A golden retriever's reaction to discovering that his new baby sister is here to stay has left internet viewers in hysterics.
In a TikTok clip shared by mom Alice Wang (@brinkleyfromva), her dog Brinkley can be seen staring intently at a bassinet where the newborn is sleeping.
"Brinkley's reaction is a mix of curiosity and disbelief," Wang, 36, told Newsweek. "His incredulous expression gives off this, 'Are you kidding me?' sentiment, as if he refuses to believe the baby is here to stay."

When Wang and her partner Stephen Uyeno, based in Virginia, first brought the newborn home, Brinkley's response was much more energetic.
"He was very excited when we first came home with his sister, bouncing up and down as we entered the house," Wang said. "He enthusiastically—but gently!—sniffed the baby, very curious as to who she was."
Experts note that introducing a newborn to a family dog can be a sensitive transition.
Many canines, especially those who have been the sole focus of attention for years, can feel unsettled by the sudden change in household routines and sounds.
Golden retrievers, in particular, are known for being gentle, patient and affectionate family dogs, making them one of the breeds most commonly trusted around young children.
Golden retrievers' sociable nature means they often adapt well, although, like any breed, they need supervision and reassurance during the adjustment period.
For Brinkley, who had been the family's "only child" for seven years, adjusting to life as a family of four wasn't without challenges—for both parents and pup.
"The first few months [involved] navigating our life with a newborn and adjusting to new routines, learning to be parents and figuring out the beginnings of parenthood," Wang said.
"We know it was also challenging for Brinkley," she continued. "He had to learn to share space and attention, and he's been incredibly patient. We tried as best as we could to intentionally include him and make time with just him."
The clip has been viewed more than 262,000 times and received over 31,000 likes. Dozens of TikTok users commented, calling Brinkley's expression the "face of disapproval."
"He really gave you the side eye," one user posted.
"He's like, are you sure about this?" another wrote.
Nearly two years later, the relationship between Brinkley and his little sister has blossomed into something truly special.
"She adores him, often running up to him to give him hugs and kisses," Wang said. "He's a constant companion during her mealtimes, and she never fails to drop food for him.
"Recently, she has learned to say his name, and it never fails to make us smile when we hear her call him."

Is 'clanker' a slur? Anti-robot jokes accused of being thinly veiled racism

At its heart, it's a ridiculous image. A battle droid from 'Star Wars' sits on the ground, clutching its aluminum knees (hinges?) to its chest. The droid doesn't have a face, just that George Lucas-designed chrome head that looks like a drawing of a Borzoi from memory. Still, it's obviously dejected. The air around the droid is bullying it with colorful insults: tin skin, sparky, oil slurper, and, the lone jeer that's canon, clanker. The drawing was posted on X over the weekend by a user claiming their son was the original artist. They couldn't have known that their post would kick off a debate about racial slurs and the rush to adopt new epithets for outgroups. Many social media users accused the slang term, which has grown in popularity on apps like TikTok, of being thinly veiled racism and an opportunity to say slurs without consequences. 'The 'clanker' meme is really weird and feels like an excuse for white people to almost say slurs with plausible deniability,' one user wrote. 'The clanker jokes are funny until you clock that white people are itching to call ANYTHING a slur,' wrote another. The term originated in the 'Star Wars' universe as a derogatory term for omnipresent droids. It remained popular in that fandom, particularly among gamers making in-jokes about 'Star Wars: Battlefront' and other releases set in the galaxy far, far away. The term for an automaton picked up steam elsewhere with the advent of artificial intelligence and the wider adoption of delivery robots. The jury's still out on whether the term can be considered offensive, and it's already found its way into polite society. Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego used the term while promoting a piece of legislation that would cut down on automated customer service lines. 'Sick of yelling 'REPRESENTATIVE' into the phone 10 times just to talk to a human being?' he wrote on X in July. 'My new bill makes sure you don't have to talk to a clanker if you don't want to.' Are Calvin Harris and Miley Cyrus Feuding? He Says…

Originally appeared on E! Online Calvin Harris is putting a wrecking ball to feud rumors. After he made eyebrow-raising comments about a scrapped collaboration with Miley Cyrus, the "We Found Love" producer clarified what he meant by the remarks, insisting that he had no bad blood with her. In a video shared to TikTok Aug. 17, Calvin offered a sneak peek at a collaboration with an unknown female artist called "Ocean," writing in the caption, "I love it." And while some fans were thrilled about his upcoming song's techno sound, others noted that the DJ had previously shared a glimpse at the unreleased track with Miley on vocals. "What happened to the one with Miley?????" one user commented, while another wrote, "I love Miley's version more." In response to the latter comment, Calvin joked, "Tell her," before replying to those questioning where the "We Can't Stop" singer's version was with messages like, "I do not know" and "My bad." But the "This Is What You Came For" artist quickly shut down the rumors, responding, "Nah it was my wires." In fact, Calvin, 41, went on to clear the air about his relationship with the Grammy winner, insisting in a second comment, "I love Miley." As for Miley, she has yet to speak publicly on why her collaboration with the producer may never see the light of day. However, she previously got candid about being selective about what fellow celebrities she keeps in her inner circle. 'I am not very active or a very active part of my community of other artists and entertainers and celebrities,' Miley admitted during a 2024 appearance on David Letterman's My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, adding of attending industry events, 'It just doesn't feel like my people when I'm in that room." However, she noted that she will make exceptions. Case in point: She's maintained a friendship with Beyoncé, who she collaborated with on the 2024 Cowboy Carter track "II Most Wanted." As she put it, 'I'm a part of my community in that way but, again, it's all quality, not quantity." White House launches official TikTok account with Trump featured prominently in debut video

From Pennsylvania Avenue to your For You page, the White House launched its official TikTok account on Tuesday afternoon. The verified account @whitehouse garnered thousands of followers within less than an hour. The bio reads "Welcome to the Golden Age of America." President Donald Trump is front and center in the White House's first video, which is captioned, "America we are BACK! What's up TikTok?" The post features footage of the president from rallies and notable appearances. "Every day, I wake up determined to deliver a better life for the people all across this nation. I am your voice," Trump said in a voice-over amid cheers. The White House also announced on X it had joined the popular social media platform. Though the White House is new to the platform, Trump launched his personal TikTok account @realdonaldtrump in June 2024, in an apparent effort to connect with young voters. His debut video went viral, generating millions of likes and views. His granddaughter, Kai Trump, also gained stardom on the app after her appearance at the 2024 Republican National Convention. She has posted viral behind-the-scenes videos of the White House and now has more than 3 million followers. The creation of Trump's personal account came nearly four years after he issued an executive order to ban the app unless it was sold to an American buyer, which was later blocked by a federal judge and never went into effect. Separately, at the beginning of 2024, Congress passed a law requiring ByteDance, the Chinese parent company of TikTok, to divest or face a ban. On his first day in office, the president signed an executive order directing the Justice Department to not enforce the TikTok ban for 75 days. Trump issued a second 75-day extension in April and a third 90-day extension in June to allow for negotiations. ByteDance must sell its U.S. operations by Sept. 17, unless another extension is issued.
