Education foundation of developed society: Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel

India Gazette27-06-2025
Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], June 27 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel stated that education is the foundational pillar of a developed society and a progressive state. He emphasised that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always given special importance to schools, teachers, and education.
On the second day of the Kanya Kelavani Mahotsav and Shala Praveshotsav 2025, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Beej, Chief Minister Patel visited the Primary School in Pundrasan village, Gandhinagar district. He welcomed 197 children into the school by gifting them educational kits. The Chief Minister also interacted affectionately with the young children, encouraging them to pursue learning with enthusiasm, said release.
CM highlighted that to raise awareness about the importance and necessity of education and to build an educated future generation in Gujarat, Prime Minister Modi launched the statewide Shala Praveshotsav initiative in 2003. As a result of this sustained effort, parents and communities today have come to deeply understand and value the role of education.
The Chief Minister stated that the Gujarat Government has launched several education-focused schemes to ensure no child is deprived of schooling due to financial challenges. He urged parents to utilise these schemes and take responsibility for their children's education. He noted that government schools are now equipped with modern facilities, such as smart classrooms, and that improved teaching methods have led many students to shift from private to government schools. The Chief Minister also highlighted that communities are actively working to promote education, with the state government extending full support to such efforts.
The Chief Minister emphasised that teachers and School Management Committees (SMCs) should work with dedication and thoughtful planning to transform their village schools into model institutions by enhancing the quality of education. He also urged parents to ensure that their children attend school regularly and to provide active support for their learning. He stated that these children represent the future generation of Gujarat and will play a vital role in building a Viksit Bharat through a Viksit Gujarat.
Chief Minister Patel welcomed 197 children into school at Pundrasan Primary School, including 53 from Anganwadi, 54 from Balvatika, 48 from Class 1, and 42 from Classes 8-9. He also felicitated nine outstanding students for their excellence at various levels. 'Can you say it's criminal to love?': SC bats for distinction of rape from 'genuine' romance

The Supreme Court on Tuesday underlined the need to distinguish between rape and genuine romantic cases involving youngsters on the verge of majority. The bench observed that the police would look into the matters to ascertain whether it was a case of kidnapping, trafficking or whether it was a case of genuine love.(ANI) A bench of Justices B V Nagarathna and R Mahadevan noted the existence of co-education institutions and universities and said, "Now, they develop feelings for each other. Can you say it is criminal to love? We have to keep a distinction between a criminal act like rape, etc., from this." The observations came on a petition raising the question whether or not the age of consent, which is 18 years, should be reduced to 16 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. "When there are genuine romantic cases, they like each other and they want to get married... Don't treat such cases the same as criminal cases," the bench said. The bench went on, "You have to keep the reality of society in mind." The top court referred to the trauma such couples face, generally owing to the male partner being sent to jail by the parents of the girl after filing a case under the POCSO Act. "This is the harsh reality in society," the bench said, noting cases under the POCSO Act were also filed to cover up elopements. Senior advocate H S Phoolka, appearing for the petitioner organisation, called for safeguards. The bench observed that the police would look into the matters to ascertain whether it was a case of kidnapping, trafficking or whether it was a case of genuine love. Phoolka said a similar issue concerning the age of consent was being considered by another bench of the apex court. The bench posted the matter for August 26 after Phoolka said he would place on record some top court orders in the context of the prayers sought for in the petition. Recently, the Centre defended in the apex court the statutory age of consent of 18 years, saying the decision was a "deliberate, well-considered, and coherent" policy choice aimed at shielding minors from sexual exploitation. The Centre said diluting the age of consent or introducing exceptions under the guise of adolescent romance would be not only legally unsound but also dangerous. The written submissions was filed in a separate case which raises the point of age in adolescent relationships.

Pallavi Joshi breaks silence on 'The Bengal Files' trailer launch not allowed in Kolkata: 'Such a thing did not happen even in Kashmir'

After political intervention played a spoilsport at the trailer launch of The Bengal Files, as the Bengal government reportedly attempted to stall the event, producer, actress, and filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri's wife, Pallavi Joshi, said, 'Such a thing did not happen even in Kashmir.' 'I absolutely did not like the way my film (trailer) was stopped. Is there freedom of expression in this state? As filmmakers and actors, we are not able to screen what we have made. What is the threat they are feeling? Such a thing did not happen even in Kashmir. Can we derive that the situation in Kashmir is better than in Bengal? See what is happening in Bengal today. And this is why films like 'The Bengal Files' are important. I want every person in India to watch this film to know the truth about Bengal. It is the state's responsibility to give respect to artists…' said Joshi while talking to ANI. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'Please bear with us..I mean, all this happened with the permissions and approvals, and now, at the last minute, they are saying that they have got some instructions that we cannot play (trailer)…Please sit can see what is happening it seems there are two constitutions in Indian constitution and one special constitution that runs here…' said Agnihotri during the event at ITC Royal Bengal, when the trailer was suddenly stopped. 'If this is not dictatorship/fascism, then what is?…Law and order in your state has failed, and this is the reason that everyone supports 'The Bengal Files'…' 'I have just got to know what some people came here (event venue in a private hotel) and cut all the wires. I don't know on whose orders this is happening? You know who those people are behind us. After all tests and trials, this program was being held. The hotel managers still can't tell us why we are not allowed to continue with our program..,' he added. Speaking to ANI, Agnihotri shared why he chose August 16 to launch the trailer and shared, 'Mai America se aaya aur seedhe Kolkata pahucha kyunki trailer launch tha and movie trailers are generally launched in theatres; however, when I reached the airport, I came to know that one of the largest multiplex chains said that they can't do it because there is a lot of political pressure and if they do it, there will be a political turmoil. So we spoke to another multiplex, they also said that 'sorry sir', there is a lot of political pressure, we can't do it'. If we had known this from the start, why would we have taken on so many teams and actors and spent so much money to come here..' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'Aur Direct Action Day,.. Hindu genocide, Murshidabad riots suki film ka trailer kahan launch hona chahiye, Kolkata mein hi hona mai bhi harne vaalon se nahi aisa pehli baar ho raha hai mera ye andaaz hai ki film ka trailer theatre ki jagah hotel ke banquet hall mai janna chahta hu hamari awaaz dabane ki koshish kyu ho rahi hai..(And where should the trailer of the film dealing with Direct Action Day, Hindu genocide, Murshidabad riots, be launched.. It should be launched in Kolkata only, but I'm not one of the losers, so this is happening for the first time, I guess that the trailer of the film is being launched in the banquet hall of a hotel instead of a hamari awaaz ko dabane ki koshish kyu ki ja rahi hai (but I want to know why efforts are being made to suppress our voice..), he added.
