Germany: Small plane crash kills 2 in Korschenbroich
Korschenbroich: A small passenger plane crashed into a residential building in the western German town of Korschenbroich on Saturday, killing two people, North-Rhine Westphalia police said.
The town is located near the city of Mönchengladbach and is not far from the Dutch border.
According to police, the plane struck the terrace of a building at around 12:30 p.m. (1030 GMT/UTC) and then a fire broke out.
German news agency dpa reported that one of the two people killed was the 71-year-old pilot, citing police.
Police said the pilot was from Düsseldorf and appeared to have been sitting alone in the aircraft.
It wasn't immediately clear whether the other person had been a passenger on the plane or had been on the ground.
Firefighters responded in numbers with the local control center saying that around 50 personnel had been deployed. They managed to douse the flames rapidly.
The cause of the crash has yet to be established.

Russia says bridge collapse derailed a train
A passenger train derailed in Russia's Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine, late Saturday after a bridge collapsed because of what local officials described as "illegal interference." Alexander Bogomaz, the regional governor of Bryansk, said on the Telegram messaging app that seven people died in the collapse, which occurred in the Vygonichskyi district near a federal highway. "There are seven dead as a result of the collapse of a bridge onto railway tracks. Thirty victims, including two children, were taken to medical facilities of the Bryansk region," he wrote. "Emergency services and government officials are working at the scene," Bogomaz added. "Everything is being done to provide all necessary assistance to the victims." The train came off its tracks while it was en route to the Russian capital of Moscow from Klimov in the country's west, Moscow Railways said in a statement. It said the bridge had been damaged "as a result of illegal interference in transport operations" without elaborating. Russia's Emergency Ministry said on Telegram that it sent an additional deployment to the fire and rescue units already working at the site. Officials also said they opened an investigation into the incident. The disaster area is about 100 kilometers (62 miles) from the Ukrainian border. Ukraine has not commented on the bridge collapse or derailed train. Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine over three years ago, Russia's border regions, including Bryansk, have faced border shelling, drone strikes and covert raids from Ukraine.

Germany: Fire at Hamburg hospital kills 3, injures over 50
At least three people were killed and 50 injured in a fire that broke out at a hospital in the northern German city of Hamburg. The fire started shortly after midnight in one of the buildings of the Marien Hospital in the city's Hohenfeide neighborhood. Heavy smoke then engulfed all floors of the building, a fire department spokesperson said. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire, which began in the department for geriatric care. A large contingent of emergency service personnel members were deployed to control the fire and bring those in the hospital to safety. In the early hours of Sunday, authorities reported that the fire had been extinguished. Patients who were in the affected building have been evacuated, officials said.
