Samsung has a crack at ye olde glasses-free 3D monitor thing but its new cheaper 49-inch ultrawide OLED is far more interesting
Samsung has announced a slew of new gaming monitors and on paper, the big news is a glasses-free 3D model. However, it's a new lower-cost version of Samsung's 49-inch ultrawide OLED that could be most interesting in the real world.
The Odyssey 3D G90XF is a 27-inch 4K model with, "advanced eye-tracking technology and a proprietary lenticular lens deliver a natural-looking high-definition 3D image." The combination of eye-tracking and lenticular lenses to enable glasses-free 3D is not entirely new.
Lenovo announced something essentially identical back in 2023. Indeed, our own Jacob experienced a Samsung prototype over a year ago and came away impressed. And yet, 3D displays never seem to take off.
Admittedly, most attempts in the past, including Nvidia's 3D Vision, involved glasses which typically prove quite the impediment to adoption. So, could this glasses-free version take off?
Jacob only had five minutes with the concept display, but said, "It delivers a genuinely decent 3D image." One catch is that it requires an Nvidia RTX GPU with Samsung recommending RTX 3080 at minimum. But then this is not a cheap monitor.
For the record, this is an LCD monitor, not OLED, and thus has claimed 1 ms response. The refresh rate is 165 Hz. Samsung hasn't released an official price. But it is listed on Samsung's South Korean pre-order page at a price that converts to around $1,575. Ouch.
With that in mind, it could be the new Odyssey G9 G91F that's more interesting. In most regards it's familiar and similar to the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 G93SC we reviewed way back in 2023. So, it's a huge 49-inch 5,120 by 1,440 OLED.
Except instead of 240 Hz refresh, it's 144 Hz and designed to allow, "more gamers to experience curved ultrawide gaming." In other words, it's cheaper. Again, Samsung hasn't listed a price. But it's on that South Korean pre-order website for a price that converts to $850. That's about half the original launch price of the G93SC.
What's more, Samsung monitors tend to slip under their MSRPs pretty quickly. So the G91F could dip below $800 in fairly short order. Fingers crossed.
Samsung also announced refreshed versions of its 4K OLEDs in 27-inch and 32-inch variants, rather oddly claiming "industry first" implementation of 240 Hz 4K technology, something that's been widely available for years.
Anyway, the 32-inch version seems to be priced at around $1,100, with the 27-inch option not yet listed. We'll keep an eye out for US and UK availability of all of those new monitors.

Samsung's budget Galaxy Buds 3 FE give you AirPods-like design and a battery bonus
Samsung has expanded its Galaxy Buds lineup with the 'Fan Edition' Galaxy Buds 3 FE, finally delivering a more affordable earbud alongside the existing Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro models it released in July 2024. Like its family members, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE commit to the move away from the circular earbud shape of Samsung earbuds of old to the familiar, AirPods-like 'stem' one, which Samsung calls its 'Blade' design. This can be pinched to make playback selections or swiped to adjust the volume. Recommended Videos Alternatively, you can go hands-free courtesy of Google Gemini integration – saying phrases like 'Hey Google' when you're wearing the earbuds can initiate voice playback controls, and when paired with a Galaxy phone there's the option of sending messages and checking emails via voice activation. Using the Galaxy AI Interpreter app, real-time translation can also be fed to the earbuds to facilitate conversations with someone speaking in another language. Neat. The Blade design isn't the only notable aspect of the new Samsung buds' physical design, either; the Buds3 FE have been blessed with an IP54 waterproof rating, making them suitable for wearing during sweaty workouts or out in rainy weather. Promising performance upgrades Like their 2023-released Galaxy Buds FE predecessor, the new Samsung budget earbuds have active noise cancellation onboard, only this time it has been improved to reduce ambient noise and therefore increase its effectiveness to isolate you and your music or voice calls. They also sport a larger driver than the previous-gen buds for supposedly 'rich, powerful sound with deep bass and clear treble', which bodes well for the new FEs considering we called the originals 'clear, full-frequency sound signature, with a generous soundstage'. Perhaps unsurprisingly considering their modest price point, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE settle for Samsung's SSC Bluetooth codec alongside the 'vanilla' AAC and SBC. While the higher-quality aptX and LDAC codec can be found in similarly affordable wireless earbuds such as our favorites, the Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 NC, which supports the latter codec, their absence is hardly a deal-breaker at this price. One thing that does thoroughly impress at this price level is the Galaxy Buds 3 FE's battery life – you get 8.5 hours in the buds (or 6 hours with ANC on) and an extra 24 hours of juice in the charging case (or 30 hours with ANC on). Plenty of much pricier earbuds don't manage those numbers (as you can see in our best wireless earbuds guide) – including Samsung's flagship Buds 3 Pro, which have a maximum on-bud battery life of seven hours. Available in black or gray, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 FE will become available in the US on September 4, priced at $150, with availability in other territories to follow.

Samsung's New Galaxy Buds 3 FE Cost $100 Less Than the Flagship Galaxy Buds 3 Pro
Samsung's $250 flagship Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are among the top noise-canceling earbuds. Now Samsung has launched the more affordable "fan edition"Galaxy Buds 3 FE that look nearly identical to the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro but are missing those buds' LED lighting element, have a single-driver design instead of a dual-driver design and leave off a few other features. They're available on Sept. 4 in black or gray. Read more: Best wireless earbuds of 2025 Like the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE have a noise-isolating design with silicone ear tips, and they feature noise-canceling as well as a transparency mode. Samsung is touting their AI features, which include "accessing Gemini for conversational AI assistance and Galaxy AI Interpreter app to use Real-Time Interpreter or Live Translate to translate phone calls." The Galaxy Buds 3 FE's "blade" design is a departure from the early Galaxy Buds FE ($70), which have a stemless design with wing tips that help lock the buds in your ears. Enlarge Image The buds in gray. Screenshot by David Carnoy/CNET Since I haven't tried the Galaxy Buds 3 FE yet I can't tell you how much their performance differs from the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro's, but I suspect there will be a slight drop off in sound quality due to the fact that the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro have a planar driver alongside a dynamic driver that helps improve clarity and treble performance. The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are regularly on sale (you can get the Latin American version for $125 on Amazon) and Samsung says you can trade-in any wired or wireless headset and receive up to $30 off the Galaxy Buds 3 FE. So they, too should be regularly discounted and perhaps dip to around $100 during the holiday buying season. I'll let you know how they compare to the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and other earbuds in their price range as soon as I get my hands on a review sample. For now, here are the Galaxy Buds3 FE's key specs: Samsung Galaxy Buds3 FE key specs

Time Is Running Out to Save $300 on the New Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7
The next generation of foldable phones give you all the portability of a mobile phone with the screen size of a tablet. The Galaxy Z Fold line from Samsung is generally considered to be one of the best available, and the latest model -- the Z Fold 7 -- is currently on sale with the biggest direct discount we've seen since its release. Right now, Amazon has a limited time offer of $300 off the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 256GB phone. Available in any of the three colorways (blue, silver or black), this drops the price down from $2,000 to $1,700. Samsung's unique foldable phones had a bit of an awkward adolescence, but after getting her hands on the new lineup, CNET reviewer Abrar Al-Heet confirms that the latest Z Fold 7 "just feels right." For one, it's incredibly sleek at just 8.9mm thick when closed or 4.2mm thick when open, which is so thin you may even forget that it's a foldable. Despite weighing in at just 215 grams, this new foldable features some serious hardware. It's got a 6.5-inch cover screen and an 8-inch interior display with a fluid 120Hz refresh rate. It's equipped with a cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and 12GB of RAM to support tons of helpful AI features and functions, and comes with Android 16 and Samsung One UI 8 right out of the box. The camera system is also pretty impressive, boasting a 200MP rear camera, 12MP ultrawide shooting and a 10MP front camera on both the cover and interior screens. Plus, it's equipped with a 4,400-mAh battery for all-day use. Why this deal matters With an unbelievably sleek design and some cutting-edge hardware, the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is one of the most advanced phones on the market. Unfortunately, it also comes with a staggering $2,000 price tag. If you're hoping to get your hands on one, this $300 discount is a way to rack up some serious savings and help cushion the blow of its considerable cost.
