With this, she is now officially the fourth Bollywood actress to walk the red carpet–decked stairs of Manhattan's Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. The mom-to-be arrived at the Met Gala 2025 flaunting her baby bump publicly for the first time, dressed in none other than Indian designer Gaurav Gupta. Gupta has carved a name for himself as one of the world's most sought-after designers, having dressed international stars like Beyoncé, Mindy Kaling, Ashley Park, Kim Kardashian, Mariah Carey, Shakira, Katy Perry, and many more. Speaking about her look, a tribute to motherhood and the Gala's theme, Kiara said, 'Making my Met Gala debut at this point in my life, as both an artist and mother-to-be feels incredibly special. When my stylist, Anaita, approached Gaurav to design my look, he created 'Bravehearts', a vision that honours the transformative phase I'm stepping into connecting it beautifully to this year's dress code 'Tailored for You.' Inspired by the legacy of André Leon Talley, we reflected on what it means to show up with intention, individuality, and strength. This is a silent tribute to that — it's a reminder that everything we do paves the way for the next generation.'

Gupta, who hones the skill of sculptural detailing and turns pastel tones into couture laced with celestial storytelling, has done his magic again. Known for infusing a futuristic edge into his silhouettes, Gupta's work feels just right for Kiara, who's expecting her first child with Sidharth Malhotra. The actor has earlier rocked a few masterpieces from Gupta's shelves, like the Sculpted Long Trail Saree Gown and Leggings, but dressing her in what is clearly her most beautiful era yet was a whole new challenge. One that the designer pulled off with absolute grace, and a healthy dose of dandyism. Kiara is walking alongside other Bollywood icons like SRK, Priyanka Chopra, and singer Diljit Dosanjh. Alia Bhatt, who walked at the gala twice (in Prabal Gurung and Sabyasachi), has skipped this year, while Deepika Padukone is also missing from the red carpet.

A day earlier, both Sidharth and Kiara teased their arrival in the Big Apple. The Shershaah actor was seen hitting the gym after sharing a glimpse of his hotel's view. Later, he attended the Broadway show Death Becomes Her: The Musical, which recently swept nominations at the Tony Awards. Meanwhile, Kiara, upon her arrival, gave fans a peek into her hotel room, a table filled with pink roses, a mannequin-shaped cake dressed in a black gown (probably teasing her look for the night), an picture of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, a booklet titled The MET Gala, early chocolates, and so on.
The couple announced their pregnancy in February 2025. In a joint statement posted on their Instagram, they wrote, 'The greatest gift of our lives,' alongside the baby's tiny knitted socks. This year, the Met Gala is taking place on May 6, 2025. Actor Colman Domingo, Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton, rapper A$AP Rocky, and singer Pharrell Williams are serving as the co-chairs of the gala alongside Anna Wintour, with NBA player LeBron James also joining as the honorary chair. The exhibition, with the theme 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,' will roll out in October 2025.
