Ace Cup Pickleball Championship
is set to begin in the capital.
The tournament will take place from May 30 to June 1 at Ace Pickleball Club, situated within Rajiv Gandhi College Campus, Salaiya.
Pickleball is a racket or paddle sport in which two or four players use a smooth-faced paddle to hit a perforated, hollow plastic ball over a net until one side is unable to return the ball or commits a rule infraction.
Pickleball is played both indoors and outdoors. The event anticipates participation from more than 200 players across the state, with total prize money of one lakh rupees. Organising secretary Aditya Sur shared details about the championship. The competition features four categories: beginners, open, 35 plus, and 40 plus.
These categories will include men's, women's, and mixed doubles matches. Winners will receive personalised jerseys and gift vouchers.
Tournament preparations are underway, with the registration process already initiated. Players began their training sessions, he said. It's worth noting that this sport gained significant popularity worldwide in recent years, with Bhopal producing several accomplished players in the discipline.
