'We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the great MORE vocalist Paul Mario Day," they wrote on social media.
"Paul was a huge part of the [New Wave of British Heavy Metal] from his time in an early version of Iron Maiden and of course his fantastic performance on the 'Warhead' album.'
'He was a well loved figure in British rock music and played many memorable shows not least the legendary 1981 Monsters of Rock show at Castle Donington with AC/DC, Whitesnake/David Coverdale as well as tours with Iron Maiden Def Leppard and many other legendary artists.
"Mike Freeland remembers him fondly as a 'bloody great vocalist!'
"It's an honour for us to continue to play his music and we will always think of him every time we hit the opening notes to 'Warhead'.
"We send our deepest condolences to Paul's family and friends and also the many fans around the world who love his music.
"Play his music loud and sing along!
"Thank you. Rock in peace Paul."
Paul Mario Day was recruited by bassist Steve Harris when he formed Iron Maiden in 1975.
Day was the band's first singer, and stayed with the band between 1975 and 1976 before being replaced by Dennis Wilcock.
Ozzy Osbourne funeral plans revealed
Paul Di'Anno later took over from Wilcock, who would perform on the band's first two records.
Speaking to Blabbermouth in 2019, Day said of his Iron Maiden exit: 'Steve was saying, 'You've got to get better. You've got to be more in the audience's face. You've got to be commanding.
"You've got to be a hero.' And I agreed with him, but I didn't actually know how to make that happen."
The singer said he was "gutted" by the decision but he "learnt a big lesson".
He added: "What Steve was doing was trying to make the band big. He knew what he wanted.
"What he wanted is what he got. He got one of the biggest bands on the planet. As much as it hurt, as much as it upset me, I learnt a big lesson that day. I really did. I used that emotion, I guess, in my singing.'
Day never returned to the band for any of their reunions and focused on performing with More.
The group skyrocketed to fame with their 1981 album Warhead and went on to perform at the 1981 Monsters Of Rock festival with fellow rock legends including AC/DC, Def Leppard, and Whitestnake.
Day also became the frontman for Wildfire between 1983 and 1984.
The following year he stepped in to sing for Sweet and band guitarist Andy Scott wrote in tribute: 'Mick Tucker and myself put together the first new line-up of Sweet after the hiatus of the original band.
"We needed a singer and when Paul arrived for the audition we looked no further.
"Our first dates were in Australia, total sell-outs which boded well for the future. Europe followed suit and 3 sold out nights at the Marquee in London produced a live album, video and DVD.
"'Live at the Marquee' did well in various charts around the world and Paul's vocal performance has stood the test of time.'
Day, born in London, has lived in Australia since 1986.

Ryan Reynolds' £7.5m target's dad drops huge hint on record Wrexham transfer going through

A Wrexham transfer target's dad appears to have hinted that a record £7.5m move is close with a cryptic post, sparking fan excitement as the club gears up for the Championship Nathan Broadhead's dad appears to have dropped a major hint that his son is about to complete a move to Wrexham in a club-record deal. The Red Dragons, owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, were reported to have tabled a £7.5million bid for the Ipswich Town forward last week. ‌ Broadhead, who was previously part of Wrexham's academy, joined the Tractor Boys from Everton for £1.5m in January 2023. He played a key role in Ipswich 's back-to-back promotions from League One and the Championship, before being restricted to just seven Premier League starts last season. ‌ Now in the final year of his contract at Portman Road, talks over the Wales international's proposed move were initially understood to be progressing well. The deal looked to have stalled at the weekend though due to injuries and transfer interest in other Ipswich attackers. ‌ However, the 27-year-old's dad, Mark Broadhead, has offered hope to Wrexham fans after sharing a cryptic post from his personal Facebook account. Simply captioned "12 years later," it shows an image of a young Nathan playing for Everton in 2013, followed by one of him celebrating a goal for Ipswich last year. The final picture, titled "Now," shows Nathan sporting a Wrexham shirt while kneeling on the pitch at the Racecourse Ground back in his academy days. While the deal has not been confirmed by either club, supporters have taken it as a sign that his return is imminent after a screengrab of the post was shared on X by the Fearless in Devotion fan account. One person replied: "That's all the info we need." While someone else posted: "As good as an official announcement, that." Another supporter wrote: "Someone may have just let it slip also outside the ground too." Ipswich fans also seemed convinced, with one adding: "You've got yourselves one hell of a player. Good luck this season." ‌ Broadhead has bagged 23 goals in 83 appearances for Ipswich in total and his arrival at Wrexham would be seen as a big coup. The Welsh side are preparing for their first campaign in the second tier for 43 years after securing promotion from League One in April. Manager Phil Parkinson has so far signed eight players this summer as he looks to improve his squad. Sheffield United striker Kieffer Moore became the latest addition on Tuesday, joining on a three-year contract in a deal reportedly worth £2m. ‌ Wrexham face a tough start to the season as they travel to face relegated Southampton on Saturday in their opening game. Liberato Cacace is another new face who signed up last month from Italian outfit Empoli, and the left-back is looking forward to getting started. Explaining why he signed, he told the BBC: "There was interest in Italy, but for me, I'm a big football fan as well. I watch a lot of football and I've always watched English football, from the Premier League to the Championship so I know the level I'm heading into. ‌ "It was always a big dream of mine to play in the UK. Obviously Wrexham having so much publicity in the media as well you could see what the club was like. It's a very exciting project and I'm also very excited to start the season as well." He added: "I've already had chats with the players and with the manager and I think I'm settling in pretty well. I'm a professional person as well so I always like to keep fit. I'm going to use every day to make sure that against Southampton I'll be ready to go." Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Mel B and the story behind her ‘sequel wedding' dress

For her second trip down the aisle, however, Brown chose a gown that was more 'club' than 'cathedral'. Designed by US-based designer Justin Alexander, her sheer, fit-and-flare gown was hand beaded with red crystals and bugle beads to create a 'floating' effect, a task that took six artisans over 850 hours to complete. While the gown's plunging sweetheart neckline and daring side slit would have raised eyebrows at St Paul's, there were no such sensitivities in Marrakech, allowing the ebullient, body-positive style that is Brown's trademark to reach its fullest expression. A lace-up corset and a cascading godet completed the look, the latter flowing into a dramatic, cathedral-length train, despite there being nary a cathedral in sight. If the singer's first gown reflected her British roots, her second captured her time in America, where she lived for 15 years between 2004 and 2019, and is currently continuing her stint as a judge on America's Got Talent. 'Mel loved the idea of a red dress – something bold, with lots and lots of shimmer, that also felt light and easy to move in,' says Caroline Black, owner of bridal boutique Evelie, in South Kensington, London. 'She had such a strong sense of what she wanted.' What she really, really wanted, one imagines, was the blessing of her four former bandmates. Despite telling Hello magazine in 2022 that the other Spice Girls 'like Rory so much… they've never liked any of my boyfriends and they've been quite clear about that,' only Emma Bunton attended the couple's July nuptials at St Paul's Cathedral, with Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Horner remaining absent due to travel and work commitments. Nor did they attend a subsequent £28,000 party at Shangri-La in The Shard. While photographic evidence is yet to surface, Brown's Instagram account seems to confirm that Mel C, at least, was on hand to witness the sequel. 'What a weekend! So happy we got to share it with you,' Chisholm posted, underneath a photo of the happy pair, in which the groom wore a cropped white jacket and black trousers by Alexander McQueen. While their Moroccan nuptials may have been a sequel, Mel B fans will be fervently hoping that this is the final instalment. The singer's first marriage, to Dutch backing dancer Jimmy Gulzar in 1998, lasted 16 months, while her second marriage, to businessman Stephen Belafonte in 2007, ended in acrimony in 2017, with Brown accusing Belafonte of emotional and physical abuse. In 2018, she became a patron for Women's Aid, the charity that helps survivors of domestic violence. She received an MBE in 2022 for her services to charitable causes. With an estimated net worth of £4.7 million, a costly divorce has left Brown as the least wealthy of the Spice Girls. Sizeable as her fortune may be, it's fairly modest for a woman who comprised one fifth of the best-selling girl group of all time. Since bursting onto the music scene in 1996 with their hit single Wannabe, the group has sold over 100 million records worldwide. And while rumours of a Spice Girls reunion may be unfounded, let's hope Mel B continues to make sweet music with her latest husband, at least.

Oasis death: Tragic post from Lee Claydon's brother before fatal fall at Wembley

Tributes have been paid for Oasis fan Lee Claydon, who sadly died following a fall at the band's gig on Saturday night. His brother Aaron said his family are 'devastated' A heartbreaking Facebook post reveals the excitement a family of Oasis fans felt before one of them tragically died in a fall at the band's gig on Saturday night. ‌ Aaron Claydon, brother of beloved dad Lee Claydon, said 'today is gonna be the day', a reference to the Oasis smash-hit 'Wonderwall'. He tagged his brother and other family members in the post. ‌ Lee Claydon, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene at Wembley Stadium on Saturday having suffered 'injuries consistent with a fall'. Since the incident, Aaron set up a GoFundMe page in honour of his brother and to help with financial support for his family. It comes after a man brutally kills a woman on first date and leave her body parts around town. ‌ In a touching tribute, Aaron said his brother was the person he 'always looked up to' and that their family has been 'turned upside down' by his death. The family including his partner Amanda is 'struggling to deal with this devastation and unexpected loss", Aaron said ‌ He wrote: 'Lee leaves behind his Son, Dad, Partner , Brothers, Sisters, Nephews and Niece. Lee was a loving family man who was a role model to his son Harry and was loved so much by all his family. 'Lee would have done anything for any of us and he was taken from us far too soon and we will miss him so very much. Lee loved all outdoor activities, one of his favourite hobbies was fishing. He also loved music and his guitar. He also really enjoyed going to watch and support the boys and his nephew at their football games. ‌ "Amanda and the boys have our full support at this very sad time which is why we would love to be able to help them financially as well as emotionally. Please help us raise as much funds as we can to take one worry off Amanda and family right now as they are going through any family's worst nightmare." Paying tribute to the dad on Facebook, his cousin Shannon Gabrielle said: "Honestly don't even know what words to write right now. My cousin Lee tragically passed away this weekend after no doubt having the time of his life at the Oasis concert this weekend, most will have seen snippets in the news I'm sure & as you can imagine it has devastated the whole family and for his closest knit family unit it's the toughest time they are going through ever right now.' "Sharing his go fund me page, in the hope that any donations, big or small, will go a long way towards helping his partner Amanda & the boys throughout this awful period and costs of things. You just don't fathom you will go out for a night of amazing fun & not come home at the end of it." ‌ Oasis fans took to Facebook after the gig. The parent of one gig-goer said her teenage son "saw him falling" but was too far away to see him land. Another woman said the man fell into their block and described what happened 'awful'. Claire Collier wrote: "It happened about [five] mins before the end of the gig, it was awful... thinking of his family and friends and everyone that witnessed it." During the Sunday gig, Oasis dedicated Live Forever to 'all the people who can't be here tonight'. The touching moment came as the Manchester band brought to a close their first run of five gigs at the venue as part of their Live 25 tour. ‌ Addressing fans on Sunday night after finishing Whatever, singer Liam Gallagher said: 'This one's for all the people who can't be here tonight, but who are here if you know what I mean, and aren't they looking lovely. Live Forever.' A spokesperson for Wembley Stadium said on Sunday: 'Last night, Wembley Stadium medics, the London Ambulance Service and the police attended to a concert-goer who was found with injuries consistent with a fall.' A spokesperson for the stadium has since told the Mirror: 'Wembley Stadium operates to a very high health and safety standard, fully meeting legal requirements for the safety of spectators and staff, and is certified to and compliant with the ISO 45001 standard. We work very closely and collaboratively with all relevant event delivery stakeholders - including event owners, local authorities, the Sports Ground Safety Authority and the police - to deliver events to high standards of safety, security and service for everyone attending or working in the venue.'
