supply of water to different areas of the studio, repairing of Transformer, construction of pump house as well as overhead tank, repairing of indoor shooting floor, renovation and beautification of lawns and gardens, construction of slums / bastis, pindis and bhagabattungi etc. inside the studio premises for use by the film makers. Guwahati (Assam) [India], June 2 (ANI): People of Assam, particularly those in the Karbi Anglong district, had reason to celebrate as 9-year-old dance sensation Binita Chetry returned home after clinching third place in the globally acclaimed talent show, Britain's Got Talent. Her extraordinary achievement marked her as the first person from Asia to earn a podium finish in the competition's history. Binita, who has been learning dance since the age of three, was greeted with applause, flowers, and admiration. Among those who welcomed her home was Prem Tamang, Chairman of the Gorkha Development Council, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to her and her supporters. The young dancer hails from the autonomous council region of Karbi Anglong. Her father, Amar Chetry, beamed with pride as he shared her story. "She has been learning dance since she was three years old... She participated in reality shows in Mumbai and in the South. Now she's the second runner-up in Britain's Got Talent. This is not just an achievement for our family but for the whole country," he said. "Thanks to everyone's love and support, she has reached this global stage." Reflecting on her experience, Binita said, "It was a great experience because all the judges were very happy with me. They gave me very good comments, especially Bruno Sir and Simon Sir. They said they had never seen such a performance before." Her dance journey began with lessons from her aunt. She gained early exposure through Indian dance reality shows like 'Super Dancer 4' and 'Dance Deewane Junior', followed by formal training under choreographer Hardik Rawat in Jaipur. She eventually won Dance Icon Season 2, which paved the way for her participation in Britain's Got Talent. Despite her growing fame, Binita continues to manage her academics. Currently in the fifth grade, she shared, "Sometimes, it is difficult but I manage it." Overwhelmed with emotion, Binita extended her gratitude to her family and well-wishers. "Thank you so much to my parents and everyone who supported me since childhood. Thanks to them, I was able to represent India on such a big stage," she said. She also thanked Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his support. In a message to the people of Assam and her international audience, Binita said, "Thank you, everyone. Though voting was only open in London, people from all over supported me. I got so much love from London and other parts of the world." While she hasn't made concrete plans for her future yet, the young talent remains focused on refining her skills. "I just want to improve my dancing and become better," she said. (ANI)

Washington DC [US], June 2 (ANI): American TV actor Devin Harjes best known for his roles in 'Boardwalk Empire,' 'Daredevil' and 'Gotham,' passed away at the age of 41 years, reported People. Harjes passed away on May 27, as confirmed by his obituary posted on his website. As per People, the actor died after complications from cancer at Mount Sinai West Hospital in New York City. He was diagnosed with cancer last winter. The actor played boxing legend Jack Dempsey across two episodes of 'Boardwalk Empire' Season 2. He also had a nine-episode arch on the Netflix popular sci-fi drama 'Manifest' where he played Pete Baylor, a member of a drug posse known as the Meth Heads. In 'Daredevil,' the actor played Oscar, a Rikers Island Nurse. Whereas in 'Gotham,' Harjes played a bank guard named Clyde. His other TV credits include 'Blue Bloods,' 'Orange Is the New Black,' 'Elementary' and 'FBI.' As per the obituary of the actor posted on his website, Harjes was born in Lubbock, Texas, in July 1983. Harjes' first love was for the care of animals, specifically horses. But he would leave that all behind to launch his acting career in the Dallas-Fort Worth theatre community. The actor then made his way to New York City, where he lent his talents to student films and off-Broadway shows. After honing his skills, the actor landed in the world of independent cinema, starring in films like 'The Forest is Red,' which won him best actor at Italy's Tolentino International Film Festival, and 'The Boyz of Summer.' The obituary states that outside of acting, Harjes "was a dedicated student of martial arts and a regular at the gym--he often joked it was safer than getting kicked in the face by a horse." Harjes is survived by his parents, Randy and Rosanne Harjes, and his sister Trich Harjes. (ANI)
