Monetary Support to Families of Martyrs

The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare branch in the Ghinda sub-zone reported that 294 thousand Nakfa, contributed by Government workers in the sub-zone, was distributed to 49 families of martyrs, with each family receiving 6 thousand Nakfa. The branch also stated that 180 thousand Nakfa, contributed by Diaspora nationals, was distributed to 22 families, and 50 families were rehabilitated with livestock.
In the same vein, members of the Northern Red Sea Region Administration, the Ministry of Marine Resources, the Air Force, and the Massawa Municipality extended financial support to three families of martyrs, each receiving 6 thousand Nakfa.
Reports indicate that over the past six months, approximately 3 million Nakfa has been disbursed to families of martyrs in the Ghinda sub-zone.

Mr. Beraki Kidane, a forestation expert at the Forestry and Wildlife Authority, indicated that an effective greening campaign is being carried out with strong community participation. Regarding the greening program undertaken by ministries, national associations, and members of the Defense Forces, Mr. Beraki said that more than 1.1 million tree seedlings planted in areas stretching from Beleza to Martyrs Park are in good condition. Mr. Beraki went on to say that from 2021 to 2024, as part of water and soil conservation efforts, 435 hectares of terraces were constructed and 210 hectares renovated. Fifty percent of the program was implemented by members of the Defense Forces, 25% by national associations and companies, 20% by the students' summer work program, and 5% through community involvement. Regarding activities in 2025, Mr. Beraki noted that in the first six months of the year, 21 hectares of terraces and 5,162 water diversion schemes have been constructed, and more than 70,000 tree seedlings have been planted. Encouragement for Outstanding Students in Keren

Anseba Elementary, Junior, and High School has recognized 24 outstanding students who qualified for degree and diploma programs in the 2024/2025 National School Leaving Examination. At the event held on 5 August, Mr. Mohammed Salah, Director of the school, said that encouraging outstanding students significantly contributes to motivating them to strive for higher achievements in their college education and in inspiring their peers to follow their example and become competitive students. Mr. Kiflai Andemicael, Head of the Education Office in the region, noted that this practice of recognizing outstanding students has become a tradition and plays a vital role in encouraging others to work hard and excel in their education. He also urged the awardees to continue working diligently for even better results in their college education. Col. Debesai Ghide, Commander of the Sawa National Service Training Center, conducted a seminar for members of the 38th round of national service on 5 August. The seminar, held on 5 August, focused on the role of Sawa in enhancing students' academic and vocational capacities, nurturing national values, supporting psychological and physical development, fostering group living and nationalism, as well as the progress of national development programs. He also provided a briefing on the guidelines and regulations of the training center. Col. Debesai, noting that Sawa has two main objectives, providing 12th-grade academic education and fulfilling national obligations, called on students to make the most of the opportunities provided. Lt. Col. Temesgen Samuel, Deputy Commander of the training center, urged the students to develop unity and mutual care and to adhere to the center's guidelines and regulations during their one-year stay. The participants, for their part, expressed their determination to pursue their education and fulfil their national obligation.
