Jalen Hurts finds time for reflection and renewed self-confidence
Very rarely will you hear Jalen Hurts talk this much about anything. Confidence as described by #Eagles QB Jalen Hurts.. How can you not love this guy? Sometimes, there is this urge to pick on Philadelphia Eagles fans and the local media. Maybe not all of them, but some of them can undoubtedly get that smoke. Not everyone is guilty of this, but this has to be said. Remember when Donovan McNabb played that 'air guitar' on his way to the field in his final appearance with the franchise? Remember how annoyed everyone was. That same contingent that criticized him is the same collective that criticizes Jalen Hurts for his stoicism. What more do people want? This is a guy who has crafted a 46-20 regular-season record while winning six of his nine postseason starts. This is also the guy who outplayed Patrick Mahomes on the game's biggest stage twice, winning one of those Super Bowls by a landslide. There comes a time when one comes to grips with the truth. Jalen Hurts could win three more Super Bowls. People will still complain. Sure, we realize some of these theories come from the national media as well, but fortunately, Hurts "had a purpose before anyone had an opinion". Yes... Take that, haters! Jalen Hurts opens up and shares the source of some newfound confidence Jalen Hurts was truly built for a city like Philadelphia. While others shrink under the pressure, he thrives in it. All the while, he remains humble while 'keeping the main thing the main thing'. This is a guy who was chosen by the greatest NBA player of all time, Michael Jordan, to be the NFL's ambassador of one of the world's top athletic brands. Most guys would do anything to play at one of college football's most iconic programs. Jalen Hurts has played for two of them. Kudos to this guy for remaining level-headed. We've never been part of a Super Bowl-winning roster, but we imagine it's pretty cool. On whether that has led to a confidence boost, Hurts offered the following response. Hurts may sound like someone with 40 years of life experiences to share, but he is still 27 years old. Think about that for a second. His story is still being written. His legacy is still being defined. Perhaps rather than complain, if some of you take some time to sit back and enjoy this, you may discover that you are enjoying the ride.

Cardinals head to Mile High for joint practice with Broncos before preseason game
Cardinals head to Mile High for joint practice with Broncos before preseason game originally appeared on The Sporting News The Arizona Cardinals will take the field in Denver today for a joint practice with the Broncos, their final on-field work before Saturday's preseason matchup at Empower Field at Mile High. The session marks the third consecutive year Arizona has scheduled joint work ahead of a preseason road game. Under head coach Jonathan Gannon, the Cardinals have previously practiced with the Vikings and Colts, while also holding a session with the Titans in 2022. Quarterback Kyler Murray said he is eager for the opportunity. 'I'm looking forward to it, honestly,' Murray told reporters, via Darren Urban from 'Probably a little too much.' Gannon noted that the controlled setting allows for valuable game-style reps without the injury risks that come with live tackling. 'You're going against different schemes, different people,' Gannon told reporters. 'It's a new stress to your central nervous system.' Today's work will pit Arizona's offense against a Denver defense that ranked near the top of the league in takeaways last season. Led by former Cardinals coordinator Vance Joseph, the unit thrives on disrupting timing and creating turnovers, and it impressed early in last week's joint practice with San Francisco before surrendering a pair of late scoring drives. Per Denver Sports 104.3 The Fan's Andrew Mason, Joseph is looking for more consistency, saying, 'I want improvement. I want finish, I want great coverage, I want great rush and I want good football.' The mile-high altitude and forecasted 90-degree temperatures will add to the challenge for Arizona's offense as it works to find a better rhythm after a rocky debut. Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp Facing such a defense also gives Murray a chance to rebound from that performance, when an attempted no-look pass was intercepted and made viral. The Broncos' secondary will test his timing and decision-making in a way that mirrors regular-season intensity. The joint session will serve as Arizona's final tune-up before Saturday night's preseason game in Denver, kicking off at 9:30 p.m. ET. Murray said the team is eager for the challenge and the opportunity to improve against a quality opponent. 'It's the best time of the year to be able to go out,' Murray said, 'and just be out there with the guys doing what we love.'

Terrell Davis likes 'significant upgrade' Broncos made at running back
Denver Broncos legend Terrell Davis knows a thing or two about toting the football; he earned a gold jacket from it. And he's excited about the Broncos' 2025 running back room. "I like it so far," said Davis, who spoke with Broncos Wire at Bank of America's 'Golf With Us' event on Monday. "J.K. Dobbins -- watching him last year and then knowing what he brings -- he's a physical running back; he's a guy that breaks a lot of tackles, gets a lot of yards after contact. So bringing him into the fold was, already in my opinion, an upgrade. "Then you go in and you draft (RJ) Harvey. The potential that he has, he reminds me a little of Darren Sproles; everybody says that, but he's kind of a scatback or you can use him not only in the backfield, but anytime you have a back that has flexibility, you could put them out and run routes, that's a win." Davis went on to say that the 2025 running backs remind him of what head coach Sean Payton did in New Orleans. "We're kind of seeing this team in the image of Sean Payton; and you can look back at Darren Sproles, think back to Reggie Bush, think back to Mark Ingram," said Davis. "You kind of see that starting to re-emerge, or at least the characteristics of those kind of backs. Again, the proof is in the pudding, but I'm pretty bullish on this backfield and I think what it did too was not only bringing those guys (Dobbins and Harvey), just even watching the preseason game. "I know it's a small sample size, but I just felt the energy was different from that room. You see guys now trying to break tackles, trying to get extra yards which we didn't see last year. So pretty encouraged by that, excited to see what happens. I think that room has had a significant upgrade." The Broncos were middle of the pack (16th in the NFL) in rushing yards in 2024, and the team has not had a 100-yard rusher in a game since the 2022 season. If anyone knows what it takes to have success on the ground in the NFL, it's Davis. It's a good sign for Denver's backfield that the Hall of Famer likes what he's seen from the group so far. Davis, who won two Super Bowls in Denver, spoke to Broncos Wire while promoting an initiative to make golf more accessible for kids through Bank of America's "Golf With Us" campaign. Davis earned NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP honors during his decorated career, and he's a member of the league's 2,000-yard Club. Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X!
