PGA Tour Champions announces new event in Portugal at golf course designed by Ernie Els
Officials from PGA Tour Champions, Arrow Global Group, Turismo de Portugal and Turismo de Algarve announced Monday a five-year deal to host a new professional golf tournament in Portugal. The Portugal Invitational will debut the week of July 27, 2026, and will feature a field of 78 players, including World Golf Hall of Fame and PGA Tour Champions members, as well as Legends Tour members.
It will be the first PGA Tour-sanctioned individual stroke play event to be held in Portugal and will feature a purse of $3 million USD. It will follow the ISPS Handa Senior Open and precede the Staysure Senior PGA Championship on the Legends Tour in a compelling three-week swing of European golf featuring some of the game's most iconic players.
'We are thrilled to partner with Arrow Global Group, Turismo de Portugal, Turismo de Algarve and Ernie Els to announce this exciting, first-of-its-kind PGA Tour Champions event in Portugal,' PGA Tour Champions president Miller Brady said in a release. 'This Tour is a global showcase of the game's legendary players, and we know the great golf fans in Portugal and throughout Europe will welcome the opportunity to watch them compete in person at The Els Club Vilamoura.'
The event will be contested at The Els Club Vilamoura, designed by Els – a seven-time winner on the PGA Tour Champions and World Golf Hall of Fame member. The newly-redesigned Els Club hosted the DP World Tour's Portugal Masters from 2007-22, producing winners such as Shane Lowry (2012) and Padraig Harrington (2016). Portugal's only prior hosting of a PGA Tour-sanctioned event came at the 2005 World Cup of Golf, a former team competition.

All three rounds of the Portugal Invitational will be televised on Golf Channel.
Longtime PGA Tour executive Todd Rhinehart, who ran a number of the Tour's biggest events and most recently oversaw PGA Tour Latinoamérica as Vice President and Executive Director, was announced as the tournament director of the Portugal Invitational.

How to watch the 2025 3M Open, the PGA Tour's summer stopover in Minnesota
Golf's major season is in the books, bound and laminated by Scottie Scheffler's Dunluce dominance. There's still much to play for, though. This weekend's 3M Open teases out a prize pot of FedEx Cup points, possible Ryder Cup recognition and more than $8 million in cash. The PGA Tour heads up north to Arnold Palmer's Deacon's Walk, with first-round action starting Thursday morning. Early coverage of each round is available on ESPN+. CBS broadcasts can also be streamed on Paramount+. The course was designed by Palmer and fellow luminary Tom Lehman back in 2000. TPC Twin Cities boasts four par-5 holes (Nos. 3, 6, 12 and the fateful 18th at 596 yards), and it carries a 145 slope rating (by comparison, the Royal Portrush Golf Club at Dunluce comes in at 140). Last year's winner was Venezuelan veteran Jhonattan Vegas, who finished 17 under par and edged Max Greyserman by a single stroke. We all know that over-the-air television is in the doldrums right now, and local channels business worldwide is coming under similar strain. That being said, Sky New Zealand discovered firsthand just what it takes to buy local channels operations from entertainment giant Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). How does $0.60 sound to you? Sky New Zealand paid Warner NZ$1, which was worth about $0.60 US at the time of the report, in exchange for Warner's local channels business in New Zealand. The deal will make Sky the major force in TV media, giving it 100% of outstanding shares in Discovery NZ on a '…cash-free debt-free basis.' This will also give Sky 35% of the linear television ad market revenue share, and about 24% of the same thing in digital TV. Sky will also end up with the Three free-to-air channel as well as the ThreeNow streaming platform. Further, Warner will even supply content for the next several years as a 'multi-year agreement' has been established to do just that. The deal is expected to close August 1, and the New Zealand Commerce Commission has quietly advised both sides that it will not be objecting to any part of the deal. Max Surge Meanwhile, Warner will be pushing its streaming operations that much harder. HBO Max recently added around 12 new territories, mostly in Europe. With the addition of Tajikistan, Malta, Lithuania, Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Iceland, Georgia, Estonia, Cyprus, Armenia and Albania, Warner clears the 90-market mark with hopes to clear 100 soon. Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom are all set for a launch early in 2026. Sports, meanwhile, will be well-represented here too. Eurosport access will be involved, with Tour de France racing, US Open tennis, the PGA Tour and more coming up. And sports on HBO Max will also be available with an add-on option. Is WBD Stock a Good Buy? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Moderate Buy consensus rating on WBD stock based on 10 Buys and eight Holds assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 48.49% rally in its share price over the past year, the average WBD price target of $13 per share implies 1.13% upside potential.
