England cricket star
Joe Root
has dismissed Australian batter
David Warner
's recent criticism about his batting technique as "all part of the fun" ahead of the upcoming Ashes series in Australia starting November 21.
The comments come as England prepares for the crucial five-match tour following their 2-2 draw against India.
The Ashes series holds significant importance for England's chances in the ICC World Test Championship final. England is also looking to secure their first Ashes victory in Australia since 2011 and their first overall since 2015.

Warner had targeted Root's performance against Australian pacer
Josh Hazlewood
, stating: "Josh Hazlewood tends to have his number quite a lot.
He will have to take the surfboard off his front leg." The comment referenced Root's record against Hazlewood, who has dismissed him 10 times in 31 innings at an average of 31.40.
Speaking to Sky Sports Root responded to Warner's comments with composure, saying: "Just that. I have no control over how people perceive the game or discuss it in an interview. Nothing new, is it? You know there are going to be storylines and people wanting to hype up a big series.

Does not really change anything. It is sort of irrelevant to me. What can I do about it? Just make sure it is not a talking point in six months or 100 days' time.
"
The English batter further added: "When you get out there, you have to got to try and impact the game and help your team get off to a good start. Business as usual as far as I am concerned. I guess it is all part of the fun. We will see what happens out there [with Warner at Lord's during The Hundred, where they are playing for Trent Rockets and London Spirit respectively].
It is not really in my nature to get too verbal."
Poll
Will Joe Root score a century in the Ashes series?
Yes, definitely
No, not likely
Maybe, depends on conditions
Root's performance in Australia has been notable despite not scoring a century there. He has accumulated 892 runs in 14 Tests and 27 innings, maintaining an average of over 35 with nine half-centuries and a highest score of 89.
The pre-series verbal exchanges between players from both teams are considered a common strategy to create psychological pressure before the matches begin.
Both Root and Warner will face each other at Lord's during The Hundred tournament, where they represent Trent Rockets and London Spirit respectively, before the Ashes series begins.

Asia Cup 2025: Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal or Sanju Samson? Ashwin highlights India's big selection dilemma ahead of squad announcement

Among the burning questions is whether Shubman Gill , fresh off an outstanding Test series, will find a place in the squad or if Yashasvi Jaiswal will continue to be backed as India's next-generation opener. Poll Who should be India's primary opener for the Asia Cup 2025? Shubman Gill Yashasvi Jaiswal Sanju Samson Other 'There are a few talking points regarding the Asia Cup. The first question that comes to everyone's mind is whether Shubman Gill fits into the T20 plans because in the last World Cup, Yashasvi Jaiswal was the backup opener,' Ashwin said on his YouTube channel. 'So Jaiswal automatically gets a kick-in. Rohit Sharma is not going to be a part of that team, so Jaiswal automatically gets a look-in. Now, who is going to be that other opener?' he added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Bungur: Comfortable Sofas at Affordable Prices (See Offers) Comfortable Sofa | Search Ads Learn More Undo Ashwin stressed that Gill's recent form cannot be overlooked but highlighted that Sanju Samson 's rise as an opener in the T20 format adds another twist to the debate. Only way I see Jadeja getting injured is doing a rotator cuff via his celebration, says Lee

Ravindra Jadeja's trademark sword-swinging celebration has been a common sight on the cricketing field. But former Australia pacer Brett Lee has cautioned the veteran all-rounder in pulling off the celebration, saying he is at the risk of injuring his rotator cuff muscle. Jadeja amassed 516 runs in the drawn 2-2 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test series against England, including hitting five half-centuries and one hundred. 'The thing with Jadeja, the only way I see him getting injured is doing a rotator cuff with his, the way he does a sword celebration. So, I love it. Look after your body. Don't celebrate too hard,' said Lee on his YouTube channel on Sunday. Jadeja retired from T20Is after India's T20 World Cup win last year. But he continues to remain a force to reckon with in Tests and ODIs for India. Lee, the former Australian speedster went on to shower praise on Jadeja, and predicted he will go on to play 100 Test matches for India. 'Another sort of 15 Tests, it's about two years. I think he'll go past the 100 mark. I think he's one of the best all-rounders that we've seen. 36 years of age, he's still got a good couple of years left in him.' 'The term we like to use, factory-made cricketer. He has everything that a cricketer needs, and I think he ticks every single box. He does the basics right, he's got a simple technique, no fuss. He runs in and bowls accurately, he bowls the correct line and length when needed, and gets through his overs quickly.' '36 years of age, but the fittest. He's the fittest in the team, he covers a lot of ground, and he prides himself on being the fittest. That is probably the reason why he never shies away from those big moments. He likes to be in the game, he's an entertainer, and he's probably one of the factory cricketers that if you put everything into a mix, throw it into a bucket, mix all up, pick out your best cricketer, Jadeja will be at the top of the list,' he concluded.
