has been diagnosed with a new health condition, an autoimmune disorder that affects the thyroid gland, causing hypothyroidism.
Speaking on the 'Call It What It Is' podcast, the 41-year-old revealed her diagnosis with Hashimoto's disease, as per People.
"Long as you've been listening to us, you've known that I joke about being slothy. Just a little slower. Slower, tired, wanna be in bed, love a nap. It never occurred to me that there could be a medical reason for that," she said at the time.
Luddington also shared that a few routine blood tests helped her find the diagnosis.
Noting that she initially thought it was some age or hormonal issues, the actress added, "And so I wanna say about two and a half months ago now, still very recent.
Had blood work, and it came back. And my doctor was like, 'Everything looks great except this one little thing.'"
After hearing the words "autoimmune disease," Luddington was freaked out at first, but calmed down after the doctor assured her that the condition was "very common," she shared.
"I felt like I had the answer for something that I've known is going on. And I have health anxiety, so there was a part of me that was like, 'Am I gaslighting myself?'" she added.

Luddington said that her next move was to call Jessica Capshaw, her 'Grey's Anatomy' co-star and co-host on the podcast.
During the conversation, Luddington explained about the disease, stating that Hashimoto happens when the body's immune system accidentally attacks the thyroid, making one a little slothy. "So over time, the damage it does, it makes the thyroid slow down and stop making enough hormones," she said, further highlighting her symptoms of dry skin, hair loss, and weight gain.
The actress is now recovering, she assured.

Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Sunday approved amendments to Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS) under Rajasthan State Pensioners Medical Concession Scheme-2021, giving pensioners increased financial allowance for OPD medicines and diagnostic tests. "With this decision, we are ensuring that no pensioner faces financial hurdles in accessing essential healthcare. Our govt is committed to making medical services more accessible and responsive," CM Sharma said. As per a finance department notification, powers to relax the annual limits—earlier vested with the finance department—have now been transferred to medical & health department and Rajasthan State Health Assurance Agency (RSHA). Under the revised system, the annual Rs 50,000 limit for OPD medicines can be increased up to Rs 2 lakh by RSHA's additional CEO or joint CEO (authorised by the medical & health department). For amounts between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 7 lakh, the RSHA CEO will have the authority, and for amounts beyond Rs 7 lakh, the medical & health department will take the decision. AIIMS to launch heart transplant programme today
1 2 Jaipur: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jodhpur will launch its heart transplant programme Monday which will enhance advanced cardiac care and transplant capabilities in the region. Dr K R Balakrishnan, chairman of Cardiac Sciences and director of the Institute of Heart and Lung Transplant & Mechanical Circulatory Support, Chennai, will visit Jodhpur to attend postgraduate inaugural session at AIIMS Jodhpur. In the absence of a heart transplant programme at AIIMS Jodhpur, the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization allocated a heart harvested at AIIMS Jodhpur in July 2024 to SMS Hospital. The heart was retrieved from a 25-year-old woman named Anita. The heart was transported to Jaipur through a coordinated effort involving Jodhpur and Jaipur district administrations, traffic police, and airport authorities. The flight carrying the heart departed from Jodhpur and reached Jaipur, allowing the medical team to complete the transplantation within the critical three-hour window. ESI hospital to get infra upgrade at Rs 19 crore
Margao: The Employee State Insurance (ESI) hospital in Margao is set for a major transformation with a Rs 19 crore infrastructure upgrade and the introduction of dedicated bus services. Labour minister Atanasio 'Babush' Monserrate's written reply in the recently-concluded legislative assembly session stated that a proposal for special repairs estimated to cost Rs 19 crore has been sent to ESI Corporation headquarters in New Delhi for technical sanction. The modernisation plan comes as the hospital, inaugurated in March 2014, continues to operate well below capacity despite serving over 2.1 lakh registered ESI beneficiaries across Goa. Further, govt has fast-tracked the recruitment of specialist doctors to fill vacancies. 'Filling of junior radiologist and four insurance medical officers on a regular basis is in process,' said the minister while responding to questions raised by Curtorim MLA Aleixo Lourenco. In yet another measure to optimise hospital utilisation, govt has requested Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTC) to start the 'Amchi Bus' service connecting KTC bus stand in Margao directly to the ESI hospital. 'Insured persons referred from ESI dispensaries located in North Goa hesitate to travel to Margao for treatment due to the availability of govt medical facilities in the district hospital and Goa Medical College,' the minister said. A Hospital Improvement Committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye, along with expert doctors, to explore ways to improve facilities and maximise utilisation of available services. Shetye earlier said that the hospital's occupancy stood at just 26%, despite having 56 commissioned beds. The hospital has also established tie-ups with private medical laboratories for specific pathology services not available in-house. 'Our primary objective is to bring ESI into 'active mode' to significantly reduce the patient load at South Goa district hospital, Margao, and GMC,' Shetye said during a review meeting in June.
