DEWA reissues tender for pumping stations
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has reissued the tender for construction of 1 x 30 MIGD Ghafat Idah Reservoir Complex Pumping Station (PS6) and Endurance Road Pumping Station (PS21) Phase 1 Stream A project.
The previous tender, issued on 12 August 2024 with bid submission deadline of 7 November 2024, had attracted eight bids. The lowest bid received was 85 million UAE dirhams ($23 million).
The project encompasses construction of the pumping stations, electro-mechanical works and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems integration.
The closing date for receipt of completed tender online is 11.00 AM of 15 May 2025, according to a public notice issued by the utility.

The upcoming seventh phase of the solar park, developed under the independent power producer model, has drawn interest from 47 global companies. Set to deliver up to 2,000 megawatts and feature 1,000MW of battery storage over six hours, it will rank among the largest solar-plus-storage projects worldwide. Dubai, UAE: HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), affirmed that the recent roadshow by DEWA's delegation to the People's Republic of China reflects Dubai's unwavering commitment to achieving the objectives of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net-Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which aim to transform the emirate into a global hub for sustainability and the green economy. Al Tayer explained that the roadshow is part of DEWA's efforts to strengthen its global partnerships with major companies and leading research centres in renewable energy and energy storage technologies, ensuring the optimal implementation of clean and renewable energy projects as well as introducing the latest developments at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world's largest single-site solar park, located in Dubai. DEWA's delegation included Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence, and Ghanim Alqassim, Senior Manager – Solar Energy at DEWA. A total of 47 international companies have expressed interest in developing the seventh phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park under the independent power producer (IPP) model. This 1,600 megawatt (MW) phase, with the potential to expand to 2,000MW, will use photovoltaic solar panels and have a battery energy storage system with a capacity of 1,000MW for six hours, providing a total storage capacity of 6,000 megawatt-hours. This will make it one of the world's largest solar-plus-storage projects. Commissioning is scheduled to take place in stages between 2027 and 2029.

Saudi offers fun city, shopping mall projects
Saudi Arabia is offering 17 projects to investors in the Southern Jazan province, including the construction of a fun city and a shopping mall. The projects are located in the south-western Abu Arish city and are part of a drive to attract investment to the province, Jazan's secretariat said. The two projects include construction, operation and maintenance of a fun city and a shopping mall in Abu Arish, it said in a statement. The other projects comprise a hospital, warehouses, a public park, a car park, a pedestrian bridge and the maintenance of shopping malls, it added.
