Ovation Fertility AI Research Abstract Selected for Presentation at ESHRE 2025

Associated Press12 hours ago

PARIS, FRANCE, June 30, 2025 / EINPresswire.com / -- Ovation® Fertility's groundbreaking research on the use of artificial intelligence in embryo selection has been accepted for presentation at the renowned European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) 2025 Annual Meeting. The study, entitled 'Retrospective comparison of deep learning versus logistic regression for selecting the best embryo for transfer,' was featured in a poster presentation at this year's 41st annual conference in Strombeek-Bever, Belgium.
Co-authored by Michael Fanton of California-based Alife Health and US Fertility & Ovation Fertility 's Vice President of Scientific Advancement Matthew (Tex) VerMilyea, PhD, HCLD/CC (ABB), the study sought to understand how the performance of a deep learning model compares to a logistic regression model for embryo ranking using prospectively collected embryo images.
'Ovation Fertility has been studying the use of artificial intelligence in embryo selection for several years, and this most recent study helps us fine-tune the use of these tools to improve pregnancy rates for patients using IVF,' VerMilyea says. 'This study tells us that both deep learning and logistic regression models show promise for identifying the 'most likely to succeed' embryo produced in an IVF cycle. This is good news for patients because AI has the potential to increase the chances the rate of successful pregnancy in single embryo transfers.'
The study evaluated 4,543 images and morphology grades of individual embryos from 870 patients at two fertility clinics in the United States. The images were collected prospectively using an embryo image capture software (Alife Embryo Assist) between January and December 2024. With 90% of the embryos already genetically tested, the study's authors used both deep learning and logistic regression models to rank each patient's embryos, testing each model's success in selecting the best embryo for transfer.
The study found that the top-ranked deep learning embryo was transferred in 45% of cohorts, with the top-ranked logistic regression embryo transferred in 76% of cohorts. Transferring the top-ranked embryo by deep learning was associated with an 8.9% higher pregnancy rate. Transferring the top-ranked embryo by logistic regression was associated with a 4.1% higher pregnancy rate. The simplicity and interpretability of the logistic regression may allow for faster adoption and clinical trust, while deep learning may further enhance success rates.

2026 Volkswagen ID.4 Review, Pricing, and Specs

Overview The Volkswagen ID.4 is practical, relaxed, and comfortable; in essence, it's the everyman's compact electric SUV. With proportions that mimic the gas-powered Volkswagen Tiguan, spaciousness is one of the ID.4's standout traits. It also offers a bit of trim variety; 282-hp single-motor variants trade vigor for range and affordability while 335-hp dual-motor, AWD models flip that script and add in a bit more luxury. The ID.4 is plenty peppy, especially in all-wheel drive, dual-motor form, but it falls far short of being a corner carver. While the ID.4's starting price is undercut by some solid competitors like the Mustang Mach-E and Chevrolet Equinox EV, it is still a relative bargain considering its well-rounded disposition. What's New for 2026? The ID.4 received some substantial improvements in 2024, including a significantly revised infotainment system, updated software, and increased performance. For 2026, a factory HomeLink mirror on the S Plus model is the only new addition confirmed so far. However, Volkswagen says that the ID.4 will also receive a mid-2026 update that brings new features; more details will be given closer to the refresh's launch. Pricing and Which One to Buy The price of the 2026 Volkswagen ID.4 is expected to start around $47,000 and go up to $59,000 depending on the trim and options. Pro $47,000 (est) Pro S $48,000 (est) S Plus $52,000 (est) Pro S Plus $59,000 (est) We'd opt for the rear-drive Pro to help maximize the ID.4's range. The Pro can also be had with all-wheel drive, which helps give the ID.4 extra performance and horsepower without consuming too much of its driving range. EV Motor, Power, and Performance EV Motors: 282 horsepower (Pro/Pro S); 335 horsepower (AWD Pro/AWD Pro S/AWD Pro S Plus) 282 horsepower (Pro/Pro S); 335 horsepower (AWD Pro/AWD Pro S/AWD Pro S Plus) Drivetrains: Single motor, rear-wheel drive (Pro/Pro S); dual motor, all-wheel drive (AWD Pro/AWD Pro S/AWD Pro S Plus) With the single rear-mounted motor, the ID.4 makes 282 horsepower. Dual-motor, all-wheel-drive models pump out 335. Regenerative braking helps recapture energy when slowing the vehicle, but the familiar one-pedal driving capability that EV pilots have come to appreciate is largely missing here, even in the ID.4's most aggressive regenerative mode. Also lacking is the traditional gut-punch acceleration that electric vehicles often provide. The ID.4 handles less sharply than some other EVs, but we appreciate its smooth and refined ride quality and quiet cabin. 0–60-MPH Times C/D Test: 60 mph in 7.3 seconds (Entry); 60 mph in 4.8 seconds (AWD models) In Comparison: The Volkswagen ID.4 delivers average acceleration for a vehicle in its class. Rivals like the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 have quicker single-motor variants, but the all-wheel-drive ID.4 models are sufficiently zippy. View Photos Volkswagen Towing and Payload Capacity While the Volkswagen ID.4 isn't the vehicle to choose if you foresee boat-hauling in your future, it still has the ability to tow up to 2700 pounds. Range, Charging, and Battery Life C/D Range Test: 240 miles (Dual Motor) 240 miles (Dual Motor) EPA/Claimed EV Range: 291 miles (Single Motor); 263 miles (Dual Motor) When we last tested an ID.4 on our 75-mph highway range test in 2024, an all-wheel drive Pro S model managed 240 miles, falling 23 miles short of its EPA estimate. The EPA hasn't released a figure for the rear-wheel-drive ID.4 since 2024, when it earned an estimated 291 miles of range. Without any significant changes to the ID.4's motor or battery tech since then, the 2026 model should achieve similar results. All Volkswagen ID.4 models come with a 77.0-kWh battery pack that can be charged at home on 110- or 240-volt connections. It is also capable of DC fast-charging. Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe EPA city rating: 108 MPGe (Dual Motor) 108 MPGe (Dual Motor) EPA highway rating: 96 MPGe (Dual Motor) 2026 ID.4 MPGe figures aren't available yet, but the 2025 all-wheel-drive models earned ratings of 108 MPGe city, 96 MPGe highway, and 102 MPGe combined. The rear-wheel-drive variants haven't been evaluated since 2024, with the Pro and Pro S receiving ratings of 122 MPGe city, 104 MPGe highway, and 113 MPGe combined back then. MPGe stands for miles per gallon of gas equivalent, an EPA metric that estimates PHEV and EV vehicle fuel efficiency. For more information about the ID.4's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo First Row: The interior design is uncluttered and playful; cloth seats with heat for the front occupants are standard, but going with the Pro S model brings faux-leather upholstery along with 12-way power-adjustable front seats with a memory function. Second Row: The ID.4's modern and minimalist interior extends to the second row, where rear-seat passengers can enjoy plenty of head and leg room. The second row has a 60/40 fold-flat bench seat, meaning that it can be folded down for additional cargo space in the rear. Cargo Capacity: The ID.4's cargo area is quite spacious. We managed to fit eight carry-on suitcases behind the ID.4's rear seat and 26 total with the rear seats folded. View Photos Volkswagen Infotainment and Connectivity Infotainment: 12.9-inch touchscreen Connectivity: Wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging pad, Sound: Seven-speaker VW sound system; nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system in the Pro S Plus. The ID.4 comes standard with a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. The infotainment interface is VW's latest but not its greatest; we've found it to be fussy. Navigation is standard, and so are wireless versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All ID.4 models also come with a 5.3-inch reconfigurable digital gauge display and voice-recognition capability. Safety and Driver-Assistance Features The electrified VW offers a host of standard and optional driver-assistance technology. For more information about the ID.4's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include: Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist Standard adaptive cruise control Warranty and Maintenance Coverage Volkswagen currently offers an above-average limited warranty and below-average powertrain coverage compared with rival non-luxury brands, but it offers two years or 20,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance. The ID.4's electric components are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles. Limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles Powertrain warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles Battery components are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles Complimentary maintenance is covered for two years or 20,000 miles C/D Test Results and Specs We test every vehicle we can. 2026 Rolls-Royce Spectre Review, Pricing, and Specs

Overview Rolls-Royce is a name synonymous with luxury—and not just luxury, ultra-luxury. Whether your discerning tastes settle on the Cullinan, Ghost, or Phantom, all deliver the utmost in quiet, comfortable motoring. But the brand's electric Spectre coupe takes it a step further with a truly silent electric powertrain. A pair of electric motors provides all-wheel drive and an output of either 577 or 650 horsepower, depending on which model you choose. Acceleration is effortless, but don't expect the Spectre to carve corners alongside the world's premier sports coupes. This two-door is more for relaxed cruising. Expert Tip: If you want a similarly luxurious experience with a side of athleticism, consider a model from Rolls-Royce's main rival, Bentley. What's New for 2026? The Spectre isn't expected to pick up any significant changes for 2026. Pricing and Which One to Buy The price of the 2026 Rolls-Royce Spectre is expected to start around $398,000 and go up to $468,000 depending on the trim and options. Spectre $398,000 (est) Spectre Black Badge $468,000 (est) 0 $100k $200k $300k $400k $500k $600k $700k $800k Rolls-Royce will let you customize a Spectre pretty much any way you want. And that's a good thing, because, with a price tag this high, we expect buyers will want something truly personalized. We'd go with the more powerful Black Badge model because, well, why not? EV Motor, Power, and Performance EV Motors: 577-hp dual motor (standard); 650-hp dual-motor (Black Badge) 577-hp dual motor (standard); 650-hp dual-motor (Black Badge) Drivetrain: all-wheel drive The standard Spectre comes with a dual-motor electric powertrain with 577 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. After taking the Spectre on a test drive, we can assure you this is more than enough power to move the big coupe with authority. The Black Badge variant gets a sharp increase in power and torque to 650 horsepower and 793 pound-feet. Although sharp impacts still make themselves known, Rolls-Royce has installed adaptive suspension to ensure an appropriately isolated ride over all but the biggest bumps, and the engineers also made room for a massive amount of sound-deadening material to maintain a whisper-quiet cabin. And oh, how quiet it is. On the road, the Spectre is so silent inside that your ears pick up almost no sounds until you get up to 80 mph, and the wind starts to only slightly penetrate into the tomb-like cabin. At our test track, we recorded a very quiet 63-dB reading on our sound meter at a 70 mph cruise. 0–60-MPH Times In Comparison: You may scoff at a 3.7-second result and point to the Tesla Model S Plaid that hit 60 mph in 2.1 seconds in our testing, but we'd be quick to remind you that Rolls-Royce's brand ethos is more about quiet cruising than mind-bending performance. The Black Badge model will certainly be quicker to 60 mph than the standard one we tested, but we won't know exactly how quick it is until we can put it through its paces. View Exterior Photos Michael Simari | Car and Driver Range, Charging, and Battery Life C/D Range Test(s): 260 miles 260 miles EPA EV Range: 251-277 miles The Spectre sports a 102.0-kWh battery borrowed from the BMW i7, which is estimated to provide a driving range of up to 253 miles per charge when paired with 23-inch wheels. Going with the smaller 22-inch wheels increases the range estimate to as much as 277 miles per charge. Our test car wore the 23-inch wheels but still delivered an impressive 260 miles in our real-world highway range testing. DC fast-charging is standard, but we'd guess that most Spectre buyers will have a charging system installed at their estates so they aren't forced to wait around in the parking lot of a Walmart like the rest of us. Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe EPA City Rating(s): 67-74 MPGe 67-74 MPGe EPA Highway Rating(s): 74-82 MPGe The EPA hasn't released any fuel economy information for the 2026 Spectre yet, but the 2025 model earned ratings as high as 74 MPGe city, 82 MPGe highway, and 77 MPGe combined. MPGe stands for miles per gallon of gas equivalent, an EPA metric that estimates PHEV and EV vehicle fuel efficiency. For more information about the Spectre's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo First Row: The Spectre's cabin offers space for four with bucket seats in both rows. Anyone familiar with Rolls-Royce's current interior design will find a similarly sybaritic one here, although the company has added several design features that are unique to Spectre. For example, in addition to the brand's signature starry-night headliner, the Spectre's door panels rock a similar twinkle with tiny LED lights sparkling in the area surrounding the armrests. There is also a seemingly endless array of personalization options and material choices. Second Row: Rear-hinged coach doors take some getting used to, but they open wide to make accessing the rear seat easy. The second row isn't as spacious as the first, but the seats are comfortable, and the Spectre offers plenty of amenities to accompany the cozy environment. Cargo Capacity: Considering the Spectre's size, its 10-cubic-foot trunk could be considered a little small, but it's easy to access thanks to a power trunk lid and should offer enough space for a weekend's worth of luggage or a sizable haul of shopping bags. View Interior Photos Michael Simari | Car and Driver Infotainment and Connectivity Infotainment: 10.1-inch touchscreen 10.1-inch touchscreen Connectivity: Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Audio System: 18-speaker Bespoke Audio stereo All Spectres come with a touchscreen infotainment system nestled into their well-trimmed dashboards. A digital gauge cluster is standard, too. The technology is well-integrated into the Spectre's interior design and doesn't distract from the ambiance. A Bespoke Audio stereo system is available and includes attractive aluminum speaker grilles. Safety and Driver-Assistance Features Rolls-Royce offers several driver-assistance features as standard, including automated emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. For information about the Spectre's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Standard Safety Features: automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with a lane-centering feature Warranty and Maintenance Coverage Like the rest of the Rolls-Royce lineup, the Spectre comes with a four-year warranty and maintenance package, which doesn't expire at a certain mileage limit.
